Anshin Oyado Ogikubo near Shinjuku Reviews

Anshin Oyado Ogikubo is a well-equipped capsule hotel with complete men’s amenities — no need to bring your own. The location is slightly out of the city, about a few stations away from Shinjuku, and around 45 minutes to other major attractions. However, Ogikubo itself is a charming small town worth exploring — quiet, clean, and perfect for relaxation. Conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the train station.

Surprisingly good amenities for a capsule hotel

Compared to other facilities, it was quiet and I was able to stay comfortably. The large public bath was also spacious, so I was very satisfied.

I stayed here for two nights on Friday and Saturday for a trip. It's very easy to find, about a three-minute walk from Ogikubo Station. I only had a brief interaction with the staff at check-in and when I was buying some things, but I received very polite and pleasant service. I've also stayed at the Akihabara branch, and it seemed less crowded than the Akihabara branch, and the lockers were spacious and comfortable. I didn't use it, but there was a separate shelf for storing suitcases, which many people did. The lounge offers free drinks and manga, and rice seems to be available except late at night, with furikake (rice seasoning) also available. Alcohol and popcorn are also available in the evenings. It seems they also serve late-night noodles. They also serve curry in the morning, but I found it a little too salty. The rice was also a little hard. However, I'm very grateful for the service that allows me to fill my stomach at any time, especially in these times. The hotel also sells cup ramen, potato chips, ice cream, and soft drinks, so if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, you can enjoy those. At other locations, if you're staying for multiple nights you apparently have to leave once for cleaning, but this doesn't seem to be the case at the Ogikubo location. However, cleaning hours are from 9am to 4pm, so if you're in the capsule during that time the cleaning noise can be bothersome, so you need to keep that in mind. Perhaps thanks to that, the building was kept clean and I had a pleasant stay. Hotel prices in Tokyo are rising noticeably, to the point where I hesitate to stay even in business hotels, but Ogikubo is relatively close, less than a 10-minute train ride from Shinjuku, and you can stay for around 7,000 yen per night and receive comfortable service, so this hotel will definitely be one of my options when I stay in Tokyo in the future!

Naturally, it is smaller than other stores in Shinjuku, Akihabara, etc., and as a result, the services in the baths and lounges are less extensive. On the other hand, it does offer a tent sauna, which is a service not available at other stores, so if you're interested, I recommend going.

Although I used a machine to check in, it was not smooth. I booked a room with breakfast included, but I was disappointed to find out that it was just the usual free curry and all-you-can-eat ochazuke. It's true that the buffet was an additional charge, but I felt they didn't need to specify that breakfast was included. The cheaper plan without breakfast was fine too.

It's great that there are so many free services available. You can choose your shampoo and conditioner, and free toothbrushes, razors, and towels are great, but they also offer free curry rice and free alcohol, which is just too good. It's definitely worth considering visiting.

The facilities in the hotel were very clean and tidy, the bath was clean, and the amenities were excellent.
