Nikko is a popular summer retreat for Tokyoites and the burial site of shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, known for its beautiful scenery. The sacred Shinkyo Bridge is conveniently located between the hotel and the station. However, the hotel doesn't offer a shuttle service, meaning the Fufu's renowned service is limited to within its premises. Once you step out, you're on your own. When I left, there were no taxis available, and no ride-hailing apps either. The staff, with a smile, simply pointed me in the direction of the public bus stop, under the blazing sun. The hotel's garden, though not huge, is quite beautiful. The rooms are spacious, the internet connection is decent, and the facilities are excellent, especially the hot springs – both the in-room ones and the large public bath are fantastic. The absolute highlight of this hotel is undoubtedly the dining. It was truly superb.

I was very impressed with my stay at Hotel Kinugawa Onsen 💙. The buffet spread for both breakfast and dinner was incredibly extensive, offering a huge variety of Japanese and other dishes. I was completely satisfied and felt it was excellent value for money. The onsen was also fantastic, very clean, and well-equipped with all the amenities needed for a truly relaxing soak. The hotel's surroundings were peaceful and immersed in nature, making it perfect for unwinding, recharging, and simply enjoying some leisurely time. If I have the chance, I would definitely love to stay here again 😊.

Getting from the hotel from the Yunishigawaonsen Station on the bus (the schedule is on the site of the onsen), the river with such history, of course, could provide transfer to the residents. Otherwise everything was great, most impressed by his own Onsen in a room with a view to the mountain river and the room itself, traditional but at the same time modern. Kaiseki's dinner was unusual and delicious, the view on breakfast was fascinating. The staff is very friendly to foreigners if you want to feel the traditional values of Japan, I recommend.

My first time visit to Japan and I was after an authentic Japanese accommodation. I booked a Japanese Style room with futon beds which were very comfortable. The room was beautiful and very clean. My booking also included breakfast and dinner which were always outstanding, beautifully prepared and unique food items. They utilized farm to table dining and the women explained each item served. They provided and encouraged one to wear Kimonos’s /tabi socks / slippers during one’s stay at, “ Nikko Iwaiyado Juyan “. Which further contributed to the authentic Japanese vibe. Indoor and outdoor hot tubs were amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The hotel is nestled within mountains and the setting serene. Hotel is family owned and they take pride in caring for their guests.

The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the view was great. The free cocktail and coffee services in the lobby were nice, as well as the free drink bar (including one beer per person) near the entrance to the hot spring. The paid massage service was also good. The meals were decent, especially the grilled beef, which simply melted in my mouth. The restaurant staff welcomed us warmly and provided friendly service. Cons: The variety of hot springs was lacking, and the view from the hot springs was almost blocked, which was disappointing. The lockers for valuables used combination dials, and foreign guests often didn’t know how to use them, locking their room keys inside and struggling to reopen them. This was a major inconvenience. They should switch to a key-and-wristband system like other onsen hotels. The room itself felt like an old, once-grand mansion that had seen better days. The furniture had many scratches, and the surfaces were worn and peeling. It made me think it must have been impressive in the past. Still, the room was definitely more spacious compared to other hotels.

The hotel is nestled in the mountains, but unfortunately, there's no shuttle service. If you take the public bus, you'll still have a bit of a walk to get there. Taking the inclined lift from the entrance to the lobby was a novel experience. Typically, hotels like this often have a lounge, but this one didn't. The room did come with two drip coffee bags and two types of snacks. The hot spring bath is a bit small, so you have to take turns. Other than that, everything else you'd expect was there. The meals were delicate and light, which suited our taste perfectly, though meat lovers might find them a bit too vegetarian. After dinner, we went for a stroll to the Frai-Aai Bridge and saw the impressive Red Ogre wielding a mace.

This hotel is recommended. Great buffets with variety of options (japanese, western, tempura, wagyu). Fruit taste was not as good as we expected though and you might not feel excited much about the food after a couple days as they’re pretty much the same. Wonderful public baht with generous amenities provided. Pajama is not needed if you enjoy wearing yukata and sock when sleeping at night as we did. Staff were also friendly. We had a great time overall.

I read the mixed reviews and was concerned about my choice, particularly those which highlighted some concerns on the service, etc. Generally, it's an acceptable hotel. We met friendly and very helpful foreign staff who were sincere. I think mainly because all the staff has to multi-task from the front desk to meals etc, they may not appear very attentive. But we had a good experience with the foreign staff so far, particularly Adihadara. I am not sure if I spelt his name correctly. I call him ”Adi” in short. He was eager to help my husband with our luggage and took note of our preference for a table at the window for our meals. The property does appear aged and some apparent wear and tear but their effort to maintain it at this level of general acceptable look and feel is commendable. At the end of our two nights stay, we did have an enjoyable time to chill and relax at the hotel.

We used this hotel for a family trip. We had a wonderful time, from the meals to the rooms. Our whole family was very satisfied. Thank you. Regarding the location, I rated it this way because our room was on the mountain side.

The location is great. We checked in around 2:30pm and were able to check in a little while later, but the lounge was so comfortable that we were able to spend a relaxing and luxurious time sipping beer and poached eggs while looking at the view. The food was served in small bowls, so it was easy to eat. I didn't like the fact that my room was on the parking lot side, but when I opened the window, sat down and looked outside, I could hear the birds chirping and had a great view. The staff were also kind.
