This hotel was definitely out of our expectations. New and modern. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Airport drop off and pick up service is available 24/7. Literally just come to the reception and staff will arrange transportation immediately. No need to make any reservations. Hotel room was big and clean. Modern design with technology. All the amenities were well equipped. Comfortable bed to rest after your long journey and to get prepared for next day flight. Big big thumb up.

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Potala Palace. It's also just a few hundred meters, a walkable distance, from Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street. The biggest highlight is the view; breakfast is served on the fifth-floor restaurant, offering an expansive and perfect view of the Potala Palace from afar. The night view, in particular, is stunning. Our room was a 180-degree unobstructed view room. While a bit more expensive, the unparalleled scenery makes it the best choice for viewing the Potala Palace from a distance. The breakfast was plentiful with a good variety, including local specialties like tsampa, and delicious butter tea and sweet tea. The room facilities were quite comprehensive, including a dedicated nasal oxygen concentrator. The room also provided complimentary Coca-Cola and glacial bottled water, with refills available, and a fresh fruit platter daily. We even received a small souvenir upon check-in. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

First of all, I really want to praise the owner. He was incredibly dedicated and responsible, and we were deeply moved. We stayed for three days, and on the last day we were going to do the pilgrimage around Mount Kailash. We overestimated ourselves, thinking we could finish the pilgrimage in one day. However, we didn't reach Zhire Monastery until 6:00 PM. Then, at noon, we contacted the owner to say we couldn't come down that day and asked if he could pack our things, cancel our reservation, and let us stay there after we finished the pilgrimage. I was amazed by the owner's generosity. He said it was no problem, it's the off-season, and he understood we couldn't finish the pilgrimage in one day, so he reserved the room for us. I was truly touched. However, due to our physical condition, we eventually had to call a rescue vehicle to come down; there was no way to rest on the mountain. This hotel is very clean and hygienic. The bathrooms have separate shower and toilet areas, which was very satisfying for us, as we are from the south. Oxygen cylinders are also available for rent in the hotel lobby. The parking lot is also very convenient. Our travel companions stayed at other hotels, but we ended up staying here because the cleanliness was excellent, the toiletries were comprehensive, the hairdryer was very good, and there was underfloor heating and an oxygen machine. I still wouldn't recommend staying in those teahouse-style accommodations.

The environment, facilities, services, and location are great ～～ You can see the blue sky and white clouds when you open your eyes. There are menus of various restaurants in the inn, which can be delivered directly to the inn. Can you also be hungry? It will be delivered to the garden on the second floor. The rooms are clean and tidy, including the public areas. The inn has an elevator. After the check-in, the boss will still help to send the luggage to the room. It is a 5-minute walk from the Princess Wencheng to watch the show and a 10-minute drive to the Potala Palace. Recommend! recommend!

The hotel's location is excellent, and the front desk staff were very efficient with check-in. It's very close to Potala Palace, making it super convenient for getting around. All the staff were warm and welcoming, the room was clean and tidy, and the night view was fantastic. Guys, you can book this place with your eyes closed – I'd definitely come back if I have the chance!

I stayed at this hotel for two nights when I first arrived in Lhasa and really liked it. After a few days of touring outside the city, I returned to Lhasa and chose to stay here again. The hotel's breakfast offers great value for money – it's not expensive but has a good variety of options. Other positives have already been mentioned in previous reviews, so I won't repeat them.

The dorm rooms are incredibly clean, tidy, and well-organized, with sturdy bunks and enough space so you never feel cramped. The social energy in the main lobbyist is unmatched—it is so easy to grab a drink, strike up a conversation, and find travel buddies to split tour costs or explore the city with. They even had local singing and ******* dance performances right in the common area, so which was amazing to experience. To top it off, the hostel has a sweet resident cat who loves to hang out. This was my third stay at Thangka, and it has noticeably declined compared to my stays in 2018 and 2023. The main reason I chose it again was its proximity to Jokhang Temple. However, this time I experienced significant and continuous noise at night. The next morning, during breakfast, I realized the noise was coming from a machine in the 4th-floor restaurant or the self-service laundry area. I promptly checked out the next day and informed the front desk. The front desk attendant was very kind and assured me that she would report it immediately. I hope Thangka improves.

The hotel isn't to far from the Portola Palace (a short taxi trip). I wouldn't say its a true 4 star hotel. The room was a good size, quiet and didn't smell of cigarette smoke. The room was a little worn out; I couldn't get the TV to work, the mirror on the wet bar area was cracked, there were marks to the walls where paintings/pictures had once been. Most annoying was the shower cubicle and the shower over the bath had only cold water! On my last morning the power was off in my area of the hotel and the lift was not working due to the power outage. The hotel staff do not speak English, but one lady working on reception was especially nice and helpful and we were able to communicate by using the translation app. There are lots of restaurants near by, but next time I think I'd prefer to stay closer to the Portola Palace.
