Xiang River Walking 🇨🇳 Changsha
Changsha is such a nice city to visit. The people are friendly, the food tastes great and there are so many places to walk.
Most mornings and evenings we would walk down the river front prominade, enjoy the cities bright lights and clean walkways.
There are lots of attractions on the river front, but the prominade itself is perfect for an after dinner slow walk back to your hotel or for a late night whisky or cocktail. It was illuminated until late.
I'll head back to Changsha again in the future and I'll make sure I've got a riverside location even if it means being a little further out if the centre.

Is it worth it to take a night cruise on the Xiang River in Changsha?
I went to Changsha and took the night cruise on the Xiang River that very evening. To be honest, I personally don't think it's very worthwhile! The price is a bit expensive, and there's always a queue! However, for those who are visiting Changsha for the first time and want to check out Orange Isle, it's still worth experiencing. After all, I refuse to go to Orange Isle in such hot weather during the day, haha, just sharing my itinerary with everyone~
🛳️Travel Tips:
Night cruise times: 19:00-19:30-20:30-21:00
Route: Orange Isle Wharf→Statue of Mao Zedong at Orange Isle→Du Fu Pavilion→Wanda Plaza→Fisherman's Wharf→Orange Isle Wharf
(I personally recommend the 20:30 slot, as it's completely dark by then, and the main attraction of the night cruise is the lights and night view~ The whole journey lasts about an hour, and if you go at 21:00, it ends quite late)
🎫Ticket purchase: 💰180 RMB per person, sisters who want to go should try to buy tickets 1-2 days in advance, as it's very likely you won't be able to get them on the day!
Note: The night cruise ticket includes the Orange Isle train ticket.
Specific itinerary:
Be sure to arrive at least half an hour in advance, as you need to take the train to the wharf where you board the ship! Otherwise, you won't make it! If you have plenty of time, it's best to arrive an hour early, so you can take the train leisurely and enjoy Orange Isle in the evening~
📍Transportation: You can take Metro Line 2 to 'Orange Isle' station, and following the crowd when you exit the station is basically correct
📍Ticket collection: Note that if you purchase tickets online, you can directly scan the electronic code to take the train and board the ship! There's no need to exchange tickets at the window!!! Silly me queued for a long time...
📍Taking the train: Walk inside from the ticket exchange, where you queue for the train. After boarding the train, move forward, and the staff will remind you where to get off for the cruise ship wharf;
📍Boarding: Queue for boarding, the ship has 3 levels, the first level is indoors (viewing outside through glass windows) but has seats and air conditioning~ The second floor is a small platform, but personally, I think the smell of gasoline is quite strong; the third floor is a more open platform.
⭐️I suggest everyone first take pictures of the night view on the third floor, then go back to the first floor to find a seat and rest~ There are performances downstairs~~.
💥Pitfall to avoid: The best area on the third floor is cordoned off, and you have to pay to enter, with seats, mineral water, and some snacks provided, the price is about 200 RMB for 3-4 people (we didn't buy, not sure), which feels quite expensive, and the staff's attitude is very bad!!!
Overall feeling:
The night view is just that, a view of the lights at night, and you can see it without taking the cruise!!! On the contrary, I feel that just taking the train around Orange Isle is quite a good deal~
Actually, Changsha is a famous seaside city
The water of the Xiang River on a good day is as blue as the sea, and it's often joked about 'seeing the sea in Changsha', which I truly enjoy. I love walking along the river, taking photos, and watching the sunsets. Between the north and south of the Xiang River, within a ten-kilometer stretch, I've watched countless sunsets, many of which have healed me.
The fresh greenery at the end of March, the warm sunshine, the clear river water, and me taking photos, everything is very nice.
In 2018-2019, I often walked along this riverside road with friends, sometimes sitting on the steps to watch people fish, sometimes lying on the grass at Orange Isle to catch a sunset, and sometimes walking to Wuyi Square to the south gate to have a delicious meal. I remember once after eating, I looked up just in time to see the fireworks over Orange Isle, which was really beautiful.
This year, I will also spend more time walking by the river and watching sunsets.

Blue River Golden Skies
Changsha has a wide wide blue river where people bath and enjoy sunrays! Forgot the name of the river🤦🏼♀️#gooutside
Xiangjiang River is the mother river of Changsha. The large and small sand rafts are frequent on the Xiangjiang River. They float in the heart of the river. The Xiangjiang River Bridge in Lingbo traverses things. It is also very pleasant to feel the river breeze from the bridge. The beautiful scenery of the Xiangjiang River has an atmosphere of Changsha’s most popular city. Some people say that Xiangjiang is a business port of Changsha. The Yangtze River is extensive, the Yellow River flows slowly, and the Xiangjiang River is not fast or slow. Strolling along the banks of the Xiangjiang River, although there is no such uniqueness about this place, but it is a very relaxing place. It is clearly in the temperature of 38 degrees in Changsha, under the shade of the Xiangjiang River view, but it is unusually cold. Opening hours: all day; Tickets: free
