Hohhot Hang Gai International Youth Hostel Reviews

Had an amazing stay at Hang Gai International Youth Hostel! Three of us stayed and the hostel itself was just what you need - comfy bed, hot water and in a great location to explore the city (you can get subway, taxi or cycle/ebike pretty much everywhere). But what made the stay so good was Hanggai and the amazing trip we went on to the grasslands. Hanggai is a fantastic hostel, very friendly and welcoming, and we spent an evening at his place a few hours drive for the hostel; as you can see by the photos it was a beautiful location and super quiet. Would definitely recommend! Thanks again Hanggai, we had a great time! 😊

Manager on duty was pleasant and super helpful. Just need a better signboard for the hostel as the alley is dark. Great hospitality by the manager

A little cramped and sometimes it’s hard to find the staff. However the price is cheap and the location is good.

Very friendly staff, who were also open to some tak in the evenings. Good atmosphere, and ideal location with a metro station, Shopping Center, Inner Mongolia Museum and multiple bars all being very close. 10/10, highly recommend!

The hostel itself is very cute and cozy, though you will notice that it's already been through some years. The rooms themselves were nice and clean. The bathrooms only have squatting toilets, which in itself is not a problem; however I believe there were some guests around that didn't know how to properly use them and the bathrooms weren't cleaned daily so unfortunaly I cannot give more points on cleanliness. I don't know how much English is spoken and I'm not sure how many tips staff can give about the surrounding sights. We asked if it was possible to get to the Xilamuren grasslands by public bus and the receptionist told us it wasn't. It is though, you can take a long distance bus to Zhaohe from the long distance bus station. We didn't ask for any more directions afterwards...

Great location near Exit D, Inner Mongolia Museum Line 1 Metro. No maintenance. Friendly neighborhood.

I’n generally the hotel isn’t of a high standard but I bet you the price is way cheaper, I enjoyed my stay here, the receptionist could speak English, he was very kind and help , to be-honest if I’m coming back to the hotel it’s because of the receptionist ,he even prepared food for me , I couldn’t believed it, the guy is just so go that he will answer all your questions and be there for you. I recommend this hotel to anyone, you will like it trust me and the location is great.

i am greeted warmly every time i come

I arrived on my own to Inner Mongolia and left with a heart full of experiences, adventures and good friends all happy to discover with an open mind. Beds are comfortable and daily cleaning is in place, location is super whether coming from the train station or airport you can reach the hostel in less than 15-20 minutes by metro. The atmosphere in the hostel is precious and this is all in grand part due to Hang Gai & fam ‘s warm welcome. I will always remember the immense grasslands and the valuable discussions. I am touched and it was hard to leave but I am sure I will be right back if ever in Hohhot again.

I really appreciated an owner who spoke good English. He was very kind and even gave me a little gift before I left. The location is excellent.

The location is good, 5 minutes walk from the Metro station and situated near the Inner Mongolia museum with very convenient transport The young owners are very supportive and cooperative and do their best to make the stay comfortable The dormitory rooms are spacious with comfortable bed and there are good spaces to sit and relax The toilets and shower room needs upgradation as it is still very old style Overall the hostel is a reasonable place for budget travelers

Hangai is a great host. We also booked a tour out to the prairie with him where we saw traditional Mongol yerts and grassland. We then did archery and horse riding before seeing a temple on the way back. I would definitely recommend Hangai Hostel to young travellers.
