AAlina0115This time, my sister and I visited Suzhou again and booked this hotel 🏨. We stayed here last year, and both the environment and service were excellent! So, we chose to stay here again. The hotel 🏨 is conveniently located right on Pingjiang Road. After checking in, you also get two complimentary tickets to a Pingtan teahouse 🆓. Last time, we had a king-size room, and this time we got a twin room. There's even a rocking chair in the room that my sister found so comfortable she didn't want to go out sightseeing! The hotel 🏨 room rate includes breakfast, and both the braised pork noodles and braised beef noodles were delicious. After breakfast, we took a nice stroll along Pingjiang Road!

GGuest UserI specifically chose the Kimpton Bamboo Grove to experience the charm of old Suzhou. This hotel, a refreshed version of the old Bamboo Grove Hotel, perfectly balances ancient city memories with modern luxury, and it was the biggest surprise of my trip. The hotel is rooted in the heart of Suzhou's old city. Instead of trying to create trendy internet-famous backdrops, it incorporates the essence of Suzhou gardens into its architecture. White walls, bamboo shadows, and rockeries with flowing water unfold gracefully along the corridors. Strolling through feels like stumbling upon a hidden private estate nestled in a bustling area, free from the noise of tourist spots, offering only the relaxed, authentic vibe of local life.
The balcony room I stayed in was bright and spacious. The interior design was understated and luxurious, with a Sealy mattress, Dyson hairdryer, and a separate makeup mirror all provided. The open-plan marble bathroom with a scenic window allowed me to enjoy the courtyard and pond while bathing. My butler, Cherry, was always available on WeChat, and all my small requests were promptly addressed. What impressed me most was the local culture subtly woven into the hotel's details: authentic Suzhou noodles for breakfast, freshly opened sweet coconuts, and gentle Pingtan performances in the courtyard during the evenings. The first round of drinks in the minibar was complimentary. Canglang Pavilion and Pingjiang Road are within walking distance, and the streets lined with old plane trees exude a vibrant local atmosphere. With its historical charm, attentive service, and a healing garden setting, it's perfect for both vacations and short stays. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit Suzhou.
Jjwc209This stay was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff greeted me with such warm and genuine smiles, making me feel right at home.
The location couldn't be better – the hotel is right next to the famous pedestrian street. Just a few steps out the door, and you're in a bustling commercial area with charming alleys. It was incredibly convenient for shopping, trying local food, and taking photos. Evenings were perfect for a stroll, soaking in the city's vibrant atmosphere.
The room itself was a pleasant surprise – spacious and bright, with clean, soft bedding. The decor was simple yet comfortable, and the view from the window was lovely. After a long day of exploring, it was the perfect place to unwind and relax.
I also really appreciated the free coffee available all day in the lobby. It was rich and warm, and a cup in the morning before heading out was such a treat.
What touched me the most was at check-out, the hotel even prepared a thoughtful parting gift. It was a small gesture, but it truly showed their care and put a perfect ending to my entire trip.
Next time I visit this city, this will definitely be my top choice, and I'll highly recommend it to all my friends!

WWorld wonders 探险者Nestled in the heart of a picturesque landmark, this guesthouse offers stunning views of Pingjiang Road at night. There's a cat café right across the street, which is a lovely touch. The breakfast spread is generous, and you can even do your laundry for free. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making this a fantastic choice for your stay.

