We were shocked and surprised when we arrived Ellys Home on 9 April. There is a Malay staff waiting for us at the entrance and he informed us our stay is changed to Paly Hotel (just next to Ellys Home). The staff passed us a call from the owner of Ellys Home. She said it is Trip.com error that the website still allow and confirm the booking even the Ellys Home is already fully booked. Therefore, she arranged for us the replacement at Paly Hotel. Generally, Paly Hotel is good. However, it is better to update the travelers in advance for any changes (instead of informing only on that day on the spot). We have no choice to accept the change and this caused inconvenience to update our travel agency in last minute. For this reason, I will not recommend others to make bookings via Trip.com.

For the budget traveler this hotel is more than enough. They provide sea view from balcony and the capsule is not big and not small. Plus point they have lift so if you bring a luggage you'll be fine. They also provide women only room and locker for your luggage. The staff are so funny and helpful too you'll feel less lonely haha. I meet and talk to other soloist, very nice experience. The thing that you may notice they don't provide breakfast and you can't cook here. So be prepared to bring your own meals. Oh there is a washing machine inside but you need to pay for 8 pieces

Had a comfortable stay! The room was clean, staff were friendly, and location was convenient. Check-in/check-out was smooth, and amenities met expectations. Great value for the price. Only minor issue was slow Wi-Fi. Would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit. Thanks for the hospitality!

The hotel room was clean. Amenities provided are shampoo and body soap. The location from the town area is quite central. It's easy to park a car, not a busy road. It's located at the back of Plaza Shell. A water dispenser is the only thing missing from the hotel, so next time when you want to stay, make sure to buy one drinking water for yourself. Anyway there are convenience stores nearby the hotel.

Switz Paradise Hotel is a budget-friendly stay located conveniently in the heart of Kota Kinabalu, making it ideal for travelers who want quick access to malls, eateries, and local attractions like the waterfront and Gaya Street Market. The rooms are basic but functional, with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms—suitable for short stays. While the location is a plus, some guests note issues like city noise at night, limited soundproofing, and modest cleanliness. Overall, it’s a good option for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize location over luxury.

The facilities are old, but it's OK for a short stay. There are a lot of birds outside, so be careful of bird droppings. You can't eat in the room, but you have to eat in the lounge, which requires a deposit of MRY100.

The only reason I stayed here was because of it location near to the airport. Everything else is good in terms of experience except I was imposed with liability costing RM10 for soiling one piece of their towel. The soiling happened because I walked outside after the rain and my foot got into a mud spot. I came back to my room and I accidentally stepped on the towel. Bear in mind, I had to book their largest room meant for 4 pax because that was the only one available even though I stayed alone. Considering the occupancy is low for that large room, soiling one piece of towel does not justify a RM10 liability damage.

BBarathi*Honest Review: Comfortable Stay but Disappointing Service Transparency* Me and a group of colleagues chose Wendu Inn during our recent work trip to Kota Belud, and I’d like to share an honest review—not just a general star rating—because the experience was a mix of excellent and disappointing aspects. Pros: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 • The check-in process was smooth and efficient. • Cleanliness and room comfort are top-notch—definitely 5-star worthy, especially for a small town like Kota Belud. • The view from the café and the convenience of having a minimart downstairs were truly added bonuses. • We genuinely appreciated the effort put into making the place cozy and welcoming. But here comes the downside: We booked our rooms with breakfast included, which is supposed to be served at their café. However, this was where things went wrong. 1️⃣ When we went for breakfast, there was no proper display or explanation about the free breakfast options. What was openly displayed was a menu with both breakfast (no prices shown) and lunch items (with prices). The actual complimentary breakfast choices were hidden away in a folder behind the counter—not visible to guests. Naturally, thinking the displayed breakfast options were part of our package, we made our choices and presented our coupons at the counter. The staff accepted the coupons without saying a word. Only after finishing our meals were we surprised with a bill, leaving us feeling misled and frustrated. 2️⃣ The counter staff’s customer service was below expectations. When we requested an official receipt for work claims, we were repeatedly told to refer to the booking website. Even after explaining that we needed an original stamped receipt, the answer was simply: “We don’t have an original stamp.” For a hotel catering to business travelers, this lack of basic documentation support is quite inconvenient. Final thoughts: Would I recommend Wendu Inn? Yes—for comfort, cleanliness, and its peaceful surroundings. But be prepared to double-check details around your package (especially meals), and don’t expect much assistance from the front desk when it comes to paperwork or clarifications.

