Premier Inn Minehead

Premier Inn Minehead ★★★

📍 Seaward Way, Minehead

"A quick trip away with my partner, the staff were really helpful and pleasant. I would stay here again."

The Royal Oak Exmoor
9.2 (37 reviews)

The Royal Oak Exmoor ★★★★

📍 Halse Ln, Winsford

"We received a very warm welcome from our hosts. We were staying in the cottage next door for the weekend so it was a very convenient location to go for a drink or for a meal. We had dinner on the Friday night which was lovely with plenty of choice. They kept the kitchen open as we were late arriving for which we were very grateful. We also had Sunday lunch which was amongst the best I’ve ever eaten. It’s a lovely pub and also has rooms so would be very happy to stay there next time"

The Rest and Be Thankful Inn
8.9 (25 reviews)

The Rest and Be Thankful Inn ★★★★

📍 Rest and Be Thankful Inn Wheddon Cross, Cutcombe

"Although we had booked a King/Twin room months in advance, sadly we were informed upon our arrival that something had gone wrong with the booking system, which meant that the room was not available. The landlord offered us a Double and an adjacent Single room instead, which is obviously not a desirable option for a married couple on a romantic getaway. We therefore opted to both sleep in the double room, though we regretted our decision the next morning, as the bed was clearly too narrow for two people to sleep in comfortably. The landlord had offered to make up for this mishap with our dinner, though we ended up being merely treated to 2 glasses of sparkling wine, which seemed a bit too small a gesture for our inconvenience. On the bright side, staff very generally friendly and we liked the breakfast. But having seen the high review rating this Inn is getting, it did feel somewhat of a let-down, to be honest. Google lists the establishment as a 4-star hotel, which doesn't seem quite appropriate. E.g. bottled water in the room was sorely missing. The decor also seemed rather dated to us."

Dunkery Beacon Country House
9.8 (35 reviews)

Dunkery Beacon Country House ★★★★

📍 Nr Dunster, Wootton Courtenay

"Lovely traditional B&B. Superb situation, south facing terrace overlooking Dunkery Beacon (you can walk up it straight from here and get the best views in Exmoor). Charming room. Extremely helpful and attentive hosts. Lovely weekend."

Yarn Market Hotel
8.4 (41 reviews)

Yarn Market Hotel ★★★

📍 25-33 High St, Dunster

"Not actually staying in the hotel, but using the hotel owned property 1a, situated down the road from the hotel in the very picturesque village of Dunster. The property was well presented and spacious rooms, with a quiet atmosphere and very clean. Excellent service from all, meals were very well cooked and presented, especially on the last night we were there (The oven Baked Chicken Breast, with a creamy mushroom sauce) was excellent!!! Excellent value for money! The whole atmosphere was very friendly!"

The Crown Hotel
8.8 (34 reviews)

The Crown Hotel ★★★

📍 Crown Hotel, Park St, Exford

"Fantastic hotel. We stayed for one night and couldn’t fault anything. Older style but clean and very comfortable. Superb bed. We had an excellent dinner (ribs and lamb tagine) and one of the best breakfasts at a hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even let us recharge our e-bikes in the secure shed (former stables). Great location to explore Exmoor as it’s on the doorstep. Highly recommended."

The Lorna Doone Hotel
8.5 (24 reviews)

The Lorna Doone Hotel ★★★

📍 High St, Porlock

"Another enjoyable evening meal at the Lorna Doone restaurant. I now always make sure to pre-book to avoid disappointment; it's easy enough to do. Staff are always welcoming and helpful and the little dining room is very cosy. This time I had a glass of delicious Merlot with the Cajun chicken, which was tasty and just at the perfect side of spicy for me. Previously I enjoyed the Lamb Three Ways and the slow cooked beef ribs. I didn't intend to have pudding, but opted again for the rhubarb & ginger affair... My companions also love the Lamb, but this time had the Saltimbocca, which they really enjoyed."

Exmoor House
9.8 (35 reviews)

Exmoor House ★★★★

📍 12 West Street, Dunster

"Had a fabulous short break at this B&B. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. There is everything you need supplied from tea, coffee and biscuits to a full range of toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful. James and Jane are very friendly and helpful, offering excellent suggestions on restaurants and places to visit. Dunster is a lovely little village with good restaurants and pubs to suit every budget. The wider area is also great to explore we especially enjoyed visiting Lynton and Lynmouth using the open topped bus."

Dunster Castle Hotel
9.3 (53 reviews)

Dunster Castle Hotel ★★★

📍 5 High St, Dunster

"Breakfast was brilliant (especially the fruit salad), the room was so clean and the proprietors were very attentive, happy and helpful. It's the second time my son and I have visited there, and look forward to going back soon"

The Royal Oak Exmoor ★★★★
"After a lovely day out on Exmoor, we googled pubs that were on the way back to East Devon. This one came up and there was only one availability left for a Saturday night. We arrived very early so sat with our dogs and had a drink. The hospitality was amazing! Nothing was too much trouble despite the fact that there was an event happening at the village hall so what seemed like the entire village had booked dinner at the pub beforehand. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful. Plus the dogs were so welcome. We had to rush off to get home, but we will be back! We both highly recommend!"

"I wouldn’t mind the cheap dated room and poky bathroom cupboard and utterly shagged mattress except… Several rooms back onto noisy kitchen fan and a refrigeration unit which kicks in regularly all night, no good in summer when you need window open. And the toilet regurgitates number twos when next door flushes or has a shower. Plus side, room was clean, breakfast was fine and shower was good."

"Dunster, lovely location. however rooms and bathrooms are not serviced during stay. (cleaning materials placed in bedroom for customers use). very plain ,old fashioned 1950's feel. breakfast was fine. dinner menu limited and bland lots of boiled veg. ( if you'r lucky there is some free street parking. we got lucky) otherwise pay/park 5-10 mins away . cant honestly recommend this hotel, fairly expensive for average accommodation. feel prices high due to location."

"A lovely family run hotel. Delightful bedroom and comfortable beds. Nothing was too much trouble. Food very good and wide choice. Breakfast was superb couldnt fault it. A very efficient young lady helped the family in all departments and they all worked very hard to make out stay so pleasant. Definitely worth visiting for a stay or a meal. Thoroughly recommend. Only grumble dont arrive before 3 pm. Door was locked so we spent an hour or two in the Royal Oak next door having a good lunch. Porlock is delightful village and everyone so friendly."

"Lovely weekend stay in November at this historic venue in a beautiful building. The hosts James and Jane were perfect and very friendly. Breakfast was gorgeous, best fried bread we have ever had. Fresh milk for each room was a great feature and extra was never a problem. Comfortable bed and great nights sleep. Dunster village is a beautiful place. Highly recommend this friendly high quality B&B."
