Cheap Hotels in Monterey

"The hotel is located in the center of Monterey. The pick-up room was small, but it had coffee and snacks. We arrived at 12:30 and asked if we could leave our luggage. They offered to drive us to the 17-Mile Drive and Carmel-by-the-Sea. The front desk initially said there would be a $20 fee for early check-in, but since we asked to store our luggage, they probably thought it was too much trouble and agreed to let us check in early for free. The room had a microwave and refrigerator, a separate shower and toilet, and large windows. The only downside was the lack of an elevator; we had to carry our luggage to the second floor ourselves, though it wasn't too high. The hotel was quiet and safe. We were very satisfied. There was no one at the front desk when we checked out; we just dropped the key into a box similar to a mailbox."

"A gorgeous hotel on Cannery Row. The room was super big and comfortable. Yes, it's an old hotel with history, but everything was clean, and it had the best bed I've slept in during my month in the US. You just don't want to get out of it! The mattress and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and there was a duvet cover – I was surprised, as I hadn't seen one anywhere else and thought they didn't know what it was here, but apparently, they do. The service was top-notch; they helped with luggage during check-in and check-out, and the ladies at reception were very responsive. Everything you need is in the room. The bathroom is spacious, the room is large and comfortable, and sleeping with the window open is a pure delight. The only downside is the showerhead – it's a plague in hotels! It's fixed to the wall and has very weak water pressure, which is a disaster. It's impossible to shower without getting your hair wet if you don't have a shower cap. And the hairdryer! That's just a tragedy for a hotel of this caliber. The hairdryer was like my grandma's, so old and weak. I practically burned all my hair with it. I called reception and asked for another one, but they said all rooms only have that type of hairdryer. I told them it was a tragedy, that it takes an hour to dry your hair, and I don't know what century it's from. The views from the hotel are amazing, with panoramic windows, and the restaurant is one of the best in the city. The location is 🔝."

"The room was quite spacious and came equipped with a coffee maker and a microwave. I was assigned a first-floor room, and an elevator is also available for convenience. Overall, it's a nice hotel. The only minor issue was when I went to make coffee, I found a used coffee pod from the previous guest still left in the machine."

"Room was clean. Motel style that car park at front of room. However, when checking that have to deposit $100 but indian staff make a mistake to put $10,000 on EDC. Lucky my bank immediately block this transaction. No apology from staff. She just laughed."

"This was my first time staying at a motel. The facilities were similar to those of budget hotels in China—clean and new. It had its own small yard, and parking was relatively safe. The only downside was that when I arrived at night, there was no one at the front desk; I had to press the disabled access bell to get someone to check me in. There's a commercial area across the street with supermarkets and restaurants, making dining convenient. The 17 Mile Golf Resort in town (which charges an entrance fee) has beautiful scenery and is well worth a visit."

"The hotel is very close to the aquarium. The room was large and had a fireplace, which made it very warm. There was a long sofa bed by the window, but I kept hitting my head on the corner of the wall! I hit it so hard I forgot to take pictures. The bathroom faucet was leaking, and I called twice but no one answered. When checking in, the front desk saw Asian faces and put them in a different building. I had read other guest comments before and it turns out they were true. The other building had a long corridor connecting it, and the room faced the street, which was extremely noisy. There was a constant mix of music and loud motorcycle sounds. This night was too long, I had to wait until dawn. Breakfast was very good, generous portions and delicious. The restaurant and parking attendants were all very nice."

"This hotel is in a small town we passed through while driving along Highway 1. It's quite clean, and breakfast was just apples and energy bars. Overall, it offers good value for money. There's also a pool, but it was too cold to swim."

"The facilities in the hotel room are very new, the towels and quilts are new, the mattress is soft and comfortable, there is no toothbrush, toothpaste and disposable slippers, no bottled water and electric kettle, it seems that American hotels do not have these things, no deposit is required, check in with the passport of the person who booked the room (one person is enough). The hotel is 4 miles away from the Monterey Old Fisherman's Wharf, you need to drive there, parking is free, there is a gas station across the road, and you can go to the ”Uncle” supermarket in town for shopping. The hotel is a two-story building with no elevator"