GGandingAmenities in the room, such as hair dryer, iron, ironing board, kettle, cups, 3 in 1 coffee, tea, drinking water, towels, conditioning shampoo, shower gel and prayer mat for Muslims are available. There is no dental care kit, so bring your own. Otherwise, you'll have to drive a bit to buy one. It was my third time in Kundasang, so we rented a car and drove to the location. The road to the location is quite challenging if you're not used to the rural road. There are plenty of parking spaces there. I also saw guests with private tour guides who drove them around. I think that's a good idea, too. I booked the room with the mountain view, but the weather was not on my side. The mountain was in view very early in the morning when it was still dark, and then it was covered in clouds for the rest of the day. There is no aircon but a cute ceiling fan we didn't use because it was already cold. However, I wish I could open the windows without letting the bugs in. There were huge spiders making their webs near my window, and I dare not open it. The beds are okay - not the comfiest and only one rather flat pillow for our heads. We slept well nonetheless. We spent most of our time outside the room unless it's to shower or sleep. There's a cafe where we took our dinner to the outside dining area. The tables and chairs were scattered around so we had to arrange them ourselves. There is hot water, but at around 7am, the shower runs cold even with the water heater turned on. Could it be that everyone is showering at the same time? A simple breakfast is served at the cafe for the guests. When I was there, they had fried mi hun, French toast, sausages, baked beans, and eggs. There were two types of cereal. A bread station where you can toast your bread. Only white bread was available. Drinks were orange cordial, coffee, and tea. They replenish the food if finished, so don't worry about getting to the breakfast a bit late. The best thing about the whole trip was the booking, checking in, and checking out was hassle-free. Also, if you love flowers, walk around the place and admire their hydrangeas.

GGuest UserIt’s similar to hotels/guesthouses in China, and much simpler than domestic budget hotel chains such as Home Inns or GreenTree Inn. Hotels in Sabah generally feel two stars lower than those in China. The one I stayed in in Kota Kinabalu is owned by Marriott The Le Méridien hotel is also comparable to domestic All Seasons hotels, so don’t expect too much. The sanitation is quite clean, and there are often people chanting sutras with loud speakers in the morning and evening... overall it's not bad. It is two kilometers away from the pier and takes a taxi for 6-8RM. You can go to the seafood market to bargain for dragon knives, which is quite fun!

AAnonymous UserThis is the sort of place where the staff will always greet you with ”hello, sir/ma'am” whenever they see you. Nice swimming pool and very good food at the restaurant, even though slightly pricy at first (I guess it's fine being a resort), the portions are actually huge and very fresh. Try their lemon chicken on rice for 20 ringgit (February 2024). All you can eat breakfast included for free even with the dorm bed: fried noodles, a very thick pancake, fruit, British breakfast, beef sausages, coffee, juice, etc. Walk-in price is 80RM, cheaper here on Trip. The dorm looks exactly the same as the one I staid in Kinabatangan, which is always funny (same contractor?). Comfortable night, with a new AC and fan, specially so considering I had it all to myself since the other few guests they had had private accommodation. Dorm showers have plenty of hot water and are clean, but there's no soap or amenities beyond the towel they give you at check-in. Bring your own. The staff at the restaurant sometimes disappears for no reason in the middle of service, even if there's about 20 of them considering réception is right there. They helped me book a taxi to the airport (50 ringgit), since there's no grab available (spent 1h looking for one). Don't bother trying to get one, ask them to call a taxi for you, really. This resort is about 1km away from the three main things to do at sepilok. You will be walking on the side of the road to get anywhere since transportation options are scarce and expensive. Overall this is standard of service here in Borneo, so don't settle for less than this.

PPoole92It was located well next to the Orangutan sanctuary. Had a nice pool, with a scenic walk to get there. The breakfast was really nice, and changed slightly each day. Rooms were cleaned daily. Our room didn't have AC, and the WiFi didn't. No free water is provided, and it's overpriced to buy. There is a very small shop that sells it cheaper close to the resort.

BBAL.RSure! Here's a **single, concise review** of a vacation at **Kundasang Mount Garden**: --- **”A peaceful mountain escape with stunning views”** I stayed at Kundasang Mount Garden for a short getaway, and it was a refreshing break from city life. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking—Mount Kinabalu right in view, misty mornings, and cool, crisp air all day. The room was clean, spacious, and had everything I needed, including a small kitchen and private balcony. The garden outside is lovely, with flowers, vegetables, and even a little stream. It’s very quiet and perfect for relaxing. However, getting there was a bit tricky—the road is narrow and steep, so I’d recommend using a 4WD. Also, the hot water was a bit unreliable

GGuest UserWe stayed couple of nights before driving back to KK. The place is located in the center with easy access to everything however it also means it can be quite loud at night from the traffic and karaoke next door. The room had little fridge, kettle, bottles of water and coffee mix (3 in 1). Room was on the 3rd floor with no lift. This could be a problem for somebody with mobility issue.

SShahfiq09My recent stay at Hotel Aristo was nothing short of delightful. Nestled in a prime location, this distinguished establishment offers a harmonious blend of elegance, comfort, and refined service. From the moment I stepped into the tastefully designed lobby, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an atmosphere of quiet sophistication. The room exuded understated luxury — impeccably clean, well-furnished, and designed with comfort in mind. The bedding was plush, the lighting ambient, and the bathroom featured premium toiletries alongside a refreshing rain shower. High-speed internet was readily available, making it an excellent choice for both leisure and business travelers. Hotel Aristo’s location is strategically convenient, allowing easy access to key attractions, shopping districts, and fine dining options. The staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism and attention to detail, always ready to assist with a courteous smile. For those in search of a hotel that combines affordable luxury with attentive service, Hotel Aristo is a commendable choice. I would gladly return and recommend it to discerning travelers seeking both comfort and class.
