Welcome to charming Montenegro!
Montenegro, once listed in Lonely Planet's 'Top 10 Travel Destinations of 2016', is referred to as 'the next Morocco'. Although Montenegro is still a niche market in China, due to policy and international relations, it is becoming one of the hottest travel destinations.
This country, home to Europe's deepest Tara River Canyon, the Balkans' largest Skadar Lake, the southernmost Bay of Kotor in Europe, the azure Mediterranean coastline, and several UNESCO World Heritage Sites for natural and cultural heritage, is attracting an increasing number of Chinese tourists.
Kotor Old Town...
Located at the foot of Mount Lovćen, the old city of Kotor is said to have been inhabited since the 1st century BC.
Unlike the cities or towns of today, which were built by settlers who voluntarily established their homes and buildings, it resulted in narrow, winding, and irregular streets with asymmetrical and bumpy squares.
There's also an interesting story that the names of the squares were named after products related to the place, such as salad, flour, milk, etc.
With the establishment of the Dominican and Franciscan monasteries in the 13th century, it is said that there were about 50 churches within the old city until the 20th century, but most of them have disappeared due to four major earthquakes and have reached today..
It was very nice because it has a more classic(?) charm compared to other European old towns.
Montenegro... A small fortress state..
Montenegro is bordered by Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north, Serbia and Kosovo to the east, and Albania to the south.
And it is also a coastal country with a beautiful 293.5 km long Adriatic coastline.
Among them, the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska) is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean.
The majority of the country is made up of high plateaus and mountains, with numerous deep valleys and gorges intersecting.
In the southern regions near the coastline, you can see lowlands.
It's not too far from Dubrovnik, so it's not a bad idea to come for a day trip.
Make sure to stop by...

The magnificent Kotor Fortress 🏰
#timetotravel
The Kotor Fortress, perched atop the rugged hills overlooking the picturesque town of Kotor in Montenegro, is a historical marvel that took my breath away. My climb to the fortress was a journey through time and nature.
As I ascended the stone-paved trail, surrounded by ancient walls and fortified gates, I marveled at the craftsmanship that had gone into creating this medieval stronghold. The views of Kotor Bay and the surrounding mountains grew more spectacular with each step.
Reaching the summit, I was rewarded with a panoramic vista that felt like a reward for my efforts. The town of Kotor, with its terracotta rooftops and cobblestone streets, lay below me like a living painting.
Exploring the well-preserved fortress walls and cannons added a sense of adventure. The historical significance of this site, combined with its natural beauty, made my visit to the Kotor Fortress an unforgettable experience that connected me with the past and the stunning Montenegrin landscape. #montenegro #kotor
