Kyu-Karuizawa Hotel Shinonome Reviews

Karuizawa is a beautiful and quiet town, easily accessible from Tokyo station with Hokuriku Shinkansen. The room is very spacious relative to Tokyo hotel room size. This hotel is not super near to the JR station but is acceptable for solo traveller like me. It is around 10 to 15mins work, depending on your pace. This hotel has a timeless village cottage vibe! Definitely worth a visit!

Nice hotel n clean.

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. It's not a new hotel, but clean 10m walk from train station, confortable beds a nice host.

Not far from Karuizawa Prince Outlet.

The room was fairly clean, but there's no elevator on the second floor, so you have to carry your luggage up yourself. The hotel is small but charming, about a ten-minute walk from Karuizawa Station. It's a ten- to fifteen-minute walk to Old Ginza and Unmoyuchi. The facilities are a bit dated, soundproofing is only so-so, and there's no onsen (hot spring).

The room is clean, but the bathroom is old. You have to take off your shoes at the front desk and wear reused slippers inside the building. Amenities are minimal.

I stayed overnight without meals, but after I told them I was going to eat outside, they started making sarcastic remarks.

Convenient. A taxi from the station won't cost more than ¥600. A stroll through Kumoba Pond and the Ginza alleyways are within 20 minutes. From the main road, there are buses to Shirai Falls and the town of Utsugi. Convenient.

The room was a bit small for three people. It was actually a room for two people with an extra bed. However, after adding the bed, you could only open a suitcase and couldn't walk. Since the bed was not very small, two people with small bodies could squeeze in.

It's a 10-minute walk from Karuizawa Shinkansen Station. The surrounding area is very quiet. Convenience stores are only near the Shinkansen. There are not many places to eat. You have to walk to the old Karuizawa Station. There is a great cheesecake shop next to it. There is an uncle at the front desk of the hotel who is very enthusiastic. If you forget to remind someone, he will come to remind them in person.

The room is comfortable and warm. You need to wear indoor slippers to enter the room area, and there is also a dedicated shoe cabinet!

Not far from JR Karuizawa Station, it's located along a forest path. It has a rustic, old-fashioned feel, and the Western-style cuisine is formal. The waiters chat with regular customers, making it feel like home. It's worth a try.
