Zazan Minakami ★★★
"Good price. Food was average. Room was really close to the railway and really noisy when the train was passing between 10PM and 12PM"
Houshi Onsen Chojukan ★★★★
"We were in Hoshi Onsen 25 years ago, and we loved it so much that we decided to visit it once more during our recent Japan trip. Hoshi is one of the most traditional and older onsen in Japan, with more than one hundred years of history. Walking in its corridors or lingering in Hoshi-no-yu (the main indoor bath) you can really feel as if time had completely stopped and as you have plunged in a remote era. Yet it provides any possible comfort. Important renovations have been made, but always with great taste and respectful of tradition. Dinner is excellent and also the open air bath is really beautiful. The surroundings are also very nice and deserve a walk. It is a bit expensive, but no doubt worth the price"
Minakami Onsen Aratashi Minakami ★★★★
"For a hotel on the water, it's quite new. The decor and facilities are modern and minimalist. The rooms are spacious, with private hot spring baths on the balconies. The mattresses are so comfortable I want to buy the same ones. The food is okay, but the Japanese breakfast isn't very filling. The nearest convenience store is about 300 meters away, which is convenient. The first-floor public bath area is small, and the view is mostly obstructed by latticework, which is a waste of such a good location."
Minakami Hotel Juraku ★★★
"We went with my daughter, who will soon be 2 years old, and my grandparents! Just like last time, all the staff greeted us with smiles and kindness, so we felt good from the start. Also, this time was the 100th anniversary, so we were able to enjoy the free flow at any time! Personally, I was disappointed that the ramen shop was closed at night lol I will definitely come again!"
Fukunoya ★★★★
"Overall, it's clean and tidy. There's a step up at the entrance, but shoes are allowed inside, so be aware of that. There are no restaurants or convenience stores nearby, and the last bus leaves early, so those looking for a room without meals should consider their options."
Matsunoi ★★★★
"Overall I'm glad I stayed there. It happened to be when the fireworks were being displayed, so perhaps I enjoyed it even more than usual. I thought most of the food at the buffet was delicious. I particularly liked the fresh-squeezed orange juice machine that was provided at breakfast. Most of the staff were foreigners, but they were quick and efficient, which was nice."
Minakami Kogen Hotel 200 ★★★★
"Excellent"
Sasanoyu ★★
"Friendly English staff speaking. Good onsen."
Tatsumikan ★★★
"The inn staff were very friendly and helpful. By chance, an employee of Tatsumikan gave way to me while I was driving, so I think it's a really kind and welcoming place."

Kawaba Onsen Kayabuki No Gensen Yuyado Yutorian&Annex Yuzan
"We used this hotel to celebrate my mother's 77th birthday. We were impressed from the outside even before entering the inn. It is clean and has a relaxing Japanese atmosphere. It seemed like it took a long time to check in because they were busy, but the welcome drink soothed us. The long corridor, electric cart, gondola, and stairs to get to the room on the 6th floor were tough for my 77-year-old mother, but by the time she went down to the bath, she was already enjoying it and said, "You get used to it, but it doesn't bother me, but I'd get lost if I was alone." She walked as if she was going for a walk. Each dish was carefully prepared and the seasoning was just right, so my mother enjoyed it. They also accommodated the men's requests for rice, and the white rice was delicious! The service of the person in charge of the meals was wonderful, and it didn't seem like a job, but their heartfelt service made the meal even more delicious and enjoyable. They even prepared purple chanchanko for my mother's 77th birthday. I don't think I told them it was for her 77th birthday, but I think they noticed when I wrote "Congratulations on your 77th birthday" on the cake message on the online ordering service and prepared it for me! What a thoughtful touch! My siblings who went with us all said "We want to come again!" and best of all, my mother was smiling and happy the whole time, so I'm really glad we chose Kawaba Onsen Yuurian. Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful and memorable time. Thank you so much."
Kanzan
"The owner is very friendly. Boutique hotel with 5 Rooms and are very spacious and good. Three onsens here and one offer great views of the mountains. Price includes free access to the onsens and half board. Half board well worth it as Japanese breakfast and dinner is excellent. One of best hotels we ever stayed in."
