GGuest UserI can’t stop raving about this inn. It is a B&B style three stories tall inn located inside the Datong Ancient City. Complimentary shuttle service between the airport or railway station made it really convenient for out of town travelers. The guest room was clean and equipped with modern facilities like automatic toilets, coded entry, projection screens, etc. The inn is located near the north gate of the city amongst other accommodations. Within minutes of walking is access to the top of the city wall where bike rental is available to ride along the wall. The inn is very quiet at night. The inn is family operated and everyone was very hospitable. What sets this inn apart from other accommodations in the area is their dedication to service. The owner knew I was a tourist and new to the area, she offered to pick me up if I got lost wandering the ancient city. The breakfast came with my reservation. When the owner found out I had to depart before breakfast serving hours, she went above and beyond to prepare food and served me 30 minutes ahead of schedule. The food tasted amazing and came with abundant varieties and huge portions. It was definitely not part of the service to drop off at another venue, but the owner took me to my next accommodation 2km away. I truly appreciate everything this inn and its staff has done for me. I am so glad to have chosen to stay this beautiful little inn on my first night in Datong. I will definitely stay here again without a doubt on my next visit.

The nine-grid breakfast is a true taste of Datong, and the freshly made knife-cut noodles are incredibly authentic. 👍 **Summary**: The young staff here are genuinely warm, kind, and so thoughtful! GGuest UserFacilities: The design is excellent, and all the amenities are thoughtfully arranged and very practical. The bed and pillows are incredibly comfortable; lying down felt so therapeutic, and I fell asleep almost instantly. Hygiene: The hygiene was impeccable. Environment: The location is perfect, within walking distance of Daiwang Mansion, Drum Tower, and Huayan Temple. After watching the iron flower performance at night, it was just a short stroll back to bed. Service: The service was incredibly attentive and prompt. The butler recommended many delicious local eateries, and they were all indeed fantastic. The tea at the front desk was also delightful; I'd fill my thermos every time I went out – it was so comforting. They even offered a thoughtful bedtime gift, making the overall experience incredibly pleasant.

JJulz d’traveller*The staff are nice to accomodate us. *The place is close to the scenic spot (few minutes by car). *The breakfast is not too bad. Few choices but it will fill you up.No drinks (juice or coffee). *The accomodation was nice to drop and pick us up at the scenic area.They dropped us off to the bus station going to Datong city. *Problem was the bad odour coming from the toilet. We think it’s from the drainage. We can’t even open the door for few minutes for air to come in because it is freezing. It’s negative degrees. *The room was nice and comfortable. I can’t find photos or video of the interior. The size of the room is perfect. It has a long bench.Table with 1 small chair.Tv, closet, slippers,toothbrush, hair dryer,kettle and 2 bottle of water. *Last picture was epic:)

GGuest UserVery good boss, very good homestay 😭 knife-cut noodles are very delicious, the room facilities are very tasteful, it is very comfortable to blow the breeze in the small courtyard, the boss is very good to help us upgrade the room type, stayed for a few days and experienced a lot of local humanities, everyone is very enthusiastic, Datong is really a very good city, outstanding people and beautiful scenery, I will come again next time 🥹🥹🥹

BBramantyoReally ideal place to stay in Datong. 2.4km from the railway station (north) and close to the wall. Places to eat nearby. Hotel host was really friendly. Good communication. And gave us a late checkout until 7pm! They were really nice to give us a late checkout at that time. The rooms are clean. Toilet was clean. Modern. And cozy. It is located in shop 1-4. Where the shop owners were really nice too. Overall a really pleasant and enjoyable place to stay if you want to visit the Yungang Grottoe, The wall. 🙂

HHunboonCab fare from Hunyuan bus station to hotel is RMB10(fixed price),from hotel to Hengshan and Xuankong temple is RMB20 and 15 respectively. Hotel staff provided great service and advice, helping with the laundry washing and gave us aloe Vera gel for moisturising. They also helped us to confirm the bus trip from Hunyuan to Wutaishan by calling and contacting the bus station staff to ensure we will not be cheated. There's a shopping centre opposite which sells apparel and shoes at wholesale price. Lots of food options nearby too

GGuest UserI recently stayed at the Xiyun Hotel Datong on a business trip. The overall experience far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it. The hotel's location is exceptionally advantageous, nestled in the Dongxin Plaza area. Surrounded by well-developed commercial facilities and convenient transportation, it's incredibly convenient for both commuting and shopping, saving me significant time and energy on my business trips. The front desk staff were highly professional, and the reception process was efficient and smooth. During check-in, they were enthusiastic and proactive, not only completing the formalities quickly but also patiently answering my questions about the hotel's facilities and surroundings. This attentive service made me feel cared for and respected even in a foreign city. The guest rooms were comfortable and pleasant, with a well-planned layout and elegant, simple decor. The bed had the perfect firmness and the high-quality linens provided a good night's sleep, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a busy day. The in-room amenities were well-equipped and functioned well, meeting all my business needs. The hotel's dining service was also commendable, with a rich and nutritious breakfast menu featuring both local specialties and more traditional Western dishes, catering to every palate. Furthermore, the hotel's strict security measures and excellent hygiene in both public areas and guest rooms create a safe and clean experience. The Xiyun Hotel Datong, with its prime location, excellent service, comfortable environment, and comprehensive facilities, provided me with a perfect stay. I believe that whether traveling for business or pleasure, choosing the Xiyun Hotel will not disappoint. I highly recommend it to everyone!

GGuest UserThis hotel is really really beautiful - maybe even more than the photos show. Even though the style is traditional, everything inside the room is new, and there's even an elevator to take up bags. The location is amazing too, inside the old city wall, and I walked everywhere except the out of town attractions I visited. I think anywhere you stay in Datong you might have some communication challenges if you don't speak Chinese, but the owner here was very helpful once I put wechat on my phone to be able to talk with translation help, and he was able to arrange a last minute taxi out to the hanging temple after I had given up trying to get one. However, even though he was very helpful, he wasn't always around, and checking in was a bit difficult because there was nobody at the desk. I think this is only a problem if you don't speak Chinese though. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't always reach to my room on the 3rd floor well, and I could only get a trickle of hot water out of the shower. Overall though, I was super happy with this place and would recommend it!

GGuest UserAjummah at the front desk is very accommodating. I arrived at 6:30am and they were able to provide me a room at 8am. Very close to the railway station. The downside is room smells tobacco. The common bathroom is extremely dirty and smells like urine. There were even poop left is there without flashing down. I had to go up to the 3rd floor and use the bathroom there instead of the one in our floor. No towels, toiletries, slippers, hair dryer. If you just need a day to rest that is near the railways station, you can book this, otherwise look for other hotels in the area.
