Harbin Central Street Sophia Xana Deluxe Hotel Reviews

Facilities: Decent. Cleanliness: Excellent. Our room was cleaned daily. Location: Fantastic! It's just a stone's throw from Central Avenue, which was perfect for a leisurely stroll any time of day. There are so many delicious snacks to try; Madieer ice cream is an absolute must-have, and the chimney cake is also worth trying. Plus, you can easily catch a beautiful sunset by the Songhua River in the evening. Deluxe Buffet Afternoon Tea: The small pastries and fruits were decent, and we appreciated that bottled water was freely available.

Management should really work on improving staff's service awareness and hygiene standards. Service: My entire impression of people from Harbin was completely ruined by one particular cleaning staff member. Upon entering the room, I found the duvet cover was dirty and there were two piles of hair on the floor. When I asked the cleaner to change the bed linen and clean the room, she showed her displeasure and gave me attitude. Facilities: It's hard to believe that in this day and age, they only provide one room key per room and refused to give us an extra one. And that's not even the worst part. I called for assistance because I desperately needed to use the restroom. It took forever for her to arrive, and when she finally did, she was slowly strolling along without a smile. I politely asked, 'Could you possibly hurry a little?' Her reply was, 'I have to take the elevator, you know.' I then said, 'Okay, but could you be quicker once you're off the elevator? I'm really waiting to use the restroom!' I was utterly speechless. I didn't bother contacting the hotel management because I didn't want to ruin my mood any further. After all this, I will absolutely not be staying at this hotel again. Deluxe Buffet Afternoon Tea: Didn't use.

An excellent hotel, practically right on Central Street. The staff were incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, always ready to assist with any request. The hotel environment was also spotless. I hadn't really noticed the XANA brand before, but this stay left a fantastic impression. I'd definitely be open to trying other XANA hotels in different locations. The breakfast was also quite good, offering a decent variety of options. Its location is superb, very close to both St. Sophia Cathedral and the Flood Control Monument, and transportation was very convenient. The next day, when I was checking out to go to the Daoli Hilton, a hotel staff member even helped me with my luggage while I was waiting for a car outside. His proactive attitude was truly commendable.

The rooms are quite spacious and clean. This time, I was traveling with my children and elderly parents, and I booked two rooms. They thoughtfully arranged them to be next to each other, and my parents' room wasn't facing the street, so it was quiet and peaceful. We had booked a Deluxe King Room but were upgraded to a Deluxe Suite, which was fantastic. However, having only one remote control for two TVs was a minor inconvenience. The hotel is very close to Central Street and the Songhua River. Daqiao Vegetable Market and St. Sophia Cathedral are also within easy walking distance. Nearby is Laochujia, a local highly-rated, long-established Northeastern cuisine restaurant. It's affordable, offers great value, and the food is delicious. Because it's so close, even without a reservation, you can get a queue number and wait back at the hotel, monitoring their WeChat for updates on your turn. Public transport (buses and subway) is also very convenient. The only drawback was that there was only one room key, which also served as the power card, making it a bit inconvenient. The breakfast was also quite affordable and good value, with discounts available for larger groups.

This is my first time traveling to China and the first time I was very impressed, both the accommodation and the people. This hotel welcomed me very well, provided tea, the staff were smiling, even the housekeeper was lovely. The hotel is clean, beautiful, near the main road and many important places, easy to travel. If I have a chance to go to China again, I will definitely stay here again.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Staff didn’t understand English very well but was still super helpful. I also appreciate the little details they provided such as free water bottles on every floor and free afternoon snacks. Will definitely stay here next time if I’m in Harbin again.

Great location, artfully decorated and super comfortable. Super convenient to major attractions in the center of the city and the metro was a short walk away.

Pros 1). Chosen this hotel because of its location which is very good. It is only few steps away from Central Street. 2). The staff (all the ladies) from the breakfast restaurant were super nice and friendly. The house keeping ladies were kind and helpful as well. Kudos to every one of them! Cons 1). No one speaks English at the front desk. **2). Horrible horrible front desk customer service! I am a frequently traveller and I have never experienced such a poor customer service, the hotel really needs to give better training to the people at the front desk (those who work during the day shift), especially the lady in short hair with a very arrogant and bad attitude. I was politely asking one of the ladies behind the counter about the directions to a shop, she was not sure, and she asked her colleague (which was the short hair lady) to assist me. To my surprise, this unfriendly short hair lady just rolled her eyes to her colleague and rudely told me to check for "navigation" myself (I think that was what she meant, as my Mandarin is not that good). Later she impatiently just brushed off the other questions that I tried to ask her, and before I even finished my sentence, she just abruptly turned around and walked away!!! HOW RUDE !!! I think I was not even given a respect as a human being!!! I was so stunned and speechless!!! Her colleague standing next to her witness what happened but did not say anything or offered to help! Let me tell you what other hotels will do when guests ask for directions- they would kindly check online and provide the directions, or they would even print out the directions for guests (all with a SMILE!). The lady in short hair, you are working in a hotel which is a service industry!!! I will not stay or recommend this hotel based upon this unpleasant experience. P.S. I stayed in the Mercure Harbin Sophia Church after and had a great experience. All the ladies at the front desk always greet guests with a smile, always friendly and willing to help. I am not sure if this is because Mecure is an international brand which the training for customer service is different from local brands?

This Hotel is very nice. Location is strategic, within walking distance to the Central Street. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. The snack corner was delightful, too.
