🛍️ The hotel is conveniently located just behind SAKURA MACHI Kumamoto and is a mere 10-minute walk from the main shopping street. It is also surrounded by tram stations, making travel easy and accessible.
🚙 Although the hotel does not have its own parking lot, it offers discounts at nearby parking facilities. I found it more convenient, however, to park at the lot directly in front of the hotel for 1,400 Yen per night, which is almost the same price as the hotel's discounted options.
🛌 The room size is typical for a Japanese hotel with two twin beds, but the bathroom is slightly larger than average. The only downside is that one of the beds is positioned too close to the window, meaning you'll sleep near the curtain, which is a bit dusty.
Strategic location right at the Shinshigai Shopping Street where you can literally get anything you need from food to shopping. It is also near the Kumamoto Castle within 10-20mins walking distance.
This hotel chain has lived up to its expectations, clean, fully equipped with amenities and spacious room. We've been staying at this hotel chain in Osaka, Hiroshima and now Kumamoto.
Highly recommended hotel for those who are visiting Kumamoto!
The hotel was very clean. Our triple room, equipped with three beds, provided a very comfortable sleep. In the early hours of the morning, we experienced a minor earthquake; it felt like being gently rocked in a cradle.
To get here from JR Kumamoto Station, simply cross the road and take the tram (Shogunmachi A-line) to Karashimacho (stop 8). The ride takes approximately 10-15 minutes. From the tram stop, it's an 8-10 minute walk using Google or Apple Maps.
The hotel's location is very quiet. While there isn't a convenience store directly next door, you'll find a 7-Eleven at the beginning of a main street after you get off the tram – a good spot to grab any necessities before heading to the hotel. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurants conveniently located near the station.
As is common for Japanese hotel rooms, they are typically on the smaller side. However, the location was excellent, with a tram station conveniently located just a short walk away. Shampoo and conditioner are available for guests to pick up in the lobby. I didn't get a chance to try the breakfast this time, but I'll definitely give it a go on my next visit.
The room facilities are complete, and the location is excellent. It's conveniently located in the new city area, with plenty of places to eat and shopping. The room is well soundproofed, and the service is excellent; they are patient and helpful. The only drawback is that the front desk staff only speaks Japanese and English.
The room was very clean.
Staff were really helpful - I asked the front desk for food recommendations and they offered some good choices at late night time.
Rooms were clean with toiletries well provided.
Would be even better if some small utensils/plates could be provided in the room for some chill snack time.
But all in all, 10/10!
The location of the hotel is super close to the Castle but requires some walking if you are heading to the main shopping streets. The view was great and I enjoyed breakfast with the view. Receptionists were helpful and friendly. Parking was available with 1000yen. However, the room is highly non-soundproof, as I can hear a guy snoring next door the whole night as well as hear them opening the door and talking, which had caused me a really bad night sleep.
The hotel just opened in August this year, the well-known chain hotel, every time I come to Japan, I find a way to live once. I feel good to take off my shoes and enter the hotel. The open-air bathing pool is a bit small. The room is too new and can also detect a little decoration. The taste, overall is still very satisfactory!
The staff is friendly and provide good service.
The bath house is normal, but can tell its age.
I feel the room is very dusty, it’s making my hand itchy and nose sneezy all the time. The bathroom is also old with water marks and mould.
I am a fan of Dormy Inn and have stayed in Dormy Inn branches at Aomori, Hachinohe, Tokyo, and Osaka before, but this Kumamoto branch has the most room for improvement.
The hotel is in walkable distance to the castle, so it is great.
The location is very convenient, and it is close to the parking lot (payable by yourself)... It is very convenient for shopping... But the bed in the double room is really small... It feels more suitable for one person to sleep...

GGuest UserIt was comfortable! ❢
The greetings were pleasant, the room was spacious and clean, and the location was great.
The changing room in the large bath was clean, the air conditioning worked well, and it was very comfortable.
The welcome sweets and drinks were also a nice touch. They maintained a reasonable distance, making it a truly relaxing and relaxing inn. 💖

LLei,taoOverall, a fantastic stay! I really appreciated the complimentary drinks and the spacious bathtub in the room. The service was excellent, and I'll definitely be returning for another visit. My only minor critique is that the location isn't the most convenient, but despite that, I found the overall experience to be very satisfactory.
TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.
AAnonymous UserThis hotel offers great value for money, and I've stayed at Toyoko Inn locations before. Its prime location, right to the right after exiting Kumamoto Station, makes it incredibly convenient for transportation. The complimentary breakfast offers a wide variety of options and the thoughtful touch of allowing guests to take food back to their rooms is much appreciated.
11391780****The room was very clean and not small at all. The only downsides were that the sink tended to splash water easily, and it was quite rare for a bathroom in Japan not to have a bathtub (though I personally found it convenient and clean). If you really want to catch the volcano opening, staying here for two nights is a good idea. The tranquility after the day-trippers leave in the early morning and evening is wonderful. However, dining options nearby are a bit limited. There's a medium-sized local supermarket near Aso Station that closes at 6 PM; it's great for grabbing discounted onigiri and bento boxes. If you walk about 3 minutes towards the main road, there's a Western-style cafe that offers three-course sets. A Lawson convenience store is 5 minutes away, and about 10 minutes away, there's a local ramen shop called 'Hi no Kuni' (Fire Country) that's highly recommended. Their black garlic ramen, a full-meal type, costs 75 yen and tastes good, though the shop is a bit old and could be cleaner.
GGuest UserWe had a great stay at Kamenoi Hotel Aso Park. We booked a room in the South Building, which was spacious, clean, and had a large, comfortable bed. The hotel provides yukata robes in various colors, which was a lovely touch for guests to enjoy the onsen experience.
♨️ The onsen was large and relaxing — perfect after a day of exploring Aso.
🚗 Parking was very convenient, located right next to the hotel. Just across the parking area, there’s a 24-hour convenience store called Obentou Hirai offering ready-made bentos, hot meals, ramen, and udon — extremely convenient for late-night snacks or quick meals.
🍱 We chose a room-only package without meals, and in the morning, we visited the local souvenir and food center at Aso Station. It had a great selection of local foods and breakfast options, plus plenty of gifts and souvenirs to bring home.
Overall, a comfortable stay with everything we needed nearby. Highly recommended if you’re exploring the Aso area!
GGuest UserBetter to rent a car to get there, so convenience is not somebody who books this place should look for.
For relaxing purpose, this is a nice area with lots of green, the down side is it is next to a golf course, so there were sounds of tree-cutting and a bunch of golfers practicing their putts on the practice putting green next to the site for trailers. I am not a big fan of that.
Service is closed to non-existent, there were staffs who helped checking us in, they were friendly and did their job explaining all the essential functions of the trailer. They had to use the translator machine to communicate, they were very patient. I can't rate the service too high because after checking in we were pretty much on our own. So not something you should look for if service is a top priority.
Best part is there is an onsen next to the site that offers family bath, that's memorable.
SSethapongThe hotel was aged I mean enough to makes me feel nostalgic.
Parking is convenient and enough.
I book the Japanese-Style Standard Room · 1 Room - It said just this
(Some room might said no bath so I did not pick but I got no bath nor shower in room anyway - only their big public bath makes it a little adventurous for us for ones who travel with kids and didnot plan to do public bath which makes me totally blank about it and not doing my research. I got big big complain by other guest for not seeing sandal racks in front of the bathing room which of course my fault not seeing that but only if I know and prepared some research this might be a little better)
Bringing two young boys to public bath is not that easy really my 3 years old boy almost fall down the bath.
The staff at the breakfast room tho were more than great although english was not common for all the staffs.
