From the minute we arrived at Amaara Forest, the welcome we received and how our every need was catered to until we departed, was truly exceptional. The staff believe in traditional Sri Lankan hospitality with their welcoming smile & warmth. For us it was a getaway with buddies to unwind and enjoy serenity in the midst of a forest, which we did to the maximum. For those who love & value nature, this is a "hidden gem" !! The attractions or our heritages such as the majestic, Sigiriya is a short drive and so are the mature reserves that include the famous Minneriya Nature Reserve, where elephants can be observed in their natural habitat. When we left Amaara Forest, after a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast at their famous "Tree Tops" which is built halfway up a tree on a sturdy platform, we were serenaded by a flutist as well. We soaked in the peace and the sounds of nature with gratitude for having stayed in a wonderous place. We left with the promise of returning for a similar experience in the neat future. "Our stay at Fresco Water Villa was very disappointing. The room had a lot of mosquitoes and insects, which made it very uncomfortable to stay in. The condition of the room was poor, and the furniture was old, damaged, and not properly usable. The food was another major disappointment. There were almost no vegetarian options available, and the quality was so poor that we chose not to eat there at all. Overall, the hotel did not meet our expectations, and I would not recommend it based on our experience."

"One of the best hotels I lived in Sri Lanka, running by a local family. They are very nice and hospitable and even provided very delicious local breakfast with wild honey and welcome coconut water. The room was a quite big with high ceiling, clean and all the stuffs were available. The hotel is in the closest location to climb the rock mountain called Pidurangala to view panorama view of Sigiri and sunrise and sunset and very close to Sigiri Lion Rock as well. The hotel can provide car and jeep services. Jeep safari to see a herd and other wild animals were quite an experience to feel the wilderness and nature. This hotel is 100% recommended when you are in Sigiriya. If you need a car service for city to city travel, here is the service provider, called Danu and his contact number is (0774) 642 805. He is a nice and humble guy with certified local guide. We got his service from Sigiriya to Kandy to Yalla to Colombo, the trip went very smooth and we are happy that we covered all the attractions places with his assistance. Highly recommended!!"

"The hotel is a bit off the main road, nestled in the jungle. It has a large, beautiful property with a decent restaurant that served tasty food. In the room, there's a concrete bed and concrete countertops, and the outlets are inconveniently located under the nightstands. Maybe the design was cool initially, but now it looks a bit tired. What I didn't like was the lack of soap (though they brought some when I asked), and the shower gel and shampoo bottles were already half-used. Also, the toilet seat didn't fit properly. The hotel staff, in general, were willing to help with any issues within their power."

"It was such a wonderful hotel that I would like to stay there again. The grounds were spacious, with cottages surrounded by greenery, and there were monkeys and birds. It's along the lake, so the scenery is beautiful. The bathtub valve was broken so the hot water ran out quickly, the food took a long time to arrive, and there was not much variety in breakfast, but they prepared lunch boxes for us early in the morning when we asked, which was very helpful, and the staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were very kind. "I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Sigiriya Kingdom Resort. I made a confirmed booking at an agreed rate, but later—especially in the middle of the night—the hotel attempted to change the price. This is unacceptable and feels highly unprofessional. A confirmed booking should be honored, not altered under pressure. What made the situation worse was the lack of proper customer support. When I raised the issue, no clear explanation or reasonable solution was provided. Instead, my time was wasted with poor communication and no accountability from the staff. This kind of behavior damages trust and creates a very negative experience for guests. Transparency and honesty are basic expectations in hospitality, and unfortunately, this hotel failed in both. I strongly urge future guests to double-check all booking details and be cautious. I also hope the management takes this seriously and improves their customer service and ethical standards. And I'm traveling from almost 400 km away from their destination. Thats how they treated me. Disappointed and unacceptable"
