The entire hotel's facilities were old and run-down, and there were even cockroaches in the bathroom! Plus, there was an unidentifiable liquid on the pillows, and the soundproofing was terrible. I only stayed one night and didn't even bother with the other two nights I'd booked; I just left. In short, it was awful. Don't come here."

"We arrived by public bus, so it was relatively convenient, but the hotel's shuttle service wasn't very well-organized. Dinner was a bit different from what we expected, leaning more towards Western tastes, while breakfast was a rich buffet. The only minor flaw was that the stopper for the private hot spring drain tended to get stuck. The river sound was quite loud, possibly due to it being flood season. However, once we closed the balcony door at night, it was perfectly quiet. Thank you for the honeymoon gift, we were very happy about it."

"Lalaca is a quaint, cosy, beautiful accommodation in Gora. We drove but it is also walkable from the train station. We were greeted and served by the most sincere and polite team, and the place was not too crowded during the period I was there. The place was sparkling clean, the beds were comfortable and we love that they were flexible in allowing us to use the onsen privately since occupancy is low. We opted for the kaiseki dinner and the spread was amazing! We enjoyed every single dishes, and our tummies and hearts were soooo full. They lock up the apartment by 11pm as Gora is rather quiet at night, so it felt safe knowing that there won’t be trespassers as night. Will definitely recommend Lalaca!"

Tenseien Odawara Station Annex

"The hotel is incredibly convenient, located directly within the Odawara Station complex, although it can be a little tricky to find for first-timers. From Odawara Station's East Exit (stay within the station building), take a short escalator down. You'll spot the Lusca mall on your right. Upon entering, Marugame Udon is on your left, and Seijo Ishii supermarket is directly opposite. Walk past Marugame, turn left to exit the mall, then turn right onto a glass-enclosed walkway outside. Continue straight, passing a parking lot on your right. Keep going until you see the hotel's directional sign (like the one in the last photo). Take the escalator up to the 4th floor, where you'll find the hotel lobby. We stayed in a Double B room, which was relatively spacious and well-suited for a family of three. This particular room type, which we only saw listed on Ctrip, was excellent. The bathroom featured a wet/dry separation but no bathtub. However, the public bath on the 10th floor was very comfortable (remember to bring your own towel!). There's also a foot bath on the 14th floor offering scenic views. If daily cleaning is desired, simply place the 'clean my room' sign outside your door, and fresh towels and yukata will be provided. Even if you forget the sign, they thoughtfully leave fresh yukata and towels at your door – a really nice touch. I appreciated this considerate service that respected our privacy. The bedding was comfortable, and individually packaged facial cleanser, makeup remover, and body lotion were replenished daily. Odawara is a wonderful city, and this hotel's location makes it extremely convenient for visiting Hakone, Atami, and Kamakura. I would love to visit again and would definitely choose this hotel for my next stay. The only minor downsides were the slight train noise (though I still slept very well during my three-night stay) and the slightly stiff toothbrush provided."

"This hotel is so bad that it made even a lazy person like me write a lengthy review. It completely shattered my perception that Japanese hotels, no matter how old, are always clean. First, when we dropped off our luggage at 10 AM, we specifically requested a high-floor room. However, when we returned to the hotel at 6 PM, we were still given a room on the lowest floor, the third, and it was at the very end of the corridor (in the area where you have to carry your luggage up steps). Then, the hotel's cleanliness was the worst I've ever experienced in a Japanese hotel. The hallways were crawling with various unidentified flying insects, and there were dead insects on the floor. There were even buzzing, large flying insects lurking in the corridors, making every trip back to the room feel like an escape. There were mosquitoes in the room, and small flying insects on the tatami floor, which meant our whole family couldn't get a peaceful night's sleep. Finally, the onsen public bath was just a simple bathhouse. There were only two rudimentary pools, both inside and out, and the overall environment was dirty, messy, and poor. It felt nothing like a hot spring hotel. And last but not least, the so-called buffet dinner was like a factory canteen, with seats so close together you could reach over and grab food from your neighbor's plate, which completely killed our appetite. You truly don't deserve a price tag of over 2800 per night!!!"
