Kinugawa Onsen Hana No Yado Matsuya
"This hotel is a good onsen with good service and good food. It is in desperate need of investment with carpets worn, paint peeling etc. It lives off it's revenue when the owners ought to find the capital to bring it up to date."
Fairfield by Marriott Tochigi Nikko
"Pleasant stay. Hotel is kind of near top of the hill. There’s a pantry by the lobby and also a dining table. Coffee bean machine which is great. There is no restaurant for breakfast. Have to use coupon to redeem breakfast from reception. Japanese breakfast, cold. But there is a food truck outside the hotel which is convenient for hot breakfast like toast. So far room is cozy and water shower pressure is good. Some stains on the wall in the toilet."
Asaya
"We have a wonderful time at the place, it is quiet, clean, close to a beautiful stream and very relaxing for me and my partner to have a relax trip, will definitely come again."
The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko
"The view at the hotel was so nice, the room was so clean. and not to mention the service, every staff was super polite, we joined some of the hotel activities and tiff was so kind and professional! highly recommend this hotel!!"
Hoshino Resorts KAI Kinugawa
"An extravagant Onsen Hotel experience. I came in Autumn in the depth of fall colours. Every night the wind in the trees lulled me to bed. The rooms with the private tub and terrace are awesome. Dinner and breakfast is luxurious too with a sampling of local Nikko delicacies like Yuba. A hotel for adults looking for calm and solace."
Nikko Kanaya Hotel
"The hotel is very pretty from outside kindergartenjd the garden is spectacular. My room has been refurnished so it is it isv bea beautiful. Food is good too. Just that the place and my bath tub is quite ancient. Overall , a memorable stay"
Nikko Station Hotel Classic
"Located near Tobu Nikko station and the different bus routes, Nikko Hotel Classic was located perfectly. Its rooms were spacious and onsen located within the hotel has both outdoor and indoor pools. Would definitely recommend."
Hatago Nagomi
"We had and amazing time here! The staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. The onsen was so refreshing after a long day of travel. We also loved the beautiful setting next to the lake. It was so relaxing. Dinner was delicious and a neat cultural experience. If you're debating including dinner, definitely add it on. You won't regret it. When we left, the owner went above and beyond to help us out and make sure that we made it down the mountain to our next stop (edo wonderland) in a timely manner. Can't recommend highly enough!"
Koduchi No Yado Tsurukamedaikichi
"It’s been such a nice stay, the room is large and clean, the traditional decor is perfectly introduced into the vibe of Nikko. The dinner and breakfast were perfectly served. Plus, they have a very nice souvenir shop on the first floor, bought a few socks there. Finally, the onsen was brilliant, also large room and a small onsen outside on a balcony. I regret staying only for one night."

Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel
"GOOD GOOD GOOD"
Kanaya Hotel Kinugawa
"This amazing hotel is located in the heart of Kinugawa with views over the gorge and is a 15 minute drive to Nikko. On arrival there are staff to take your car and bags and to check you in which is a seamless experience. There is coffee and tea available on arrival while you wait. This occurs in a pleasant lounge overlooking the forested valley. Across from the lounge is a well appointed shop. We had room 212 for three nights which was a spacious room done in traditional Japanese style. Although plainly decorated it had a very authentic feel and design. The room had a nice balcony but this could not easily be used as the afternoons were hot. There was minimal view from this room limited to trees and forested hillside and not the river. Perhaps the higher floors would likely have a better view. Spacious bathroom with a separate toilet. Good shower but no external curtain or privacy screen available. Along with the Onsen being out in the open on the balcony we found this lacked privacy for our liking. There was excellent responsive air conditioning. The room rate includes free mini bar with beer and iced tea and water. Only negative was poor quality towels and tissues. All staff were extremely attentive and nothing is too much for them. Excellent Alacarte breakfast was brought directly to your table. You are offered a choice between Japanese and Western breakfast. Some options rotated each day. Apart from this the choice was limited to 3 types of eggs. Everything was quality. Included in the rate was half board dinner each evening. Whilst you are at dinner your futon bed is made up in your room complete with turn down service which was usually a snack for later in the evening. The meal is 2 plus hours and very Japanese but again absolute quality. After three nights it does feel excessive to be enjoying a lengthy multi course menu but we did get to experience many meals that we would not normally try. The attention to detail went so far as having different crockery for each course. Some of these were very artistic. Overall this is an amazing one off experience although you do pay for the privilege."
