"The staff were very friendly but housekeeping was sometimes slow or they would not show up. The hotel was located near a shopping centre and provided a nice view. The room was clean, however if your prefer firm bedding the mattresses were quite soft."

"Consider it a happy little accident. I had missed my flight home because of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Day Parade and was stuck an extra day on Oahu. I looked to see what was the cheapest hotel room available and the Ka La’i popped up which surprised me. Booked the room quick because the Honolulu Marathon was the following day and almost every hotel was sold out. I got an ocean view suite with a King bed as my room and loved it. Bathroom was amazing, bed was super comfortable and overall the suite was spacious. Although it had a kitchen it didn’t have a dedicated dining table, even a small one. Only thing in the sitting area was a glass coffee table that was long enough for my needs of just a late night pizza dinner. Staff was helpful and even as I was checking out, I casually asked if I could tour the Penthouse suite because I had always wanted to book it. The 2 front desk workers escorted me to the Penthouse and gave me a little tour. It was impressive. Definitely would stay there again soon."

The Kahala Hotel & Resort Hotels in Honolulu

The Kahala Hotel & Resort

"Hygiene: Excellent. The entire place was very clean and tidy, with no trash or dust, and no unpleasant smells – everywhere smelled fresh. The gym was also clean. The only minor issue was the pool, which could get a bit noisy and messy due to the crowd. Ambiance: Fantastic. The rooms themselves were impeccable, all over 50 square meters, with mostly identical layouts, just differing in their specific location. They had everything you could ask for: a bathtub, shower, two sinks, two wardrobes, a dressing table, and a balcony with a view. A special mention for the bathtub – it filled up incredibly fast, less than five minutes, which is the quickest I've ever seen. The decor was very sophisticated, with high-quality materials that gave it a timeless feel, yet it was maintained beautifully, which was very impressive. Service: Excellent. The doormen were highly efficient at opening car doors and handling luggage. The check-in experience at the front desk was great; the staff's attitude was impeccable, they were very professional, didn't strictly adhere to every rule, and were very generous and welcoming. If a room was available, they arranged immediate check-in. Any requests were handled with high efficiency; for example, beach chairs were brought and set up quickly, and anything needed was brought to the room promptly. They even helped close the curtains, making us feel truly at home. Facilities: Outstanding. The decor is very distinctive and rich in character. It has all the amenities expected of a five-star hotel. As one of Hawaii's top three luxury hotel resorts, it boasts a quiet private beach and a golf course, plus its own dolphin lagoon where you can experience close interaction with dolphins. There are four restaurants, a well-equipped gym with fruit and lemon-coconut water, and well-appointed restrooms. There are also many century-old decorations and various shops, all selling co-branded hotel merchandise, which is quite rare and unique. Overall, this hotel is absolutely worth a special trip. All aspects were flawless. What truly stands out is its century-old heritage and expansive space, yet it shows no signs of age and is meticulously maintained. I personally love this feeling of historical charm. Highly recommended."

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club Hotels in Honolulu

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club

"Except that the price is a bit expensive, everything else is satisfactory! Since it is a timeshare vacation club hotel, the suites basically come with a kitchen and all Western cooking utensils, everything you need! There is also a washing machine and dryer. The seaside environment is beautiful, the climate is pleasant, and the scenery is everywhere. The hotel faces its own lagoon (lagoon), which is very comfortable for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling (the sea water is a bit cold now, so you need a little courage when you first go into the sea! It will be fine in a while!). The three outdoor swimming pools are suitable for children to the elderly to play and swim, and are equipped with hot water massage pools and saunas (dry steam, wet steam). In short, this hotel is very suitable for couples, couples, second and third generations to travel together! In addition, there is a difference between sea view rooms and mountain view rooms, but they can also be balanced by spending more time outdoors. It is recommended that friends who have been to Waikiki Beach in Honolulu give this place a try, you will definitely have a different feeling!"

"Perfect location. Rooms clean and beds comfy. Great breakfast but should have included in package. Daily charge very expensive. Naive about the daily resort charge which made it a very expensive stay, you’re not made aware until check out. Great holiday though. Will be back but better prepared for hidden charges"

"Spent 2 nights at Hotel La Croix on Oahu. Arrived quite early; around noon and figured I’d try to see if I could get an early check in. The front desk employee, Vince, recognized me from my last stay there a couple months ago. He helped my parents and I get into an available room for an early check in.  Room was clean and had a good view of the city which I wish I took some photos of. If there was one downside I think it would have to be the pillows. There were pretty flat and well used but clean. Definitely wish they were bigger and more life to them.  Overall the stay was great. No issues and the manager Craig also suggested some good places to go an eat at."

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort ★★★★
"The Rainbow Tower is perfect for a family of four, with two spacious queen-sized beds (1.5 meters wide). This tower is one of the newer buildings within the Hilton property. A higher floor offers better views. We were on the 30th floor (upgrading to an ocean view room costs an additional $65 per day, which we didn't do). Facing directly towards the Reef Island, and with half the ocean visible, it’s a 'semi-ocean view' and still offers excellent vistas. On the day we checked in, there was some small trash left in the toilet that hadn't been cleaned. We were too late and tired to call the front desk, but when we returned from our outing the next day, it had been thoroughly cleaned, and the beds were made (we left a dollar tip each day we went out). There's no kettle in the room, nor is drinking water provided. Bring a cup, and you can get water from the purifiers downstairs. There's a coffee machine, but the water inlet had a lot of scale, so it didn't look very clean, and we didn't use it. **Convenience:** The beach is right downstairs, along with several swimming pools. It's super convenient to be able to get back to the room for a shower within 5 minutes after playing in the water. **Dining:** Across from the Rainbow Tower is Tropics Bar & Grill, which serves breakfast and lunch. It's a bit more expensive than outside the hotel, but the food is good. Coffee here is $6 with unlimited refills, and you can even take a cup to go when you leave. For kids who don't like meat, I recommend the pancakes. For meat-lovers, try the Sunrise Sando. Their signature Tropical Acai Bowl is a smoothie made from blended berries and ice, topped with granola, banana, and strawberries. It tastes a bit like ice cream and is great for cooling down after sun exposure. There's also an excellent ice cream shop in the hotel; the line starts forming around 5 PM, and one scoop costs $7.99. **Shopping:** There's an ABC Store right in the hotel, where you can buy just about anything. I compared prices, and they weren't much different from outside the hotel. There's also a cookie shop where you can sample before buying. They offer local specialties, perfect for souvenirs. **Friday Fireworks:** There are fireworks on Friday night. While simple and short, watching them from the beach is still very enjoyable. They start at 7:45 PM, so go early to the beach by the lagoon island to get a front-row spot for a clearer view. **Tips:** Keep the small card you receive at check-in handy; you can use it to get free towels on the beach. If you have kids, definitely take them to the children's pool next to the Rainbow Tower. It has three waterslides and two small hot spring pools – kids can play there all day."
