Many things were great about this hotel - I stayed in the dorm for 10 nights and you're basically getting hotel level service and amenities for dorm price, very value for money. New towels provided everyday, library and lounge were great (free alcohol and snacks, plus lovely hammocks and view of the lake), onsen was a good size with indoor and outdoor pools.
The one thing I didn't like was the material they used to construct the dorm capsules - thin wood that was very hollow, resulting in a deafening amplification of sound whenever your neighbours moved around you. If you're a light sleeper you might want to reconsider.
But otherwise, it was awesome, I would go back again!
An affordable hotel with its own small onsen. In the evenings, I always had it to myself, which was wonderful! The hotel might not be brand new, but the room was fully equipped with everything I needed – a kettle, a fridge, and a hairdryer. It's located a 15-minute walk from the station, which I didn't find inconvenient at all. I traveled to Nikko every day, using my all-area Free Pass, and the journey, with one transfer, took about 1 to 1.5 hours. For this price, only hostels were available in Nikko. But here, I got a proper hotel with spacious rooms.
It is far from Tobu Niko station and relatively close to the main attractions. Of the pluses, two private onsens can be accommodated in two or three. One is laid out with a tile, the other is stone (used by a great demand, understandable case). If you take the onsen, no one will enter it anymore. To let the guests know whether the onsen is free and which special signal lamps are made, it is convenient. The Onsens work from 16 to 23 hours, so it is impossible to get down in the morning. Like I think, the water is cold and the rooms are closed - I love outdoors.
The breakfast was unexpected, but they are fed exclusively with different baking (for a long time, so many tests have not eaten). It is also possible to buy frozen dishes for cheap and immediately distribute them in a microwave.
In the bathroom and toilet room, the yucata is issued on demand.
A beautiful living room where you can sit in the evening (if not too many guests). Here, where to sit in the street evening, it is not very clear, because near the Onsens there is a smoke zone with shops, but there is not a very nice smell.
We booked a local Japanese B&B on short notice. The decor was a bit dated, with a British style and an artificial hot spring facility. The owner was very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. Overall, it exceeded our expectations.
The hotel is very good, recommended by Japanese customers. It is very convenient for travel and to the customer's factory. The room is clean and tidy. Although small, it has everything. I will consider staying here again when I go on business trips in the future.
Very traditional Japanese Onsen hotel, enriched with lots of traditional Paintings, decorations and calligraphy. It is built within a valley and quiet garden, and my rooms are facing the garden with colorful marple leaves during the late autumn. They served very nice and well presented traditional Japanese foods in the evening and with an English speaking lady serving me with introductions of each kinds of food they served. It’s a very good experience, really enjoying the Japanese cuisine and their hospitality.
We spent three wonderful nights here. The host is very kind and attentive, cooks an excellent breakfast (which he can make vegetarian if needed), and offers a shuttle service to the city center included in the reservation.
The rooms are very clean, spacious, and well-equipped.
To top it all off, you can even enjoy one of the many private hot tubs.
In short, I would have gladly given it a sixth star if I could!
The location is really good. 10 mins away from the station. Easy to find. Big hotel, about 11 floors. The room is quite spacious, part in western style with beds and part in japaneese with tatamis. There is sink in themiddle of the room, quite comfy. Good view to the mountain and forest from the window, 9th floor. Nice yukata to wear, i liked the outerpart. Breakfast and dinner is buffet, quite big choice, free beer for dinner, not so many fruits, no cakes for breakfast (dinner only). There is sushi and sashimi choice, delicious food. Onsen is quite good, clean, big. Will recommend to stay here
I stayed in a deluxe double room, and it was quiet, big, and clean~ Hair dryers and irons were also prepared for women to use. The breakfast restaurant is not a buffet, but a set menu where you can choose one of three types. I ate grilled salmon for breakfast, but it was too salty, and the side dishes were generally very salty. ㅠ Next time I use it, I plan to skip the breakfast and just stay there~
This was my first time for staying in ryokan. This ryokan has such a delight, warming services and very nice hotel staffs. Although I can not speak japanese, the language did not bring me any problems because we could use google translate and some of the innkeeper can speak English. I felt like I stay in my home and very enjoyed interacting with both hotel staffs and shiobara people. Besides, foods there were so delicious.
- traditional japanese food: they wrote a welcome note and descriptions of food in paper (in japanese) eg. Fish came from river beside hotel, everything was from local which I really really love it.
- local venison(deer meat): must try yakiniku
If you wanna avoid chaotic environment in the city, I would reccommend this place because you would feel a part of nature (natural sound is so nice) and you can find a true calm of your soul.
We were very surprised because we were only foreigner tourist in the hotel.
Thank you innkeeper and staff for caring us. We always miss there when we come back to busy city!

GGuest UserApart from having a vegetarian dinner and breakfast for no apparent reason, the hot spring hotel was pretty good overall.
But who wants to eat vegetarian food in a hot spring hotel... After returning, I contacted the Ctrip platform to ask the reason, whether it was a problem with the agent's order or the hotel's problem. The feedback speed was very fast. I made several calls in two days to report the progress and was willing to bear part of the refund, but I never told you the reason we wanted to know. What was the problem?

玩玩转星球-KevinThe most important buffet dinner during the stay was served very late, and the dishes were often empty, which is very rare in Japan.
Because it was less than 700 yuan and included two meals, although the hotel had many flaws, it was understandable, but the faucet in the room seemed to be broken, and the water flow was not smooth, which should be replaced.
Overall, this room was acceptable.

GGuest UserThe staff were so incredibly helpful and assisted us with booking taxis and making a reservation for a boat tour in Kinugawa that required them to call by phone. Lovely large comfortable bed and great shower. Within walking distance of Shinkyō bridge and Tobu-Nikko station (30 minutes).
JJCtravellerThe hotel is equipped with an open air parking block of around 15 spaces, which I assume it's first come
first serve basis. When we arrived on a monday night (Mid august) around 9pm to check in there was only one parking space left.
Check in -and out are done in a compartment next to the parking spaces, self serviced on a tablet with quite a few language options (english, chinese....).
Our room was spacious and even came equipped with a projector (poppin Alladin) which the kids enjoyed for watching movies.
There was a laundry machine inside the room, with laundry detergent provided, and drying rack.
Enough clean towels were provided for our family during the stay so we did not need to wash the towels.
However as there was no in room housekeeping service, the litter processing was done by ourselves (perhaps the only inconvenience we found in living in this motel).
LLeoThis appears to be a new hotel only 11 minutes walk from the train station. It was probably the tallest building in town. The room was very clean as well as the facilities. We arrived at 2:00 and were hoping they would let us check in early but we could only check in, but had to wait until 3:00 to go to the room. They made others wait as well. They did have free alcohol from 6:00-9:00pm in the lobby. The breakfast was okay but not much variety. The room was nice, but probably the smallest I have stayed in while in Japan. It was a quick train ride to Ashikaga Flower Park which was nice since that was the reason we came here. The bed wasn’t soft but it wasn’t terribly hard either. Over all, a decent place to stay except for the size of the room.
