Anytime I am in Shanghai this is my go to hotel, I absolutely love how close (walking distance) it is to shopping and the metro!!!

Overall, it was quite good. All my room requests were met, and the environment was also very pleasant. The only thing is, I later received a call about some unpleasantness at breakfast, and I'm not sure if that's true.

The hotel service was impeccable- the check-in and out were fast and efficient; and they acceded to our request for late check out without questions. The online concierge service via weixin was also very fast and responsive.  One minor comment about the placing of the kitchen utensils - the spoons and forks were in a drawer just above the dustbin and the cups were placed in a drawer way too high up in the top cabinet. It would also be useful if the hotel could provide plates and washing liquid for utensils.

We stayed in the Art Deco room, which was nice. The bath looking out over the city is great. The breakfast was very disappointing. There’s no one there to check you in, explain the process/options or show you to a table. The food is very mediocre but the service is quite terrible. The restaurant staff talk very loudly to each other and don’t seem to understand paying guests are eating their breakfast. They are very unprofessional. I stayed 3 nights and had the same experience every morning. I had to wait 20 mins for a coffee too. If I stay here again I’ll skip the breakfast and instead head over to Starbucks a few mins walk away. I’d booked this hotel mainly for the terrace and restaurant options but all were closed apart from the lobby bistro. Overall, a lovely room with 3 star service.

The hotel is in a great location; however, there were some issues with the bathroom door and the bedroom floor lifting up.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights in this hotel. It was a pleasant and happy stay in Kempinski Shanghai Downtown. All crew members' service was extremely good. My daughter was sick and need assistance to the hospital in the midnight, the counter crews were very helpful by helping to search for appropriate hospital and well arrange transportation for us. The housekeeping aunty, Rose Zhu, was very good and caring. She let us feel like at home. She gave a lot of kind advice for our sick daughter and prepare extra 2 bottles of water for our sick daughter. The rooms were spacious, bed and pillow was comfortable. It was an enjoyable stay. Thumbs up to the crew members.

Very good area - close to metro, to resturant and shops (only 10 min walking from Nanijng shoping street) but still very quite. Very nice place, i highly recommend it ! They also made us free upragrde of the room!

Overall the hotel is good.  However, We are disappointed about the gym and swimming pool. I guessed that these facilities are opened to the public where I felt so crowded that I hadn’t tried.

This was my second time staying here and I enjoy it. The staff is attentive and they have good english capabilities if you are a foreigner. The area is great, with many shops, coffee shops, and restaurants nearby. I would say it is a 10-15 minute pleasant walk to the nearest metro station. The rooms are spacious, stunning bathrooms, and clean. There is a washer/dryer in the rooms. Highly recommend and I will be staying here next time I am in Shanghai.

Meh, it’s getting worse slowly over time. They should reduce the prices while there’s construction inside the rooms. This is very disturbing. Also, it’s VERY dusty.

A tad run down, just a tad. Location is alright. Room is clean and has all basic amenities. Bedroom could be brighter. Enjoyed my stay. Dryer not able to fully dry the clothes.