Chalet la Neige
"Marvellous stay !!! very nice and helpful people, delicious and generous food l Clean and comfortable and very very good location on the ski fields . Great place to stay !"
Sarugakyo Hotel
"We stayed for one night in late November. It was a shame that the autumn leaves were at their final stage. The tofu kaiseki cuisine was delicious, tasty, and colorful. Many of the surrounding hotels and inns have closed, so the scenery feels lonely. I recommend this place for those who want to enjoy both the baths and the food."
Takaragawa Onsen Ousenkaku
"Everything was perfect ! Excellent japanese meals"
Bettei Senjyuan
"The service is very good and thoughtful, and the environment is first-class. There was a small episode at the beginning, but the customer service solved it quickly."
Hotel Yu-No-Jin
"I was looking for a place to stay last minute and stumbled upon this hotel. It seems like an older establishment that's been renovated, but it retained the charm of a long-standing inn. The hot spring baths, which alternate between men and women, offered great views and were very satisfying, fitting for a traditional hot spring inn. However, I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast buffet; if you went later, some items weren't refilled once they ran out."
Onsen Theme Park Ryuudou
"We spent a wonderful week at the Ryudo onsen. I've read lots of other reviews in different languages where people complain about the cleanliness being subpar and similar things. These things always depend on what you expect. This onsen is certainly not the newest and has a long history. For us, however, everything here was positive: we really liked our room - you could actually say a suite with a separate bedroom, living room, bathroom and our own garden onsen if you like - and we had a really relaxing week here. The fact that this place has 18 different baths, each with its own separate design, is the highlight. The food is excellent - every day there was a typical Japanese breakfast and dinner with a lively selection of vegetables, meat and fish dishes. The nature is beautiful and invites you to take long walks. The lobby is comfortably warm and the free Wi-Fi is extremely convenient for people who don't have Japanese cell phones. We traveled all the way from Munich and I suspect it won't be the last time."

Kurayashiki
"The bath door is broken and sometimes comes off and falls over when opened. Even when customers point this out, they don't even put up a notice and just put the door back in place. At night, the lights are turned off on the way to the smoking area, so you have to walk in pitch black on uneven ground. It was my first time, and my companion fell and got injured. They advertise it as a free-flowing bath, but sometimes there's no hot water. In the morning, the indoor bath was lukewarm. If you write about this in a review, it will be deleted. They secretly complain to customers and tell them to leave."
Hirando Ryokan
"The proprietress is kind and the dinner is rich and delicious. Take breakfast early and take the rice balls in the morning The accommodation is clean and quiet. The water quality of the soup house is great."
Kinseikan Seseragi
"This was truly the first time in years I'd received such genuine hospitality at a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn). The attentiveness of the staff and the quality of service were superb!"
Kinshuusanso
"To say that it is a luxury ryokan in a beautiful setting with perfect service and amazing food is a joke. It is a standard business class hotel with an enhanced bathroom - big soaking tub and big picture window - it has no decor, no closet, no space. There is no public area at the hotel (no sitting room, terrace, anything), no outside grounds/gardens (it just sits in the curve of a serpentine road), no views, just your room and a long corridor. The service is non-existent as there are only 2 people on staff at any given time at the hotel, and they are useless and rude, they don't even answer emails or phone calls. Refused to serve us dinner although it is out of town with no other food service nearby. USD300 was a big mistake, $100 would have been more adequate."
Minakamisansou
"This is a genuine free-flowing spring that you can drink. It is completely different from the usual "self-proclaimed free-flowing springs". I had high expectations because I read in a book that they put a lot of effort into the food, but it seems like an old story, perhaps because the cook is different from before. The current head chef is from Kyushu, so the food is like that. The food was... for the price. In terms of taste and content. However, the quality of the spring water is so excellent that it makes up for that. Also, I don't want to tell you about it here, so I can't write about it, but if you have a certain hobby, there is a great treat for you. So, I will definitely be returning."
