Hello, everyone! We recently stayed at this hotel, and the experience was mixed — there are some nice touches, but also noticeable shortcomings. **Room:** The room was spacious but clearly outdated; furniture and interior look worn. The ventilation works, yet it still feels quite stuffy inside. It would be great if the hotel improved air-conditioning or installed mosquito screens: the sea view is beautiful, but opening the window isn’t an option because of too many insects. **Facilities & Service:** The only real extras are massage service and a shared onsen. There’s no gym, pool, or other activities — the hotel is designed for quiet relaxation. A shuttle service is available, which is convenient, but if you miss it, getting to the hotel on your own can be quite difficult. During this stay the hotel was quite busy, and it often took a long time to catch the elevator to our floor. **Dining:** Breakfast and dinner can be pre-booked; the food was tasty and varied. The bar offers a pleasant atmosphere with a decent drink selection, and in the evening the lobby lounge opens with alcoholic drinks and light snacks — a nice way to unwind after a day of sightseeing. **Location:** The property faces Beppu Bay, yet the seaside feeling is limited — there are few walking areas nearby, and due to insects it’s hard to enjoy the open air. **Overall:** A good option for a calm, onsen-style getaway with decent food and polite staff, but when the hotel is crowded, the lack of facilities and outdated rooms become more noticeable. With some modernization and better infrastructure, this could be an excellent resort.

Pros: Breakfast is quite good. Provides quite a wide variety of options. There are lots of parking which is good for those who drives. Cons: Entire building is quite old and really needs a renovation. Everything in the room is quite wear and tear. Bathroom is super small, no places for placing clean clothes after shower. Toilet is very close to the door which you will need to curl yourself a bit to fit in the seat and turn yourself to the bathtub side to be able to stand up properly. Onsen closes at 11 pm and last entry is 1030pm??! It reopens again in the morning at 6am till 9/ 10am. Not really appreciating the arrangement as it is quite rare to hear that the onsen will actually close for several hours instead of a short period for hygiene purpose when it is possible for guests to arrive late at night and wanting to relax after a long day. The hotel provides one piece after shower wear but won't allow guests to wear it to the lobby or anywhere within the hotel (only in the guest room and your way to the onsen or return to your room from onsen). What is the point of providing the clothing but won't allow you to wear it within the hotel?

Very nice hotel facing the ocean, hotel provide shuttle bus service from Beppu station which makes it very convenient for traveller. Room size is very big and bright. Breakfast is great with wide variety of food.

Lots of tour groups tourists. Otherwise a nice hotel. Free parking available, first come first serve. Nice view from room.

The room, costing over 1,000, was extremely old and dilapidated. Avoid the tatami rooms at all costs! Woke up to find bugs on the floor, and the carpet was full of stains. Luckily, it was only a one-night stay.

The hotel lounge is complimentary and incredibly well-stocked, offering a wide array of coffee, black tea, various soft drinks, gummy candies, dried fruits, and even vegetable chips. The breakfast buffet was decent, but I definitely wouldn't recommend dinner – the quality was poor, and it was ridiculously overpriced. Our Japanese-style room, while feeling a bit basic, was very spacious. The complimentary hot spring tote bag, which guests can take home, was a thoughtful touch.

The hotel has both indoor and outdoor onsen. Free drinks and snacks at the lobby. We had a good walk around the hotel to a fishing deck nice experience

We had one day free in Fukuoka and we decided to spend one day in Beppu, chose this hotel. That was the only one right choice ever. Amazing hotel, great food, so kind stuff and we spent all the time in onsen there. Totally recommend👌🏻

It was horrible to stay a night there as I never expected the room to be so dated and dirty. I booked a Japanese style room, it was a very dark room and all the furniture was dated and the mat was very filthy. When I switched on the air conditioner, a super bad smell came out from it and the staff said nothing can do expect a spray. So I requested to change the room. They let us change to the western style room which was a bit better, but the furniture was still very dated and looked dirty. A 3-star hotel Without breakfast and the location was not convenient, I think the price was not reasonable. I am sure not recommended this hotel.

The closest hotel to Harmonyland which allows you to take taxi to and from the theme park at a reasonable price. The hotel basically provides everything from snacks, drinks and meals all day including dinner and breakfast, everything was excellent. I was aware that Mercure is an international hotel chain thus the vibes of the hotel itself can’t truly be entirely Japanese. However, I was still very satisfied with my stay overall. I was so lucky to see some cherry blossom trees still in their peak at the hotel parking lot while the peak of most other trees in different areas had already passed. The hotel also offers free shuttle from and to Beppu Station which we found to be very helpful.

The location is good, and you can see the beautiful Beppu Bay. The hotel is very considerate and offers a free drinking night in the lobby bar. There is a beautiful church facing the bay.

A very good price was found for my booking. A non-smoking room was requested, but a cigarette smell was noticed inside. The check-in and check-out process was easy and smooth. Free parking and the public onsen were really nice, too. If the same price can be booked for my next visit, a return will be considered. Otherwise, there might be better options. The bathroom and toilet in the room was really small. No bottled water was offered in the room.
