This hotel is incredibly convenient, with a convenience store on-site and plenty of local eateries and supermarkets nearby. The room was spacious and very clean, with an open view outside. Since it's a serviced apartment, it came equipped with a fridge, microwave, and cutlery, which was perfect for making a simple late-night snack with groceries bought from the supermarket. However, there were a couple of downsides: the water pressure was quite weak, and there was a strange drain smell coming from the bathroom, which definitely needs improvement. The gym and infinity pool are located on the 36th floor. The pool was super clean and the views were absolutely stunning! š
Facilities: The hotel's facilities exude a sense of luxury and elegance everywhere. However, they're also a bit impractical. For example, the sink is too wide; an Asian woman might have to stand on her tiptoes to wash her face, and her stomach would be pressed against the cold basin.
Cleanliness: It was generally clean, but there was mold around the shower gel and shampoo dispenser.
Ambiance: No issues at all, a century-old hotel with a central sea view.
Service: Everyone was quite enthusiastic, but I still wonder if tipping is expected/necessary?
I booked a sea view room, and when I woke up in the morning, a picturesque view was right before my eyes. The front desk staff was very friendly during check-in, and parking was convenient. I'd definitely book this hotel again next time.
The location is fantastic, right by two large shopping malls, making dining and shopping incredibly convenientājust a three to four-minute walk away. While you'll need a taxi to get to the old town attractions, it means the area is much quieter.
There's a Hua Yang restaurant right under the nearby Gurney Plaza, and the wait times are much shorter than in Kuala Lumpur, so I finally got to eat there!
The facilities are a bit lacking and can't compare to five-star hotels in China.
However, the service is excellent, and they even offer a shuttle bus.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing; they start clearing up right on time, and the variety isn't huge.
Overall, the service was very good and proactive.
We arrived at about 11am and managed to check in immediately which was a pleasant surprise! The room was really spacious and we loved that there is a filtered water tap within the room so we could refill our bottles easily and save money on buying bottled water.
The only bummer was that on our second day, there was a power shutdown from 10am to 2:30pm (which they informed us beforehand), but at the same time, the lifts were having maintenance (not informed on this) and we were stuck at our level (20 floors up) for about 20 to 30 mins. We were not able to take the stairs down as well which was abit frustrating as we were running late. So they could have better planned or better coordinated the schedules for the maintenance work.
But other than that, the rooms were really clean and the pool and gym were nice as well. The breakfast didnāt have many selection but it was decent. We loved that the hotel was just opposite the esplanade park too! Will stay here again!
My stay here was excellent! The hotel's location is superb, with convenient transportation, being very close to the subway station and shopping center. The check-in process was quick, and the front desk staff were enthusiastic, professional, and friendly. The room was clean and hygienic, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, ensuring a high-quality sleep. The room facilities were complete, the internet speed was fast, and the shower water temperature was just right with strong pressure. There are plenty of dining and entertainment options nearby, and it offers great value for money. I'll definitely choose this place again next time. Highly recommend everyone to stay here!
Everything was fine except the parking charges, which were completely mishandled.
I was clearly told it would be RM9 per day with multiple entries and exits allowed. Yet on the second day, I was charged RM18 on my first exit. Naturally, I assumed it might include an advance charge for the third day.. but then on the third day, I was charged another RM9 anyway. That makes absolutely no sense.
I raised this at reception during check-out, and I was told to text a provided number. Iāve sent multiple messages and no response whatsoever. Completely ignored.
Yes, itās ājustā RM9 extra. But thatās not the point. If this is how casually you handle even small discrepancies, what does that say about your overall standards? And how many other guests are being overcharged without even realizing it?
Frankly, this is unacceptable and extremely disappointing.
This hotel was the most comfortable five-star hotel we stayed at during our Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang trip. The room was very spacious, with a double vanity in the bathroom, and both the bedroom and bathroom offered sea views. The hotel facilities are very new, and they even offer turn-down service. They also provided plenty of complimentary water.
The check-in service was excellent. My only minor disappointment was that with so many Chinese people in Penang, there wasn't anyone at the front desk who spoke Mandarin.
Overall, I was very satisfied. The only downside was that the elevators and hallways didn't have air conditioning, which was a bit uncomfortable.
I would definitely stay here again, and I highly recommend it to everyone.
This was ourčæęø” hotel for the first night in Penang, and they offer 24-hour check-in. We arrived past midnight, but the Malay guy at the front desk was still very attentive. The room wasn't big but felt new with a modern design. Our room type faced the back street, so it was quiet, but it looked directly onto the building opposite, offering no view at all. If a view is important to you, I recommend booking a different room type. The hotel is very close to Toh Soon Cafe and the Peranakan Museum, both within a five-minute walk. The surrounding area is pretty quiet with not many shops.
Facilities: Excellent. The gym is good, and so is the pool.
Cleanliness: Very clean. Turndown service was provided daily with aromatherapy.
Environment: This is the only area in Penang with a beach.
Service: Warm and welcoming. Replenishments were very prompt.

GGuest UserTHE MOST AMAZING HOTE I HAVE EVER STAYED IN 10/10
1. Hotel Locaiton: Perfect as its not in the city and by the beach, amazing for relaxation. Hotel is surrounded by souvenir shops and street food. 10miute walk from Ferringhi Walk where there is a nice selection of street food but my favourite of all is that its just a 2 minute walk from my favorite restaurant in Malaysia, Ferringhi Garden. Penang trip isnt complete without going to Ferringhi Garden. Its an amazing restaurant with the most beautiful collection of plants, there is no other place like it in Malaysia.
2. The Hotel: Nothing bad to say about it. The design, the decor, everything about this hotel makes me want to stay there even longer. Its such a nice feeling being there. Facilities are clean and complete.
