"Very old hotel, excellent location, 6 minutes walk from Havent train station It’s very good to walk around the town in the morning. There is a Chinese restaurant on the corner of the hotel that provides take-out. Public transport from London to Havent is more difficult (train, bus, train)"

"Check-in at the front desk was swift. The breakfast staff were friendly, and the breakfast spread was diverse with plenty of options to choose from. It would be even better if they offered fried eggs. When we accidentally left our room key in the room, the front desk staff promptly reissued one for us."

"Much as I like village Hotels I wish right across the country they would train bar staff to be more attentive Because of the design of the bar they more often than not serve people approaching from reception when people have been waiting on the other side of the bar First world problem but universally annoying"

"We recently stayed at the Marriott Hotel Portsmouth. While the rooms were spacious and comfortable, what followed left a very bitter aftertaste. During our stay, some of our baby’s utensils were stolen from the room, items we had brought especially for our infant. We reported this to the hotel three separate times. Not once did anyone follow up. No updates, no acknowledgment, nothing. Finally, during checkout, we reminded them again, only to be told they would take our details and get back to us. Unsurprisingly, we never heard back. What’s most disappointing isn’t the stolen items—though that in itself is unacceptable, but the complete lack of courtesy, empathy, or responsibility shown by the staff. For a hotel carrying the Marriott name, this was a serious letdown."

"The dining room and bar area very cold did not appear to have any heating. Room 135 never did get any hot water as at the end of the corridor. Insufficient staff but those in attendance worked very hard."
