We asked the waitress to speak to the chef and she came back suggesting we had already eaten it (but how would we know without eating it?). We paid for a very expensive meal that we didn’t enjoy. "We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Bushveld Terrace Safari Hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment we started making our booking, the service was exceptional. We arranged a few special extras to celebrate my husband’s and son’s birthdays, and everything was beautifully set up in our room when we arrived. It made the occasion feel incredibly special, and the cake was honestly out of this world! A very special thank you to Simone, who assisted us with our booking and all the birthday arrangements. She even took the time to introduce herself when we arrived and personally made sure that everything was in order. That kind of personal attention really stood out and made us feel so welcome. Dinner was excellent — every dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The chef clearly knows exactly what they are doing! Our room was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The team even assisted us with getting firewood to take with us into Kruger National Park, which was incredibly helpful and just another example of how they went the extra mile for us. We only stayed for one night before continuing into Kruger, but from the friendly service throughout the booking process to the warm welcome and wonderful stay, everything was perfect. Thank you to the entire team for making our short visit so memorable and for helping us celebrate two special birthdays in such a beautiful way. We will most definitely be back!"

"the Location was great and the restaurant staff were friendly and provided us good service, which is unfortunately the two positive parts of our stay. when we arrive, the reception experience was very poor. No Information was given about the lodge or breakfast until I asked, and we were not even accompanied to our room. The condition of the room was disappointing. The shower and floors were dirty to the point where you could not shower without wearing flip flops. Housekeeping was also below standard. During our 2-night stay, the room was not properly cleaned, the bins were not emptied, dishes were not washed properly and both the bathroom and floors remained dirty. Only the beds were made. This was a very disappointing experience."

"I had a wonderful stay at Sunbird Lodge. The host, Dave, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and it was clear he takes a genuine interest in all his guests. He had great suggestions for where we could find dinner, and those recommendations completely changed our perception of an area that’s often overlooked. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with lovely beds that made for a great night’s rest. Breakfast was also enjoyable and a nice way to start the day. Overall, Sunbird Lodge offers warm hospitality, thoughtful local insight, and a comfortable stay, a place I’d happily return to (with secure overnight parking)"

Nyati Safari Lodge
"This was our second visit to Nyati Safari Lodge. As always, the grounds were spotless, accommodation was very spacious and neat, and the food was delicious, even for us vegetarians. The Olifants river flows right past your accommodation, so visitors like elephants are common, even in the rainy season when they come for the fresh grass. Game viewing was poor the first cold and rainy day, but we still saw 12 rare grey mammals in an evening drive. Our last morning drive was sunny, with the Big Five before breakfast, including 3 different lion sightings and a huge male leopard wandering in the road next to us. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall an excellent experience, especially if you can include a Sunday night dinner up on top of the hill overlooking a beautiful waterhole and the eastern Drakensberg mountains from The Lion King viewpoint!"
Karongwe- Shiduli Safari Lodge
"We had a brilliant time. We were treated like royalty the entire time. On arrival you with greeted with cold towel and juice. We checked in at 3:30pm and were able to do our first safari drive at 4:30 so we’re delighted. The welcome staff member shows you around the lodge and to your room which is a nice touch. The room was luxurious. Some reviews question this, I would say to remind yourself you are in South Africa. Their version of luxury is different to western modern luxury. The room was clean and had so much African charm. The shower featured a stone fall which was weird but we grew to love it. Feels like you are outside. The pool area was nice. Staff are very friendly and charming. There are 2 Safari drives included during your stay. 5:30am and 4:30pm. We were introduced to our guide and tracker on our first ride out. Ours were Charlie and James. You ride out with the same team and same guests every time which we loved because you build a relationship with the guides and guests. We made friends with the other guests making it a lovely experience. They have a 2 car only policy when looking at animals. If there are other cars wanting to look they have to wait. It seems they care about their wild animals and give them space. This is probably why we saw them all. We saw all of the big 5 twice in 4 days. Our daily schedule was like this, Woken up 5am Coffee at 5:15am Safari start 5:30am Back for breakfast 9am 10am - 13:30 you have to yourself. We went to the pool. Some guests slept we think. 13:30 lunch 14:30 we showered and got ready for evening Safari 15:30meet for safari. 16:00 Safari ride out. 19:30 dinner 20:30 drinks with out other guests in our car. 22:00 bed. We were knackered We had a fabulous time and didn’t want to go home. Thank you to all the team."

"I had a wonderful stay at FairView Hotel. The views from my room were absolutely beautiful. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. Housekeeping did an excellent job, changing the towels and bedding daily. I also took a walk from my room down to the river, passing the golf course along the way. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and made for a peaceful, relaxing experience. The only downside was that my room had a thatched roof without a ceiling, and small bits would occasionally fall from the roof, which was a little unpleasant. The staff at reception, in the breakfast room, and at the restaurant were all professional, friendly, and very helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. I ordered room service once and, unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the chicken schnitzel, fries, or the peppermint crisp tart. However, everything else about my stay was excellent. The swimming pool area was beautiful, relaxing, and very well maintained. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would happily return. "

"A very good, clean ccomodation. Like a jewel in the town. Small garden with swimming pool. Car park is inside the fenced property. Breakfast was individually created and all wished very fulfilled. Tha accomodation is close to the Krüger Gate but the roads in town have plenty of pot holes."

"Unfortunately we only stayed two nights in the Rafiki Bush Lodge. It is such an awesome location with lovely house owners and a great chef. They made our stay unforgettable! We can only recommend staying in this lodge! The food was also so delicios!!"

Great that she uses local tour companies, produce etc. Fabulous meals provided as part of the package, cooked lovingly and served outside under the stars, weather permitting!! A small, individual lodge means it’s got that homely feel, exceptional quality and attention to detail in every way."
