2-Star Hotels in Southern Region, Iceland

We have a 1 night stay at Midgard Camp during our 9 days road trip in Iceland. It is our 2nd stop hotel of our trip. Though the room are not big, but it is comfortable, good and cosy enough for all. The family rooms comes with 1 double bed plus 1 bunk bed enough for all 4 of us. The whole place is very vibrant, friendly staff, nicely decorated and energetic yet peaceful and quiet for individual enjoyment. The whole place is very well maintained and It is very clean even the common toilet as I bathe there to avoid waiting for our private toilet to save some time. The common kitchen is for all guests and is well equipped. We cooked our hot meal as well as breakfast there. We can also enjoy the complementary coffee/tea from the hotel paid breakfast. Overall, We enjoy our stay there even though it is just 1 night. The location is easily found with the GPS, you wouldn't miss it. Highly recommended this place. Also, really appreciate the friendly staff giving us a round tour of the place explaining where are the common toilet, hot bathe tub, dryer for our swim wear should we use the hot bathe tub and sauna. This is indeed exceed our expectation actually. 10/10!

The four of us girls stayed in this guesthouse together. The room was very clean, and having a kitchen allowed us to cook our own food. Although breakfast wasn't included, they provided complimentary coffee, milk, and yogurt, which was a thoughtful touch. The staff were also very friendly. Overall, it was a great stay and very budget-friendly. I highly recommend it to travelers.

Self-check in is very convenient, the instructions are very clear, the location is very good, the room is very comfortable, the kitchen is a bit messy, but this is also what the tenants do, they use it is not clean, but the kitchen utensils are very complete, everything has

The room was small but adequate. The bathroom too small, with a tiny sink. There was no bath soap or shampoo. The shower curtain was mildewed at the bottom. There was a teapot shared by the four units in our building, but no coffee, just sugar. The restaurant was great for dinner, but the included breakfast was poor. We were given a tray with preselected items. The croissant and coffee were excellent. I passed on the oatmeal and oat bread, which left a light continental breakfast. Poor value compared to the other guesthouses we encountered in Iceland.

Check in by yourself, the main door is not locked (but it is very heavy, you need to pull it hard), the room has a password lock; parking is convenient, you can park on the roadside (free) or in the hotel's own parking lot; the kitchen is fully equipped, but unfortunately there are not many tables and chairs; there is a small lounge, but not much public space overall; it is quite clean; the biggest drawback may be that the room is not big.

Great place to stay, if you plan to explore the southern coast of Iceland. The staff is very friendly, it’s clean and warm, and I always liked coming home After a day of exploring this amazing country. The only downside is the equipment of the shared „kitchen“: microwave, fridge, refrigerator, water boiler, but no stove or oven. Apart from that, it’s a great stay 🫶🏻 I’ll book again the next time I’m in the area!

Check in and accommodation is not the same location and is about few KM away and the Waze is not really accurate to arrive at reception we stop and asked a villager. At the same time reception also a restaurant. The parking space is very dare at night, actually the whole building also looks dark because we arrived in dark due to locate for the check in place. Other than that everything is good in the room and also in the share kitchen

Loved this hostel. Kitchen was very clean. There was a separate area for toaster, sandwich maker and a fancy coffee machine. There was complimentary hot chocolate and cookies. The fridge was huge. It was a Liebherr. The outdoor area even had a BBQ machine. The bathrooms contained both showers and WC so it can be a wait in the mornings. There is a towel warmer in bathroom. The bunk beds can do with more privacy.

The service did not give full marks because of self-check-in, no on-site service, phone and email contact is still very smooth. . Unexpectedly, the hotel is opposite the XHS net red lobster shop. It is very clean. It is very quiet. Although it is full, the guests have a very small voice. The shared bathroom is not expected to be so clean. It seems that the quality of the guests is very high. We also cleaned up the kitchen used for breakfast. It feels good.

Overall, it was a good location because you could walk to the falls as well as do a day trip to Vik. I think you could skip the museum that's nearby, but overall this is a great location to start your trip if you're coming straight from Reykjavik.
