The location is decent and the place is clean. They even made up the sofa bed for us in advance. The only downside is that early check-in isn't an option, though you can store your luggage. Breakfast is a standard English breakfast. There's a closer train station, Oldfield Park, so remember to select that when buying tickets.

The hotel has an elevator, the decoration is beautiful, very close to the station, but the room does not have air conditioning, only a small electric fan. I arrived in Bath (6/11) very hot, the room is just west, the old-fashioned windows can only open 1/4, so I slept very uncomfortable, and it was cooler until 3 am.

Comfortable Stay and Great Location
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Taunton and had a very comfortable experience. The hotel is easy to access, just off the M5, which made it a convenient base for exploring Somerset or stopping over during a longer journey.
The room was clean and quiet, with everything I needed — a comfy bed, a good shower, and a desk area. Wi-Fi worked well, and I appreciated the tea/coffee station. While the decor is slightly dated in some areas, everything was well-maintained.
Staff were friendly, helpful, and professional from check-in to check-out. The breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold options, and the restaurant had a nice relaxed atmosphere in the evening too.

We booked 2 nights for a relaxing spa weekend. Based on it being a spa hotel. We planned on staying in the hotel for the whole weekend.
When we arrived we were told there was no restaurant or bar we can use as it’s only used for events.
We then had some lunch in the spa cafe. Food was ok. Service was terrible.
We then went to the room as we were able to check in. The cleaner was still there. Very apologetic extremely polite and lovely. The room was absolutely wonderful. Large bedroom bathroom and living room.
We went out and found a pub for food. When we returned to relax in the room we found the party was directly below us and in full swing. Very loud and noisy and the smoking area was right outside our window. We called reception but they were fully booked. Glad to say it all stopped at midnight.
We went down to breakfast at 9.30. Not much left and the full breakfast was cold. When we questioned it we were just told”well it has been there since 7” it had just sat on the side in silver trays for 2.5 hours, no heat or option to reheat. It wasn’t edible.
We skipped breakfast that we paid for on the second day.
We then thought we would spend some time in the spa. Ha! Well the pool is small, no where to relax just a couple of plastic chairs, not a spa at all. It had a very small sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi didn’t work it was just a pool of cloudy water with a few bubbles.
Would not recommend. Seems it used to be and could be a wonderful place to be but has been taken over and lost its sole. Such a shame as the building and grounds are wonderful.
I have to add the cleaning staff and lady on reception were wonderful, welcoming and friendly.

Came with no expectations. We don't arrive anywhere in UK with high expectations anymore. The Royal didn't disappoint! Arrived on a Sunday for a night stay after the Saturday night England semi-final. Room was fine, bathroom was fine. Location is excellent. Went down to the bar for a pint and to sit in the beer ”garden” Photo shows what we met. Boiling hot, no tables put out and only one parasol set up. Like walking into a furnace. Decided to go down the road. Had a great meal in the Little thatch, busy and full by the time we left(under cover, under parasols) and gave them our £70. Went for a walk and sat in one of the numerous bars by the Marine Lake for an evening drink. Again, busy and full and shaded. A fab evening. Walked past the Wetherspoons, again very busy and back to the Royal. Empty in the bar!! Nobody outside. Hope they had a good night Saturday, shame we couldn't have a nice meal there Sunday. Very disappointed that the hotel didn't clear up and reset tables for Sunday, they must have lost a fortune. As we left Monday, noise due to hosing down and putting tables back into place, a bit late for us. Both receptionist were helpful but used the excuse that there was football Saturday, didn't fully seem to understand why we were unhappy. If it wasn't for the fact that they ask you to pay up front, we probably would have left. Also not happy that we had to leave our card details in case we ”trashed” the room!!! Really? A 66 and 70 year old couple? We trusted the Royal, they clearly didn't trust us.

Stayed at Wentworth House for one night. The location was handy — only about a 6 or 7-minute taxi ride into the centre of Bath. Parking on site was free, which is always a bonus, though spaces were limited. The shower worked fine with good hot water, and at £120 a night for three people, the price wasn’t unreasonable for Bath.
On the downside, the place is very dated and could do with some serious modernisation. Our room had a noticeable damp smell and the single-glazed windows didn’t help keep the room warm or quiet. I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat there, but overall, it’s an okay option if you just need somewhere for a night and aren’t too fussy — though a refresh would really lift the place.

I was also shocked at breakfast time I was left standing on two separate occasions for 10mins to be seated no one came no one served me and no one gave a dame

This is a charming historic mansion with great character; while the facilities are a bit dated, the exterior and outdoor scenery are super nice.
Free parking makes it perfect for those driving, it is only a short drive from the Bath city center.
The traditional-style hotel bar was quiet and moody, it stays open until 11pm, allowing us to enjoy a drink even after arriving late from dinner.
The room size was decent and the heating worked well; the bathroom featured a bathtub though it took some time for the hot water to start flowing properly. Unfortunately, a false fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, which disrupted our sleep, but since we were only staying for one night and checking out early, I didn't raise the issue.
It was a classic ”old hotel” experience as expected, and the exceptionally warm and friendly attitude of the front desk staff made up for the hiccups, though my expectations might be higher if I were staying for a longer period.

taotaogoatThe hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of Bath city center and very close to the famous Roman Baths. There was some renovation work happening on the exterior during our stay, but it didn't affect us at all. The hotel design is excellent, with modern facilities, and the staff were incredibly polite, even proactively offering recommendations for popular attractions and itineraries, which was a huge plus! The only downside was that the room was a bit small, and a slightly larger suitcase made it feel a bit inconvenient.

Couldn’t fault the actual room, even though it wasn’t the room advertised or shown in pic, that was a little annoying.
The shower wasn’t very good and the room was very stuffy at night as you couldn’t open windows due to noise outside.
The location was amazing and the staff very friendly and helpful.
The noise both outside and in the actual hotel were quite annoying with slamming of doors and what sounded like moving furniture above us.
We knew there was an issue with noise as we read reviews but we thought we are pretty easy going and can usually sleep through anything, we even brought ear plugs, but recon you’d need industrial ones to block out all the noise there.
Sadly I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend to others,
