Experience a different journey in the dreamy Huizhou! (Complete Guide) ||| Huizhou is named after Huixi and Huiling in Jixi County, where 'Hui' traditionally means something beautiful, hence the name 😃. This journey to explore Huizhou starts from Shexian County, the seat of Huizhou Prefecture. Wander through the ancient city of Huizhou, visit the Xin'an River, head to Jixi, step onto the ancient Huizhou-Hangzhou trail, and traverse Anhui and Zhejiang in search of the dreamy Huizhou 🎉! The itinerary spans three days and two nights, and can be easily completed using public transportation, which is quite convenient 😎. The following route is just for reference: **Day1**: Arrive at Shexian North Station by high-speed train 🚄, visit the Huishang Mansion (the mansion is on the other side of the river, so we went there first, the ticket is not cheap 💰80 yuan, the architecture and furnishings have a long history, but it's quite disorganized and hard to understand without a guide, not highly recommended 😔) ➡️ Ancient City of Huizhou (city tower, Qiaolou, Xu Guo Archway—Huizhou Museum—check in at the Fanghua County Committee Courtyard) ➡️ Yuliang Ancient Town, Yuliang Dam (feels great to stroll in the evening, walking along the river, the ancient town has no entrance fee and is not commercialized 🎈) ➡️ Night tour of the Ancient City of Huizhou 🎇 **ps**: These attractions are not far from each other, reachable by walking or riding a shared electric bike 🛵. The ancient city of Huizhou also serves as a pedestrian street to some extent, which may give a sense of commercialization, but it's lively at night with many people dancing in the square, and there are plenty of food and drink options 😋; the city tower and museum are worth visiting 🤗. **Day2**: Breakfast at the famous Tiger Stove snacks in the ancient city of Huizhou, tastes good 👍 ➡️ Xin'an River Landscape Gallery (take a minibus or bus 938 from Shexian Hotel/Shexian Square to Shendu, minibus 💰10 yuan, bus 💰6 yuan, there's a bus at 8:50, get there early to catch the 10:30 boat tour of the Landscape Gallery, the next one isn't until noon, tour lasts 3h, the scenery on both sides of the river is nice, but the water was yellowish due to several days of rain when I went, usually it should be even more beautiful 😉. After the tour, wait for the minibus or bus at the drop-off roundabout, about 1h intervals, get off at Shexian Square, then take the bus to Shexian North Station, buy a high-speed train ticket 💰9 yuan to reach Jixi North Station) ➡️ Jixi County Museum (nice architectural design but the exhibits are average 😕) **ps**: You can choose to stay in Jixi County or Longchuan scenic area, the last bus to Longchuan is around five o'clock, a taxi costs about forty yuan 🚕, Longchuan scenic area doesn't charge an entrance fee after 5 pm, but you can't enter the ancestral halls 😔. Although it's rated 5A, it's not very big, I missed the last bus and didn't make it to Longchuan 🤣 **Day3**: Huizhou-Hangzhou Ancient Trail, about 12 kilometers one way, not very difficult 😎. The downside of self-driving or independent travel is the need for a return trip. The essence of the trail is near the entrance in Anhui, you can walk from Jiangnan's First Pass - Shi Cha Pavilion to Xiaxue Hall and then return, about 12km. If you have more stamina, you can walk to Lantian Ao and back, about 18km, there's not much to see from Lantian Ao to Yonglai Village 😯. Take bus 601 or 602 from the county town or Longchuan Village to the Huizhou-Hangzhou Ancient Trail, and for the return trip, take bus 602 across the street from the scenic area parking lot or bus 601 at the parking lot entrance, there's one at 4:30 and another after five o'clock, from Anhui entrance to Yonglai Village it takes about 4 and a half hours one way, if going to Lantian Ao it's about three and a half hours one way 😁.
