My son and nephew stayed in the Premier Twin Room, and their feedback honestly left me flabbergasted. For boys whose vocabulary on things like hotels and hospitality is usually quite limited, they simply could not stop yapping about how much they loved the room!
According to them, the room was huge, comfortable, and incredibly cosy. Their absolute favourite part? The complimentary mini bar items — that definitely earned extra points! They also could not stop talking about how amazing the shower was.
A special mention must also go to the housekeeping team. Hats off to the housekeeping lad who somehow managed to clean and organise the room so well despite the unbelievable amount of clutter the boys created within such a short time frame. Truly impressive and very much appreciated.
The boys also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast spread and kept mentioning the warmth and hospitality showered upon them throughout their stay.
Thank you once again to the entire team at Sunway Hotel Penang for making their stay such a memorable one. It is experiences like these that keep us coming back.
Had a pleasant stay at Urban Suites by Urban Pleasure in Penang. The unit was clean, spacious, and comfortable for our group of 7, although I would say 6 people would be the ideal number for a more relaxing stay. The location was convenient and the facilities were quite complete, especially the swimming pool and gym. One thing we really appreciated was the washing machine and dryer, which made the trip much easier for longer stays. The view from the unit was also beautiful, especially at night when the city lights started glowing like a mini galaxy. Overall, a good and worthwhile stay for families or groups visiting Penang.
The hotel is quite new, and the parking is very unique - it uses an automated parking system, which was an interesting and pleasant experience. The lobby is located on the second floor, and the staff were friendly.
The room was a bit smaller than expected. Once you open the door, the bed is right there. There’s no sofa, only a small round stool without a backrest, and no proper desk - just a small movable table. There are two bedside tables, but no proper space to place luggage, so we had to sacrifice the small table for that.
The water heater needs to be turned on manually. When it’s switched on, there are water droplets in the bathroom. We checked with the front desk and were told this is normal and that it stops once the water heats up (well… alright).
Because the room is quite compact, the air-conditioning blows directly onto the bed no matter how you adjust it. The hotel does provide an air-conditioner deflector upon request, which we asked for. Interestingly, the staff will deliver it to you, but installation is self-service (ha-ha).
Aside from these points, everything else was satisfactory. The location is excellent, with easy access to many places. (recommended to stay)
This hotel is excellent. It's brand new and completely odor-free. The rooms even have water purifiers for direct drinking, and hot water is readily available – a huge plus since most hotels in Malaysia don't provide bottled mineral water, and buying it outside can be quite cumbersome. The room design is superb and very well-suited for Chinese guests, with brand new kitchen utensils too. The hotel's location is also fantastic. Just a short walk away, you can catch a free bus for sightseeing around Penang. It's less than a 10-minute walk from the former site where Sun Yat-sen founded the Tongmenghui, and GAMA Supermarket is also within walking distance, offering great products at reasonable prices. You can take the free bus to many attractions. It's also conveniently located about a 30-minute drive from the airport. Plus, you can easily get to the jetty to catch a ferry to Butterworth and then take a train to Ipoh, or even directly to Kuala Lumpur. All in all, it's incredibly convenient and definitely worth staying. This hotel is a perfect choice for a trip to Penang.
A nice, fairly new hotel. The Family Room (1 king, 1 single) was quite large and nice. Beds were really comfortable with high, firm pillows.Single bed was in a corner by itself. Had a sofa, table and chair as well, with a long open cupboard. Had a good view of the sea and a bit of the pool. Balcony was nice, but didn't have anything eg chair + table. Bathroom was spacious with the usual amenities. My main issue is that nearly all the lights are controlled by one switch, so quite inconvenient when everybody sleeps at a different time. Breakfast buffet was ok only, but lovely seaview. Location is about 25 minutes' drive from Georgetown.
My family and I recently enjoyed a stay at Angsana Teluk Bahang and found it to be the perfect choice for a relaxing staycation. Located on the quieter side of Penang, the resort is about 40–50 minutes from George Town, which may feel a little far from the city centre, but that's exactly what makes it special.
If you're looking to escape the traffic, crowds, and bustle of town, Angsana offers a peaceful beachfront retreat with plenty of space to unwind. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with beautiful sea views, and the beach is not crowded at all.
The infinity pool overlooking the sea was a favourite spot for our family, especially in the evenings when the sunset painted the sky over the Straits of Malacca.
The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, helping to make the stay smooth and enjoyable from check-in to departure.
Although the resort feels secluded, it's still only a short drive from Batu Ferringhi if you want to explore local food, night markets, or nearby attractions. For us, however, the best part was simply slowing down and enjoying the calm surroundings.
Overall, Angsana Teluk Bahang is an excellent option for families seeking a relaxing beachfront staycation. While it is some distance from the city, the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful sea views, and resort facilities make it well worth the trip, will definitely come again!
