"This hotel may be a love hotel and a little far off the normal track but I honestly couldn't recommend a better hotel. It's - cheap, well maintained, the staff are nice, rooms are huge and so many cheap amenities"
"Excellent room, neat and clean. They got everything you need in the self serve counter, facial cleanser, toner, you name it they have it. Big bath tub and super comfy bed. Extraordinarily buffet breakfast and good position, right next to Nara station. One more thing to mention is their services, better than any other place."
"Apart from the room being a bit on the small side, everything else was excellent. This is a hot spring hotel where guests wear provided robes/yukata and remove their shoes. It's very baby-friendly: they offered a set of baby clothes and toiletries, and high chairs were available in the dining area. Dinner consisted of soy sauce noodles and drinks. Breakfast was generous, featuring a variety of Nara specialties served in many small dishes. The hot springs are located on the first floor, with separate facilities for men and women. Indoors, there are warm and cold pools, and outdoors, there's an open-air bath, along with a sauna. Showers are available after your soak. It's advised that infants and young children avoid the very hot or very cold springs; a simple shower is sufficient for them. Outside the onsen, you can enjoy popsicles and read manga, which kids will particularly enjoy."
"This is a great choice for solo travelers. It's located on Nara's main street, perfectly situated between Kintetsu Nara Station and JR Nara Station, offering easy access to all the major sights. There are numerous dining options nearby, and I'd advise against eating at the hotel as the prices are quite high. It's excellent for an overnight stay and provides great value for money. Although the rooms are small, they're well-equipped, and you can even take a bath to relax and wash away the day's tiredness. The view is alright. If you're after luxury, there are plenty of 4- and 5-star hotels in the area."
"It's very comfortable as its name. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have Laundromat coined machines plus driers on 5th floor. It's very convenient. However, the breakfast is almost totally the same. I stayed there 4 nights. They changed a few menus. If you don't mind, you can get some meal box from AEON supermarket at JR Nara station and warm it with the microwave at the hotel. That's fine."
"Very good hotel, reasonable price, and the best location because it's connected to JR Nara station. After leaving from JR Nara station gate, you can directly walk to 2nd floor of this hotel, it's the best location. This hotel has very good arrangements, good facilities. This hotel provides pajamas, comb, cotton bud, toothbrush for picking up at front of lift. This hotel is very clean.. All facilities in the room has everything, i really enjoy staying in this hotel."
"This place was so cute and excellent. Staff didn't speak much English, but we were able to communicate easily enough. Room was Japanese Ryokan style. Tatami mats, low table. It had everything needed, shower and toilet in the room too. There is also an onsen that you can reserve for your private use. I asked for a time later at night and they still had one spot available. If you can't get a time then it is ”public use” after 22:00, which seems to mean that you might need to share if others want to join. Location was very good, right in the middle of the historic part of town and a short walk (<5 min) to Nara park to see the deer. Hotel was very nice and clean. I was here in late December and the air conditioning heater in the room was very good too."
"The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, including the bedding. While the room was well-equipped, some facilities felt a bit dated. However, both the interior and exterior of the building exuded an aristocratic grandeur. The front desk staff were incredibly polite, professional, and went above and beyond to help guests with any issues. The hot spring had specific operating hours, and unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to experience it, which was a slight disappointment."
"The room was small, but spotlessly clean and well-maintained, equipped with all the necessary amenities. The breakfast selection was quite varied, and the service was attentive and courteous. A good hotel overall."
"Hotel Nikko truly lives up to its reputation as a renowned Japanese hotel chain. Hotel Nikko Nara is ideally located right at the exit of JR Nara Station. With bus terminals (both north and south plazas) conveniently situated just outside, it offers exceptional ease of access to Nara Park and other major attractions. The hotel's service attitude was also outstanding. Immediately upon check-in, a kind staff member from the hotel lounge noticed we had a child with us and thoughtfully prepared two different flavored juices and cookies for us to take to our room. It was such a considerate gesture to help tide us over! After returning to the hotel from our outing, we were pleasantly surprised to find our clothes and toys neatly organized and even arranged adorably. They truly went the extra mile!"

Amazing
쉬쉬고싶어요1. There is nothing to complain about. The location, food, room condition, amenities, interior, etc. were all perfect.
2. The staff were especially friendly.
3. The pond view room faces west, so if you don't open the blinds, it can get hot in the summer because of the sunlight.
4. Due to hotel circumstances, luggage storage was only available until 12 o'clock on the day of check-out, but I wish they had posted this in advance on the website.
GGuest UserOverall, the hotel is new and looks very nice. For family traveling, it is not very convenient, especially if you have strollers as there are places without ramps, only stairs.
