"Old pub with character. Century-old bathroms have a shower over the bath; can be a bit difficult to negotiate. Old one Gents toilet and one Ladies toilet for all 14 or so roooms currently used. New owner is renovating. They need to combine 2 of the small rooms to make one bigger one with ensuite. Then they can put up ther prices, which are very low. But they could retain some of the small rooms at low tariff. Community kitchen provides breakfast foods. There was a squaky door next to our room. I went down the back exit with some bikers who were leaving early. Got some WD40 from my car, but found that the bikers had locked the back gate when they left. I had to climb over the 7 foot fence. Got a bloody leg. Not that it worried me; I'm always getting scratches at my own place. But everyone asked how I got it."

"We went to Kingaroy for the Labour Day long weekend and stayed at Hillview Cottages. We stayed in a particularly quirky little cottage known as “The Church.” According to our host, the cottage was originally a church in the nearby little community of Memerambi. The cottage was incredibly peaceful with beautiful scenery looking towards the Wondai State Forest. It had everything you could need including a spacious living area, kitchen and bathroom that included a spa. Continental breakfast was included and there was no shortage of food to get the day off to a great start. We stayed for two nights and could easily have stayed for longer. There are numerous things to do in and around Kingaroy and Hillview Cottages is a great spot to launch out from. The cottages are located a little outside of the town but that adds to the charm. We will certainly be back! Thanks to Sheralyn and Dan for their hospitality."

"Quite a nice surprise, only needing an overnight stay as passing through. Generous sized, near new rooms, well equipped, great to have a full size TV with good sound & colour (and reception!) Staff were laid-back, friendly & helpful. In-room meals were excellent with a complimentary beverage on offer at time of our stay. Bathroom well laid out and again, plenty of room, only downside was a crappy showerhead - one of those 'multi-function' jobs that didn't 'function' properly. Would definitely stay here again."