Kamenoi Hotel Okunikko
"Really enjoyed my stay, lots of locals come here. Outdoor onsen was good, buffet food was decent too (favourite was the beef!). Extra points for the massage chair which was really a good relieve after a long day. Only drawback is pillow was too small and too soft which gave me neck aches the next morning. Location a little far out from town, would need a car to get here for convenience. But overall a great stay and will come recommend!"
Kinugawa Grand Hotel Yume No Toki
"The hotel is big and has a nice onsen pool. Surprisingly great food with kaiseki style"
LiVEMAX RESORT KAWAJI
"A bit disappointed, no air conditioner in restaurants and also game house, toilet is smelly but service is good"
Itoen Hotel New Sakura
"Room located far away from the onsen. Need to go through a pathway that exposes to rain."
Kinugawa Plaza Hotel
"First of all, when I arrived, I was told that I had no reservation. I was told that there was no reservation even though they had called the day before to confirm, and they took about 20 minutes to explain the situation after I showed them the reservation website. The food was terrible. There were no taxis, and you were not allowed to wash your body or head in the private bath. I will never go there again."
Fufu Nikko
"This was our first Fufu experience and wow what a way to start. Everything here is impeccable, from the moment you we arrived at the carpark, you'd instantly know that you are in good hands. Every single staff was lovely to interact with, service was personable and extremely proactive and attentive. Food was great and the drinks selection was decent - they offered an agreeable champagne for free drink happy hour and if you want something nicer, a lot of good wines were available at extremely reasonable prices. The hotel had a feeling of a luxury safari tent or of the best of Amans. It is everything that a luxury hotel/ryokan could and should be. Even the other guests were all courteous, polite and friendly. We were constantly surprised by all the small gestures and stuff that the staff prepared for us. We won’t go into too much detail as we don’t want to spoil it for you, but if you were to visit Japan, you must make a detour to visit Fufu Nikko. It’s just THAT good. It's better than any hotels in Japan (even the Amans, and we consider ourselves Amanjunkies). Room: We stayed at the lowest room category Stylish Suite. We were perfectly happy with it. We feel that rooms on the first floors offer easiest accessibility. We would likely be staying for 3 nights for our next visit, as Nikko has so much to offer and is the highlight of our trip."
Nanaeyae
"Recommended Hotel for family"
Kinugawa Onsen Hotel
"Excellent"
Hotel Shikisai
"Good services and facility."
Rakuten STAY Motel Nikko Kinugawa
"This motel provides a fantastic, home-like, and comfortable experience with excellent in-room amenities like a washing machine, artificial hot spring bath, rice cooker, and induction cooker. The location is convenient with nearby 7-11 access, making it worth the stay. However, the check-in process is inefficient due to tablet-only registration for all guests, a challenging remote operator, and a lack of elevators. This is a great, affordable choice for travellers looking for a "home away from home" experience in Japan. If the management improves the digital check-in procedure and provides better on-site support, this would be a perfect stay."
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Kinugawa Kanko Hotel
"Onsen is very good but the dinner is less variety of food. Nice facilities in the hotel and room types"
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Hotel Kinugawa Gyoen
"nice place下,worh traveling again"
Kinugawa Onsen Kashobou Fukumatsu
"Communication was very poor, internet didn't work most of the time, the room was chilly and you couldn't take a morning shower if you wanted to. Overall, it still is a bargain for what's available."
Sakahijiri Nikko
"Lovely place to rest and experience a traditional Japanese living. Beautiful ambiance. Loved the onsen, japanese-style PJs and warm coffee on arrival. Members of staff were lovely to us."
Yutorelo Nikko
"Good place, good view, good food, good staff. Recommended!"
