#Onsen Hot Pools Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Beautiful hot spring | Onsen that needs to be booked two months in advance
| Onsen.♨Onsen wooden barrel hot spring/onsen hot pools
: New Zealand
This hot spring is located about 20min drive from Queenstown, it can be considered the ceiling of the hot spring world! Soaking in the hot spring while looking at the snow-capped mountains outside the window⛰, quiet and comfortable time~ And it's super comfortable to soak in, the water is also very clean!!! There are a row of adjustment buttons next to it, you can adjust the temperature yourself. At the same time, the privacy is very good, each room is allowed to use for 1 hour, it's enough to soak in the hot spring during leisure time. This time we went with four people, worried that one pool would not be enough to soak in, so we booked two rooms, but there was no need to worry. It's spacious enough to swim haha
Of course, how can you have a hot spring without drinks☕ and snacks? The hotel🏨 will prepare drinks, mineral water, ice cream and chocolate in advance. The photos taken are really good, and it's more than enough to post on social media.
The only downside is that it's hard to book, we booked two months in advance and only got the afternoon time, the sunset time slot was sold out early. If you plan to go to Queenstown, New Zealand, go and soak in the hot spring♨!!! The ice cream from Patagonia in the town is also super delicious🍦😋
Relax in a onsen with an amazing view
We traveled to the South Island of New Zealand by car from the end of June to the beginning of July, which belongs to winter season, so how can we miss the experience of soaking in hot springs! Although the online reviews of Onsen Hot Pools are very mixed, when we made an appointment on the official website nearly three months before departure, we found that many time slots in July had already been booked. Seeing that it was so popular, we decided to give it a try. Successfully booked a traditional private indoor hot spring at dusk.
Our reserved time slot was from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. We arrived 15 minutes early as required. The staff were very friendly. We choose our drinks first, the staff said they would send them to the hot springs with snacks later. At 4:55, the staff led us to the private hot spring, and also served drinks and snacks, indicating that there would be a reminder 10 minutes before the end of the time slot.
We changed our swimsuits, there were shower facilities in the private hot springs, and after a quick shower, we immediately enjoyed the hot springs. Spring water dynamics, lights, door switches, etc., can be automatically adjusted by action buttons right next to the hot spring. While enjoying the hot springs to relax our body and mind, we enjoyed the sunset and the beautiful mountains.
One hour passed without knowing it, the fatigue of rushing for the trip for several days was relieved, and we all left with satisfied smiles.
Overall, we recommend everyone to try it out. The key points of the reservation are as follows:
1. It is convenient and easy to make an
appointment on the official website, and it can
also be cancelled free of charge at the
specified time
2. There are two types of hot springs: outdoor and
indoor. It is also available for 4 people to book
together. The more number of people to share,
the cheaper for each
3. Each session is an hour
4. Be sure to make an appointment at least 2-3
months in advance as if super popular
5. The hot spring is currently undergoing
expansion work, so arrive early to be on time
You need to report to the front desk 15 minutes
before your scheduled time slot
6. It doesn't matter if you are not self-driving,
because they provide hourly pick-up and drop
off service, a small from the centre of
Queenstown.
#can’t miss experience
Everyone has to try their Onsen hot pool when you are in Queenstown, New Zealand. Their idyllic cedar-lined hot tubs and a unique kiwi twist on a Japanese tradition, their exclusive pools are filled with pure water from the surrounding mountains which is heated to approx. 38.3 degrees to relax your body and soul. We received individual towel plus a complimentary drink and snack (we chose beer and ice cream) to enjoy during our rejuvenating soak.
Not to forget the awesome view that will make your experience of the Onsen more wholesome.