There is not much amenities you can use in the property without paying extra. With such a high room price, you would expect more.
The location is very close to the Nara park and you can see deers inside the property.
The included breakfast can be better, I don’t think the portion is enough, but they do provide rice if you need more.
GGuest UserGood service and Nice breakfast,I appreciate the front desk staff Mone, the staff (male), and the restaurant staff! They are very helpful. First, We missed the shuttle bus at first day about 3:01pm, he saw the bus just had gone and he ran to catch and stopped it. Then we got up late at the second day, the last order should be 9:30pm.but we forgot the time, they still let us to take the breakfast. Last , Mone always keep her smiling face to help booking the taxi and packing our gift, and also introducing the surrounding scenic spot. Thank you so much!
Yyounuo12Excellent stay! The room was noticeably larger than our previous one in Kyoto, and the hallways were very spacious. Everything was immaculately clean, offering fantastic value for money. The hotel's location near Nara Park was a huge bonus; we spotted deer just a short walk away. For dining and essentials, the surrounding area was incredibly convenient, with plenty of eateries nearby and several convenience stores and a supermarket directly across the street. We had a truly pleasant night! Highly recommended!
GGuest UserExceeded expections on all grounds! I am so happy with the hotel I wanted to spread the word. This hotel has great old world charm and more. I was a little worried about the condition of the hotel (more than 100 years old!) but everything was fine. I stayed at the Main Wing / basic room with park view. The bathroom was basic (business hotel like) but very clean, but the room / bedding and the view at our window was wonderful. Given the low price point, we were very happy with the room. Definitely recommend the Main Wing, and if you can, a room with higher price point.
All staff, from shuttle bus / concierge / front desk / bar, are excellent. We really enjoyed the check in process - you can sit at the lounge admiring Einstein's piano while the front staff comes calling your name. Also try the tea lounge both during the day and night (turns to a bar). I would also like to extend special thanks to Korean speaking front manager Lee Su Jin who helped us in so many ways. She really made our stay comfortable.
One thing to note about Nara city itself is that most venues close at 4pm and have unpredictable operating hours. You can't just walk around hoping to sit down at a cafe or restaurant. Highly recommend making reservations in advance of your trip and I'm sure Nara hotel concierge can help with this.
I really enjoyed Nara Hotel and look really forward to returning.
MM16077****The room was a good size and offered excellent value for money. An ice machine was also available. I particularly liked the separated bathroom setup, with the sink located outside the main wet area, making it very convenient for simultaneous use. An interesting detail was the small curtain separating the entryway from the main room. Dining and shopping options are conveniently located nearby, and local prices are fair. The entire stay was self-service, requiring no human assistance, which likely explains the affordable pricing.
Wwee teeBooked this hotel through Trip which was a godsend. The hotel that I booked through ******* was screwed up big time by ******* because the hotel didn't receive the reservation apparently. ******* was not helpful with the relocation (even thought there were availability at other hotels), claiming the hotel class are different from the one I booked. Anyways this hotel is convenient and clean, only thing that I disliked was the site mentioned double bed BUT only can accommodate 1 person!? Ended we have to pay additional ¥3k for the 3rd person (my youngest daughter) for 2 rooms. 1 room for myself and the other for both daughters because the manager was adamant about the 1 room per person, however after paying the additional ¥3k he was ok with 2 persons in a room. Didn't make sense unless I was explained it is some government regulations to allow only 1 double bed room for 1 person
GGuest UserThis hotel is exactly something what we expected to experience with a Japanese style room and hot spring. We chose Japanese style room which was spacious enough for 3 guests. Hotel fee already included Japanese dinner served inside room and breakfast (Japanese or American) served in their restaurant. Hot spring is available from 4pm-11pm, however, no morning session is available which a bit disappointed us. Hot spring area is not big, it is more enjoyable when there are only 2-3 guest in the pool.
Hotel location is good, only about 6 mins walk from Kintetsu Nara station. The only bad thing was NO elevator or escalator from the station up to ground floor exit. All other main tourist attractions are within walkable distance.
LLindsayIt’s a really lovely old Japanese house, but it’s really not been made over into a guest house at all.
1. There are pictures of a bath. It is not in the hotel it is just a separate public bath you have to pay for…
2. They charge for everything including “renting” towels and yukata
3. No noise blocking at all and kids are allowed. It sounds like they are in your room
4. Contactless check in doesn’t feel very safe
GGuest UserFirst of all, the service staff is warm and thoughtful, and the attitude is amiable! Tell the precautions, the hotel is clean and hygienic, and the quilt is covered by yourself. The bathroom in the bath is particularly clean. Every guest is very conscious. Try to control yourself and not disturb others. It is really great!