We booked this place out of spontaneity. Didn't really do much research about it and rely purely on the reviews. But the place really exceeds our expectations! The view is the winning point and the beds are out of this world. In the unit itself there is no washer provided but it's not an issue since the paid version is ready at the common area. For the price and the size of the unit, I would definitely revisit it in my next trip
The service apartment is new, but only 4 lift cater for 36 storey, waiting time take too long, we miss the facilities floor. The apartment doesn't come with free parking, carpark is chargeable RM9 per day stay at level 3 to level 10, the carpark ramp is very narrow. Room is clean, but bathroom shower water pressure is too low.
The hotel facilities were decent, and the room was spacious and clean, making for a very comfortable stay overall. Most importantly, the hotel's location is fantastic! Many attractions in George Town are within walking distance, which is incredibly convenient. There are also plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around the hotel. There's a durian stall called 'Seng Huat' very close by, which I highly recommend! They have a great variety of durians, the owner offers excellent service, and there's no need to queue.
The hotel breakfast was quite ample. The gym on the fourth floor is large and well-equipped, and the pool is also sizable.
The only downside was the somewhat cold attitude of the Malay staff. When I went back to the concierge to retrieve something from my stored luggage, they were very impatient. Similarly, during breakfast registration, the Malay staff member was brusque and stern-faced. It makes me wonder, are Malay people truly unfriendly towards Chinese people?
In contrast, the Indian and Chinese staff at the front desk for check-in, as well as the Indian housekeeping staff, were very warm and proactive.
Located in the heart of Penang, a bit far from the Old Town, but the living environment and surrounding amenities are excellent. The living conditions are much better than in the Old Town, and the area is very vibrant.

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult
RRawaaidaSo satisfied! Just jumped straight into the pool whenever I wanted a swim. The food was delicious with lots of choices. My kids were happy playing at the playground on the 8th floor. And it was free! 😊 ✨

WWinny YauIt was my husband's ***** birthday on the day we checked in, so I had requested a simple room decoration beforehand. The hotel room staff told me they would fold two elephants out of towels, which I thought was already very thoughtful! Then, they even sent up a cake, which I really appreciated! These warm gestures made our Penang trip truly memorable. The room was clean and comfortable, and even though it was a little dated, it wasn't run-down. I was very satisfied with this experience and would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.
GGuest UserEnvironment: The hotel isn't very big, but it's small and exquisite, with direct beach access. There are three pools, two large and one small, with the smallest being a 0.5-meter kiddie pool, which is quite tiny. I booked a deluxe sea view room, but apparently, all rooms of this type have a side sea view. I'm not sure what makes it 'deluxe' – I really disliked it 👎. If a direct sea view is important to you, don't book this hotel.
Service: Everything else was pretty good, except for the Indian front desk lady at the Chinese restaurant.
Beware: If there's a private event, it will take over the best public areas of the hotel. Honestly, the thing I disliked most throughout my stay was that the 'sea view room' didn't have a proper sea view at all.
PPetrelHad a fantastic stay! The room was spacious and very comfortable. The free parking was a huge bonus. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Unlike other hotels that offer a welcome drink, Sho Hotel provides a complimentary coffee/tea/orange juice every single day. If you stay for several days, you get several drinks – it's such a thoughtful touch! I'd redeem mine every morning before heading out, and the staff would put it in a to-go cup for me to take with me. Absolutely delightful! ❤️
Sho Hotel will definitely be my first choice next time I visit Penang!
WWalter Zhou-zhouyipingOn a business trip to Penang, I'd stayed here before and chose this hotel again. The location is excellent, about a 30-minute drive from Penang International Airport. There are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and shopping malls nearby, and it's not far from the Street Art area. The front desk is on the 20th floor; the staff are friendly, and there's a comfortable business and lounge area. The room amenities are comprehensive and clean. This time, I noticed they added a water dispenser, which is eco-friendly and convenient for guests from different countries, offering warm, hot, and iced water. Breakfast on the 21st floor isn't extensive but decent. There's also a good cafe right opposite the hotel with nice breakfast options. Overall, a great experience. I'll choose this hotel again next time.
SStevenvaFacilities: The facilities and equipment are quite old-fashioned, like the door handles, faucets, and switches, but they all work perfectly and have a great sense of history.
Cleanliness: The hygiene was excellent. Housekeeping even came in the mornings to offer fresh towels and drinking water.
Environment: The environment is beyond words. I think it's the best and quietest area in George Town, right by the sea. The sunrises and sunsets were incredibly relaxing.
Service: As soon as the taxi pulled up to the hotel, a doorman was there to greet us, help with luggage, and check us in. The front desk staff spoke multiple languages, making check-in very smooth. Our luggage was quickly brought to our room by a doorman. The F&B staff were all very warm and attentive.
This time, I stayed in the Deluxe Heritage Wing Suite, which was incredibly comfortable. Highly recommend!
