With Easter holidays just around the corner we hope you’ve got your travel plans sorted. But if not, fear not, read on to find where’s hot this holiday season.

Major cities like Sydney and Melbourne are out – and in their place are plenty of exciting regional destinations and smaller capitals. Domestic travel is now practically unrestricted, so now’s the perfect time to book your next trip.

Darwin and the Top End

With more than double the number of bookings than normal, the Northern Territory takes the crown as the hottest place to go this Easter. With both Darwin and Alice Springs seeing triple digit growth this year, the whole Territory is benefitting. It is a part of country that so many people keep meaning to get out to, but never actually do. With big name attractions like Kakadu, Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Litchfield National Park, the list of places to check out is endless. Make 2022 the year you finally visit the Top End.

Adelaide & Kangaroo Island

While the other mainland capitals are not seeing a huge increase in visitation, Adelaide has seen a strong increase in bookings. With a number of new high-end properties opening up over the last few years such as the Sofitel Adelaide, EoS by Skycity and the Crowne Plaza, accommodation choices are the best they have ever been. Besides the capital, travelers are heading across to the beautiful Kangaroo Island more so than ever before – with the option to walk among Sea Lions at Seal Bay, or just to marvel at Remarkable Rocks, this is hardly surprising. It’s a short flight from Adelaide, or take the ferry from Cape Jervis to avoid having to hire a car on the island.

Queensland

With the weather starting to cool down in the southern states, it’s no surprise that people are starting to look further north. The Whitsundays and Airlie Beach are proving extremely popular this year, however the trend can be seen up the whole Queensland coast with Cairns, Port Douglas and Townsville also seeing an increase in travelers over Easter. It’s easy to forget that Queensland offers plenty of picturesque beaches and tropical getaways right here in our backyard, so if you’re not yet feeling confident enough to venture back to South East Asia then Queensland might just be the answer.

Regional Tasmania

Bucking the trend of heading north to catch the sun, regional Tasmania is proving a winner these upcoming holidays. While Hobart remains popular, it’s smaller destinations like Launceston and Cradle Mountain that are seeing strong growth. You’ll need to hire a car to get to most of these locations, but a self-drive loop around the Apple Isle is an experience you’ll never forget. If time allows, fly into Hobart and spend two weeks circumnavigating the island at your own pace.

With domestic travel back in in full swing, ditch the PCR tests and vaccination certificates and holiday at home instead. For those with busy work schedules, Easter represents one of the best opportunities in the year to get away. Don’t let it pass you by!

We’ll see you on the road :)
