Takaragawa Onsen Ousenkaku ★★★
"We went there for the outdoor onsen which was great but service could be improved"
Kawaba Onsen Kayabuki No Gensen Yuyado Yutorian&Annex Yuzan ★★★
"We used this hotel to celebrate my mother's 77th birthday. We were impressed from the outside even before entering the inn. It is clean and has a relaxing Japanese atmosphere. It seemed like it took a long time to check in because they were busy, but the welcome drink soothed us. The long corridor, electric cart, gondola, and stairs to get to the room on the 6th floor were tough for my 77-year-old mother, but by the time she went down to the bath, she was already enjoying it and said, "You get used to it, but it doesn't bother me, but I'd get lost if I was alone." She walked as if she was going for a walk. Each dish was carefully prepared and the seasoning was just right, so my mother enjoyed it. They also accommodated the men's requests for rice, and the white rice was delicious! The service of the person in charge of the meals was wonderful, and it didn't seem like a job, but their heartfelt service made the meal even more delicious and enjoyable. They even prepared purple chanchanko for my mother's 77th birthday. I don't think I told them it was for her 77th birthday, but I think they noticed when I wrote "Congratulations on your 77th birthday" on the cake message on the online ordering service and prepared it for me! What a thoughtful touch! My siblings who went with us all said "We want to come again!" and best of all, my mother was smiling and happy the whole time, so I'm really glad we chose Kawaba Onsen Yuurian. Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful and memorable time. Thank you so much."
Tatsumikan ★★★
"It was a nice, clean inn. There were many different services available, and I regret not checking in sooner. The food was also very delicious."
Oze Kogen Hotel ★★
"I used it to go to Oze, but it was convenient because there was a pick-up to Hatomachi Pass. The meal was a buffet, but it was delicious. After all, it was very reasonable and good."
Minakami Hotel Juraku ★★★
"I think it's a good place to reset. It's nice that you can drink as much as you want from check-in to check-out. I came by car, so it was a shame that I couldn't drink in the morning. It can't be helped because of the location, but the roads are narrow when you come by car, and the Joetsu Line runs right there, so if you are worried about the sound of freight trains at night, it might be better not to go to the river side. I love trains, so I was very satisfied."
Hirando Ryokan ★★
"The proprietress is kind and the dinner is rich and delicious. Take breakfast early and take the rice balls in the morning The accommodation is clean and quiet. The water quality of the soup house is great."
Minakami Onsen Aratashi Minakami ★★★★
"The hotel service was great, I left items on the bus and the front desk immediately asked the bus company with me and the missing items were recovered, thanks to the front desk The hotel rooms were clean and had a private bath"
Houshi Onsen Chojukan ★★★★
"They employ Nepalese staff in the customer service department, so it should be fine for foreigners too. I simply soaked in the hot springs and released my stress."
Ryokan Tanigawa ★★★
"I visited this inn for work. The sister inn Senjyuan was really good, so I decided to stay here this time! I wanted to relax by myself, so I booked one with an open-air bath. I made a reservation on the day, but they were flexible in their response. The hospitality was reminiscent of Senjyuan, from the moment I arrived until the time I was shown around. The food was also very satisfying, and made generous use of local ingredients. I really enjoyed this traditional hot spring inn."

Chalet la Neige
"Highly recommended. The host took very good care of me. Breakfast and dinner were provided. It was like fine dining. Every meal was delicious. The room was clean. There was an onsen and the atmosphere was very good. If I come back to this area, I will stay here again. If I come in a month with snow, it should be very good."
Sarugakyo Hotel
"We stayed for one night in late November. It was a shame that the autumn leaves were at their final stage. The tofu kaiseki cuisine was delicious, tasty, and colorful. Many of the surrounding hotels and inns have closed, so the scenery feels lonely. I recommend this place for those who want to enjoy both the baths and the food."
Kanzan
"The owner is very friendly. Boutique hotel with 5 Rooms and are very spacious and good. Three onsens here and one offer great views of the mountains. Price includes free access to the onsens and half board. Half board well worth it as Japanese breakfast and dinner is excellent. One of best hotels we ever stayed in."
Kankoso
"It can't be helped, but it was inconvenient that there was no water in the room."
Minakami Onsen KKR Hotel Minakami Suimeiso
"A little old but solid building with facilities. Originally for national public servants? I stayed as a visitor at the facility. It may be unavoidable because it is a visitor, but the meal was a room meal. The food was very delicious. We recommend a small family bath next to the large communal bath. Maybe it's a free-flowing bath."
Sasanoyu
"Friendly English staff speaking. Good onsen."
Apple farm glamping villa HARASAWA
Minakami Onsengo Yubiso Onsen Hotel Yunojin
"Restaurant close early . Cannot order food . Vending machines only take cash"
Pension Asanebou
"This is the best stay I’ve ever stayed It’s a family run pension with two super friendly golden retrievers, the whole house is newly built, extremely clean, and decorated with good taste The dinner and breakfast are western- Japanese fusion, everything is homemade, definitely worth trying There is a nice and clean private onsen, or you can take a bus to have a day trip to other bigger onsen Minakami itself is a countryside area, and the pension is right next to the bus station There is literally nothing around the stay, so you need to get everything you need in Minakami station, but I think it’s a characteristic rather than disadvantage"
Mizubasho No Yado Higashi
"It was a nice inn with a nice hot spring. The staff at the inn are very polite and will make you want to come back again. The rooms are also kept clean."
Kinseikan Seseragi
"It was my first trip to Japan with my family~ We enjoyed the hot springs to our heart's content, and everyone was so friendly that the whole family was satisfied~♡"
Fukunoya
"The place was clean and the hot springs were great, but when we arrived for dinner, which was supposed to start at 6:30 pm, it wasn't ready. We were kept waiting, and even after being seated, it took over 30 minutes for the shabu-shabu pot and meat to arrive... some people waited for an hour. The website showed luxurious tempura and other dishes, but all we got was shabu-shabu, sushi, simmered dishes, and jelly. Breakfast was also disappointing, and this was with two meals included, costing over 10,000 yen per person compared to a room-only stay! And to top it all off, there were only about five staff members, so I wonder how they plan to get through a public holiday... All the staff were foreigners, and their Japanese was broken. It was heartbreaking to see one person working so hard and apologizing. It's such a shame, especially since they said they were trying to make a living by renovating a closed-down inn."
Kinshuusanso
"To say that it is a luxury ryokan in a beautiful setting with perfect service and amazing food is a joke. It is a standard business class hotel with an enhanced bathroom - big soaking tub and big picture window - it has no decor, no closet, no space. There is no public area at the hotel (no sitting room, terrace, anything), no outside grounds/gardens (it just sits in the curve of a serpentine road), no views, just your room and a long corridor. The service is non-existent as there are only 2 people on staff at any given time at the hotel, and they are useless and rude, they don't even answer emails or phone calls. Refused to serve us dinner although it is out of town with no other food service nearby. USD300 was a big mistake, $100 would have been more adequate."
