"Large complex with swimming pool access and outlook as our room was on the ground floor. Great to have a walk-in shower and air con worked well. Only gripe was the inadequate sheet that doubled as the blanket - completely lacking in warmth and cover. No extra blanket was provided in the cupboard, only pillows. If there wasn't enough parking available at night, you could park off-street next to the complex."

"It was a very cozy hostel. The mixed share rooms have individual beds instead of bunk beds, so you don't have to disturb someone else's sleep, which is a big plus! The owner is a very calm and kind person, and he starts by giving us a thorough tour of the surrounding area and the hostel. There is a garden and a pool, and the kitchen is equipped with salt, pepper, and oil, and we could drink tea and coffee freely. It was also nice that we didn't have to buy a few condiments just to cook for ourselves for a few nights. The people staying there were friendly, and it's been a while since I've come across such a cozy hostel. I'd like to use it again when I visit Cairns! I really recommend it to everyone!"

The location is definitely one of the highlights—it’s conveniently situated within walking distance of the ferry terminal, which was perfect for my Great Barrier Reef outing. Additionally, having supermarkets nearby made it easy to pick up groceries and essentials, adding to the convenience. The room itself was well-equipped, especially for longer stays. It came with a full set of cooking utensils and kitchen facilities, which made it easy to prepare meals and feel at home. However, one drawback was the WiFi. The signal in the room was quite weak, which made it difficult to get online consistently. This was a bit frustrating, especially when I needed to do some research or planning for the next day’s activities. I often had to move around to find a better signal, which wasn’t ideal. Overall, Southern Cross Atrium Apartments offers great value with its prime location and self-contained rooms, but improving the WiFi would make the stay even better for travelers who need reliable internet access."