Best Onsen Experience in New Zealand
Onsen Hot Pools Queenstown is a boutique spa that will give you the ultimate relaxation experience. It might be quite pricey as it costs $150 for 2 pax for a one hour exclusive use of an onsen tub, but it is no doubt the best activity that I paid for in New Zealand!
In your private room, there is a retractable roof which allows you to switch from an indoor to an outdoor onsen experience with the push of a button. The moment the roof opens, you will be able to enjoy stunning panoramic views of the mountains across the rivers. We spent most of our time taking photos and I wish I had more time to actually enjoy the onsen experience. If only it wasn’t that pricey.

The GREATEST Hot Pool Experience in NZ!
If you are in the South Island of New Zealand, especially when visiting the Queenstown area, then you MUST VISIT this place!
Located just 10mins drive away from the city of Queenstown, the onsen hot pool is very accessible for those driving and even if you are not, there is a free shuttle bus that comes along every booking as well!
Words can’t properly describe how amazing the experience is in this place. The private hot tubs overlooks the river and picturesque mountain, giving all visitors a perfect relaxation experience! Depending on the season you are here, and whether it is the day or night time, you are bound to be in the best hot pool experience in your life.
These private tubs are perfect for individual or couples usage and I must say time has never ever pass so fast in my life before while inside the cabins! There is also a retractable roof for those who prefers an indoor private experience, although I would highly recommend to open up the roof as soon as you are there.
REMEMBER, to make advance booking because the place is sold out weeks in advance usually!

The famous hot spring in Queenstown, New Zealand | Onsen Hot Pools
| Onsen Hot Pools.♨Store name: ONSEN Hot Pools
📍Address: 162 Arthurs Point Road, Arthurs Point, Queenstown 9371
From the moment you land in Queenstown, you'll be stunned by the continuous rolling snow mountains! The first thing to do is to book the snow mountain hot spring in advance. Each room can accommodate up to 4 people, we booked the indoor one, and the moment we opened the door, we were amazed by the beautiful scenery⛰! The room is well equipped with a shower and bath towels, and each person will also receive a drink and a snack, the black chocolate flavored ice cream🍦is highly recommended, it's really delicious😋. There are 5 buttons next to the hot spring barrel, which can remind you of the time, turn on/off the lights, open the gate, and adjust the water temperature. The total hot spring time is only 1 hour, and a 10-minute advance notice will be given when it's almost time, so you don't have to worry about suddenly overtime~
📷Photo tips:
1. First, open all the rolling doors, both the whole hot spring barrel and close-up shots look good
2. It is recommended to take photos before enjoying the hot spring♨, otherwise you will not have enough time
3. Wear tight swimsuits or bikinis, just don't choose the flowing ones
4. It is recommended to book in the afternoon or at sunset, avoid choosing at night (it is said that you can't see anything at night)
New Zealand 🇳🇿 | Queenstown in Fairy Tales
Finally checked in at Queenstown, New Zealand 💜💙💛
🤍Picture 1⃣️-4⃣️ are activities on the steamboat and ranch - girls love flowers, plants, and small animals the most (BBQ is very average 🤮).
💛Pic 5⃣️ Check in at Onsen hot springs - the scenery is really great, brought snacks, drinks and alcohol in the set. One hour is just right!
💙Pic 6⃣️-8⃣️ Queenstown - In summer, it doesn't get dark until nearly 10:30pm in Queenstown at night. 🌄Paired with a slight cool breeze and an ice-cold beer, it's really comfortable 😌.
💚Image 9⃣️ is the homestay we booked - very clean and beautiful, with a separate small courtyard and balcony. You can choose to sit on the balcony in the evening and enjoy the scenery. You can directly see the lake and sunset 🪄.
💜Small tips:
Sunscreen‼️ Sunscreen‼️ Sunscreen‼️
Queenstown's food recommendations are mediocre, we ate instant noodles for three days 😖
If you want to play a series of activities such as bungee jumping, swing, and rafting, renting a car is not very convenient. Each tour group will have shuttle service. (Queenstown is prone to traffic jams)
There are a lot of bugs, remember to bring mosquito repellent patches 😌.
