"The service was great! The only thing is, if you're traveling in a group, you might have to wait for the hot water to replenish between showers. Service was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly. Cleanliness was good. The towels had a sulfur-like smell, perhaps from being stored for too long. The facilities were good and complete."

"We really liked our accommodation and initially we booked it to hike mount Ijen, however pick up would be around 01:00 so we decided to skip it. Breakfast was good, would recommend including it. Rooms were nice and spacious, bathroom was a bit dated, could use some work. Staff very friendly but because of a language barrier we assumed laundry was free, at least that's what some staff member told us after we asked. However it was as seen on the booking just 2 pieces a night (f.e. 2 shirts). At the bar the sold beers that were not on the menu. Beers on the menu were advertised with a price that included service charge and tax. The Beers they actually had and sold didn't have that included. All in all we really liked our stay but these were some experience that were a tad disappointing. In the end I still highly recommend to stay here to relax."

"Spectacular mountain resort in the foothills of Mt Ijen. Incredible artworks and historical artifacts. The best feature is the incredible view of Mt Ijen, which seems so close on a clear day. Lovely friendly staff, beautiful rooms, delicious meals, lush gardens and spectacular infinity pool with breathtaking views across the valley and up to Mt Ijen. This is the ultimate magical paradise."

"The structure is perfect in every respect, it was a shame to only be able to spend half a day there after sunrise on Ijen. Ideal for a bit of relaxation among the many activities: Beautiful and easily accessible location, despite being surrounded by nature. Good and plentiful meals. Professional and friendly staff. Excellent and punctual services (massages)."

"Wonderful camping in the middle of rice fields. About 30min outside the city - not very easy to find. Beautiful pool, cheap restaurant and convenient bungalows. Mosque well hearable."

Jiwa Jawa Ijen ★★★★
"Walking into Jiwa Jawa felt almost unreal to me. It felt like stepping into a quiet, soulful gallery rather than a hotel. I found myself slowing down immediately, taking in the local artworks, striking photography, intricate batik, and the beautiful terracotta statues. It's impressive. There are 1,000 life-size dancers showcasing the four striking dance moves of the local Osing traditional Gandrung dance. There’s a sense of story and intention in every corner of the hotel complex; it doesn’t just look curated, it feels deeply personal. Finding the infinity pool was a moment in itself. When it opened up in front of me, I just stopped. It’s easily the biggest I’ve seen, and it seems to dissolve right into the landscape. From there, East Java stretched out in layers of mountains and sky. I spent a long time just sitting there, taking it all in. It’s one of those views that stays with you. The restaurant matched that same level of care. The service felt warm and natural, never forced, and the menu thoughtfully blends international flavours with local traditions. I still think about the filet mignon. It was exceptional. What stood out most, though, was the people. The service across the hotel felt genuinely kind and attentive, the kind that makes you feel welcome rather than simply looked after. I also spent time at Taman Gandrung, the other accommodation choice, with the 1,000 life-size terracotta dancers who grace the rice fields. It's a sight to behold. This accommodation choice is set among rice fields, and draws you into the rhythm of rural life. I found myself just sitting and watching the light shift across the paddies for hours in a peaceful and very grounding way. Both accommodation places carry a strong sense of place, just expressed in different ways. One through art and design, the other through landscape and tradition. Lucky for us, we were there on a Friday, so we got to see a live Gandrung Dance performance. You can catch that on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A major highlight was visiting Mount Ijen. The hotel made everything easy to arrange, including the local guide. The 1:00 am wake-up felt intense at the time, but the experience is unforgettable. Seeing the blue flame and that surreal turquoise crater lake in the early hours is something you can’t quite describe, only feel. I’d suggest staying at least 3–5 days to really take in the area and surroundings. Waterfalls, plantation walks, village life, and mountain trails are all on offer. You can go as slow or as active as you like. For me, this wasn’t just a place to stay. It felt like a meaningful travel experience, where nature, art, and culture all come together in a way that feels authentic and quietly powerful."

Teras Hotel & Villa Banyuwangi ★★★★
"When climbing the Ijen volcano, you usually stay in Banyuwangi, mainly because it is close to the pier, but to climb the volcano you need to get up after 2 o'clock and drive for 2 hours. So when I booked a hotel, I looked at the very famous ijen villa&resort, but later it was all booked. So I happened to be recommended by the app Teras hotel ijen. I saw that the price was 600rmb a night and it was OK, so I made the decision (later I found out that the price had been reduced to 450rmb, which was a huge loss). The hotel is about 45 minutes away from Banyuwangi Pier, but the location allows you to see the Ijen volcanoes, and there are rice fields and coconut trees outside. The sunset is so beautiful. There are actually several hotels around, as well as a guest house, which costs 200rmb a night. The hotel design is very design-like, similar to domestic boutique hotels, with only one floor of rooms. Since there are no restaurants around the hotel, you can basically eat at the hotel. The price is not expensive, only 50rmb per person, which is really cheap. However, there is a small cafe when you go down the alley from the hotel and turn right on the main road. A few young people are relatively new to making drinks, but the photos are beautiful. I recommend everyone to check it out. Then there is a guest house next to the hotel, where you can also drink coffee. It is surrounded by rice fields, which is also suitable for watching the sunset. Staying in the entire hotel was very relaxing and there was no sense of pressure. The biggest problem with Teras Hotel is that transportation is inconvenient. You can't get Grab here. Only the hotel has a taxi phone number. Going to the pier is twice as expensive and the asking price is 250k. There is no other choice but to leave. Also, if you sign up for a group tour to climb Ijen, it is not available here. The hotel will provide a contact person to discuss it yourself. Basically, a car costs 1,700k, including guide and tickets. We will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the pier at the end. The price is slightly expensive, but it is acceptable, and it is okay for three or four people to carpool. In short, in ijen, it is highly recommended to stay here for one more day to relieve the fatigue of the special forces trip."

Kampoeng Joglo Ijen ★★★
"I'll say this: the service is top-notch, they'll order a taxi and take you to the volcano, and they'll even issue a certificate. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is a bit dated, the door is hard to close, etc., etc. For lack of other options in the area, it's top-notch, but giving it a high rating due to the lack of competition is not right."

"I arrived there, got caught in a downpour, got completely wet, and I had to climb the volcano in 4 hours. There was no one, I waited for half an hour and went to a normal hotel. They refused to return the money and have not returned it to this day"

Ijen Resort and Villas - The Hidden Paradise ★★★★
"Beautiful location in the hills surrounded by rice paddies, near a village. Beds really comfortable, including the extra bed they put up as we were a group of 5. We were skeptical about the food as the printed menus were tatty, but the actual food was really good. Beef rendang, mixed vegetables and pan fried fish excellent. They could do with improving presentation of the menu and including some vegan/ vegetarian options. However when we asked they understood what we were asking for and came up with suitable dishes for the vegans. We did a lovely 3 hr walk through fields, pine forrest, villages which looped back to hotel via the swimming pool springs. Whilst its true superficially some things appear slightly dated everything works and too frequent refurbishment for tourists def not environmentally friendly. And as usual staff were all lovely and helpful."