3. The Room: CLEAN. NICE. SPACIOUS. BEAUTIFUL. Every inch of the room is to my liking, i could not have asked for more. Mattress is thick and oh so comfortable. Aircond was cold. Room was very spacious.
4.The Buffet: The room came with breakfast for 2 and it was the perfect buffet to start each day with. Selection was incredible even better than a lot of buffet Ramadan Ive been to. They had everything from selections of breads, to nasi lemak with 12 different sambals, 5 different meat dishes to eat it with, assorted fruits, assorted cheeses, 2 types of porridge with the FULL suites of condiments, salads, pastries, roti canai with all the curries you will ever need, to your above average selection of continental breakfast menus like, beef bacon, beef and chicken sausages, hash browns, deli meats, smoked fish. And there is more! there is a made-to-order menu which many patrons are not aware of. I tried the minute steak and it was good!(pictured below)
PS: Hakimi from breakfast service was spectacular, I requested strawberries for my picky 2 year old and he delivered. On the other hand, ANIS FROM THE OMELETTE STATION WAS RUDE TO MY WIFE, SHE NEEDS TO IMPROVE HER SOCIAL SKILLS(this is my one and only complain)
Overall my stay was 10/10 and this will be the ONLY hotel i will be staying at if when im at Batu Ferringhi. I plan to go to Park Royal Batu Ferringhi Annually, its just that good!
MMaira176First of all, thanks to the receptionist, concierge, and housekeepers for attending to me during check-in also related staff for being polite. However, I would like to highlight an issue regarding whether it was Trip.com or Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts management that listed rooms not actually available to customers, despite costing thousands and above for one night. Because of this, I had to go back and forth changing rooms.
Additionally, the room itself was different from what was shown; it only had a jacuzzi and a fairly good seaview. Luckily, I only booked one night to see how it was, since the ratings were high. If not for the staff treating me well, I might have given a lower rating than this.
Please ensure that the rooms you advertise are accurate, especially since there is no refund and full payment is required. For improvement, please also address the issue of flies and insects while dining at the restaurants and bar. A five-star resort should be better than any stall.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is excellent. There's a mall right downstairs, making shopping and dining super convenient. It's also close to other tourist attractions, and getting a taxi is quick and easy! We even ran into Chinese celebrity Huang Xiaoming and others promoting a movie at Gurney Plaza during our stay.
GGuest UserThis five-star hotel, priced at a little over 400 [currency unit, e.g., MYR], offers incredible value for money, not just in Malaysia but anywhere. The breakfast is great, and kids eat free. On our departure day, after a quick chat, we were able to check out at 2 PM. They provide unlimited bottled water for the room, which saved us quite a bit. The water park next door is perfect for kids around ten years old, though it gets too sunny in the afternoon to really enjoy for long. The only downside is that the hotel feels like an island; you can't walk to grab a meal or visit a convenience store. The road outside has no sidewalks, so you're constantly relying on taxis. Taxis, taxis, taxis! That was a real pain. On a final note, the hotel pool is fantastic ā hardly anyone there and super clean.
GGuest UserIt was a nice experience to stay at 23 Love Lane Hotel, which is filled with Peranakan Heritage. Hotel staffs are nice and very friendly. Also, the location is close to any famous tourist spots.
However, we would like to share a few points that could be improved.
- Despite hotel room being clean, sheets and towels are quite old, which made us very uncomfortable. We saw some stains on towels and most of them had already turned yellow. As for sheets, we still believe they were clean since we didnāt see any previous residentsā hairs, but sheets and pillow covers had also yellowed. They could consider to change them to new ones.
- Breakfast was not as good as we expected. The buffet only had few menu(salad, fruits and crackers) and the main courses are also limited. The taste was okay, but we would recommend future residents to consider eating outside in order to maximize their stay.
- We noticed one of the amenities was already opened by our previous residents(not used), but still there. Hope housekeepers had checked before.
- Our cutlery werenāt washed and changed at our second night. Even after we asked them for another new cutlery, the guy only washed it with water and used sponge. Since thereāre original stains as well, we decided not to use the cutlery anymore.
Although we found there were some spaces to improve, we still think it worths living there if you want unique experience to live in Peranakan Heritage Mansion
Weāre expecting future improvements so that this heritage will be preserved in the future.
HHeihemaThe hotel is right by the sea, with the beach just beyond the lawn and outdoor pool. The staff provided excellent service, and check-in was very quick. I loved the lawn and big trees outside my window, especially when they were lit up at night ā it looked beautiful. You can watch the sunset directly from your room or balcony, though many people go down to the beach to see it up close by the water. A short walk from there is the beach fire show. Turn right outside the hotel's main entrance, and you'll find a bustling night market in the evenings, with lots of traffic and activity. During the day, it's much quieter. It feels like a small town here, with many houses and even an amusement park, plus a surprisingly large Starbucks. As a Marriott resort, the hotel's facilities and services are top-notch. I especially have to mention the live cooking station at breakfast; both the freshly cooked noodles and vermicelli were delicious, but you absolutely cannot miss the soup ā it was amazing! š
GGuest UserHighly recommended for families with young children! The room isn't huge, but it's well-designed, with comfortable lighting and a clean, odor-free environment. The shower has great water pressure and gets nice and hot. There are plenty of kids' facilities, and the pool is excellent, with super responsible lifeguards ā parents of older kids can really relax there. There's also a kids' club for children under 12. They have a private beach, though the sea in Penang isn't particularly blue and has jellyfish, so swimming isn't an option. Part of the hotel is under renovation, but my room felt very new, likely recently refurbished. There's a Hard Rock Cafe on the ground floor with a live band every night at 8:45 PM, creating a great atmosphere. This is a family-friendly hotel with excellent value for money.
