"Totally avoid this place unless you have a toddler that can deal with chaos. It’s just so busy, the buffet is carnage, kids and food everywhere. Hands going strait in food, there were no parents or staff supervising and just total chaos. Nothing for older kids to do when it rains or on an evening other than the nets to play in for a bit: there are PlayStations but multiple kids trying to use them. This is the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in and really wouldn’t pay half the price for it. Flaking paint in rooms. Nothing for grown ups in the evening, very much a kids hotel which we didn’t appreciate when booking. Hoping tomorrow is a better day. :("

"We stayed in a moblie home ,while it was nice there where a few things I found a let down for what you pay, the cleaning of the homes is pretty awful they get a quick once over I guess before guests arrive, no daily cleaning,the swimming pool is so over crowded in the 7days there I did not see one life guard, having to pay for a sun lounger 7 euros a day is just ridiculous, there is no first aid or doctor on site my daughter fell and slit her head open there was not one person on site to help even when I asked at reception I was told there was no one .a gym would also be a great add on to the site.."

"Beautiful village in Rovinj directly on the enchanting crystalline Istrian sea. The village is made up of many large villas with an outdoor garden furnished with a table and deck chairs. The lavender in the garden is beautiful. The villas are large and have everything you need: air conditioning, a super-equipped kitchen even if they have slightly dated furniture. In the village there is a beautiful swimming pool with slides, a bridge, a children's area and a bar. There are also 3 restaurants and an area dedicated to evening shows. We almost always ate at the Basilico restaurant, excellent. There are entertainment activities already included in the price and many sports to practice for a fee. The village is pet friendly. The only flaw: ants in the room but we called the staff who, even though it was late in the evening, came immediately to solve the problem. Beautiful holiday, I would go back immediately!"

"I don't often leave reviews, but I felt compelled to pass on our gratitude to the hotel. We have been to Hotel Istra 7 times now - the reason we return is there's nowhere in the world like it. We've travelled a lot but Hotel Istra feels like a home from home. Recently the hotel has been thoughtfully refurbished, with consideration given to impactful, and helpful improvements - not just superficial change. The rooms have been redecorated, but touches like complimentary nappies in baby changing areas, security gates on pool areas, entertainment like pool basketball, refurbished children's play area and pools, and wristband room keys all made the stay smoother and more enjoyable. The location is second to none, and we were apprehensive to go in August in case it was really busy - but it was so well managed and now our favourite time of year to visit. There's so much to do, from walking around the adjoining wooded island, snorkelling, paddleboarding, inflatable watersports, rock pooling, spa. We're already planning our next visit as there was more things we'd love to try (even after 7 years!). Each experience changes and offers something new as our son gets grows up. Thank you Maistra for our best trip yet. Our only small comment would be that we couldn’t understand why guests aren’t able to board the ferry at the first arrival point on the dock (the hotel side) to cross over to the city side. It’s quite a long walk around the harbour, particularly in the heat with a young child. It would be really useful if this could be offered as an option, especially for guests wanting to visit the supermarket and carry heavier bags back, or simply to get to the city side more easily."

"This is well equipped as a children's play hotel, ideal for young children and parents. However there are no real facilities or comfortable areas for adults, especially at this time of year. Neither are there many comfortable areas for families of differing ages to relax together and chat. The feel of the hotel is similar to living within a children's nursery facility. It does that really well. Transport out of the resort into the town is limited. Prior to 30th September there is an occasional free bus, a chargeable land train & chargeable boat. After that there is no free bus and no boat. The land train is also mainly full, leaving a taxi the only option at €20 one way. This was not made clear to us at the time of booking, or even on 30th September whilst in the resort, which was annoying. At the end of September various services at the hotel were reduced and advance notice of this would have been beneficial. Generally the service was just about ok, not especially helpful or friendly. The quality of the food is fresh and good, if rather repetitive. There is 1 child friendly bar area and the dining experience is chaotic and whilst totally child friendly is also disappointing if you are expecting a more usual adult or family mealtime. There was no evidence of any la carte restaurants. The hotel is very clean and well kept, in extensive grounds with two pebble beaches. There are various swimming pools indoor and out, catering for all ages and abilities that are attractive and well maintained."