GGuest UserAn absolutely wonderful experience! If you're coming to Suzhou, staying in a garden-style setting is a must. This hotel is a conversion of a 300-year-old house. While the building is old, all the facilities are incredibly modern, including a gym, pool, and even Dyson hair dryers. It's just a bridge away from Pingjiang Road, so you can enjoy the bustling lights on one side while having your own tranquil oasis on the other (the courtyard rooms are behind the wall you see in the video). The hotel breakfast is excellent, a semi-buffet of Chinese and Western small plates, complemented by your choice of a Chinese or Western main course. The breakfast noodles are especially delicious, served with fresh water chestnuts and shrimp. I particularly want to commend the hotel's service; it was truly warm and welcoming.
The hotel is a convenient 20-minute walk (or 5-minute bike ride) to Suzhou Museum, Humble Administrator's Garden, and Lion Grove Garden. Ou Garden is a 10-minute walk. Wangshi Garden is a bit further, about a 15-minute bike ride. I'd recommend getting a joint ticket for the first three gardens, which is valid for three days. There are also some fantastic restaurants nearby, and both Pingjiangfu and Jinhaihua are within walking distance. If your budget allows, definitely go for the Songmaoju Suite – it's a private house with its own courtyard, so you won't have to worry about footsteps from above or noise from the shared courtyard. They also have smaller standard rooms to suit various budgets. A small heads-up: one wall of the courtyard rooms faces Pingjiang Road, so it can be a bit noisy during the day, but don't worry, it's very quiet at night.
Just a minor suggestion: the super-large bathroom with a bathtub, double sinks, and three separate areas is fantastic, but there's only one hook. I'd suggest adding a few more. Also, the wardrobe could use some pant hangers.

AAnonymous UserI rarely write long reviews, but this hotel, at best, is a business hotel. Don't try to market it as a family-friendly hotel when it's clearly not. Just adding a few kid activities and a small train doesn't make it one.
1. The room had absolutely no children's amenities: no kids' toothbrushes, no kids' slippers. You couldn't even install a bed rail because there was nowhere to attach it. 😂
2. The showerhead was broken, with water leaking from the side.
3. There were only two extremely high pillows. Seriously, don't standard hotels usually provide four pillows? Two high, two low? I ended up having to sleep with clothes propped under my head.
4. The front desk staff (the guy with glasses) during both check-in and check-out had the same unhelpful attitude as a budget hotel chain's front desk. In fact, a budget hotel might even be more welcoming. If you don't want to work during the May Day holiday, just switch shifts! 😠
5. The housekeeping auntie definitely hasn't been trained. She was pushing a huge mattress and nearly hit a child while turning a corner.
The only positive feedback I have is for the kind female front desk staff member who enthusiastically helped me find my lost ID card.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel boasts a new Chinese style blended with modern luxury, incorporating elements like garden moon gates and traditional青瓦石墙 (blue tile and stone walls) into its decor. The lobby features a charming江南庭院 (Jiangnan-style courtyard) with flowing water. Rooms have panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, offering plenty of natural light. My room even had a view of the Gate of the Orient! All rooms come standard with Sealy mattresses, luxury toiletries (the kind you'd find in a star-rated hotel), and complimentary daily tea and coffee. It's perfect for families or friends traveling together. They also have oversized suites with outdoor patios offering unobstructed views of Suzhou's old town.
LLvxiaocaiThe location is truly fantastic, right on Pingjiang Road. You step out and you're immediately in the scenic area, where you can stroll endlessly. The surrounding views are absolutely beautiful. Pingjiang Road indeed embodies half of Suzhou city, living up to its reputation. It's also very close to the Humble Administrator's Garden and Lion Grove Garden. Inside, there are many places offering makeup and styling services, whether you're looking to wear Hanfu or a Qipao. The hotel facilities are quite good too, and the bed is very comfortable. If you enjoy staying within a scenic area, I highly recommend this place. Plus, the owner recommended a Suzhou-style noodle shop to us, which tasted great and served small portions, allowing us to try many different dishes – and it's even a Michelin-starred restaurant!

SStanley The Travel ManI arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner. I didn’t and still don’t have an eSIM that can make local call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free. I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands. I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.
I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop to Suzhou which was my next destination.
This operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.
After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge . If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass. Do check with the owner for up to date information.
The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.
Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. . There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy. It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances.
The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.
This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.
I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.

GGuest UserHaha, I found a bargain. The check-in experience was great! The front desk staff is warm and thoughtful, the room is clean and tidy, the bedding is comfortable, the breakfast is rich in variety, and the location is very convenient. Highly recommended!
