Le Chao Ju Inn (Huayan Temple of Datong ancient city) Reviews

This hotel is located in the heart of the ancient city of Datong. Although there were few steps of staircase leading to the entrance of the hotel and the reception was on level 2 and our room type was only available on the 3rd level. Upon check in the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo was very helpful and she helped us to carry our luggages to our room at level 3.. There was a small window in our room overseeing the street. The room was spacious and very clean. All corners, fixtures and furnitures in our room were wiped very clean. All amenities were provided inside the room too. The bed mattress and pillow were soft and very comfortable. Body gel, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, hand wash and clothing detergent were all good quality. 2 water bottles, toothbrush, hair comb and slippers were provided in the room. There were space to hang our winter clothing and also washed socks and inner wears. The air-conditioner was superb as it can be adjusted to 4 types of air:normal, wet reduction, cold air and warm air, hence it made our stay more comfortable. There was also an air freshener machine in the room to refresh the air inside the room. So far this is the cleanest hotel room throughout all my China trips. The housekeeper was friendly and ensure the room being cleaned up daily. Overall, I would like to compliment the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo for her hospitality and kindness in helping us when we asked her for any information about Datong and places to eat. Xiao Guo always smilling and her warmness has let us felt very welcomed as a hotel guest. Another compliment was to be given to the housekeeper old lady who really did a great job to ensure the cleanliness of our hotel room and the entire hotel public areas. Highly recommended this hotel to all tourist.

Great location, walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. Room was clean, no cigarette smell. Very helpful staff and easy communication via WeChat. We appreciated the private driver recommendation to visit Xuankong Temple and other sights, it was very convenient and affordable. We recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Clean accommodation. Xiao Wang at the front desk was really helpful and arranged a driver for the day to Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple, as well as advice on restaurants and general answering questions.

Excellent hotel! Great location, in the heart of the historic part of the city.. Easy to get from the southern Railway station by bus number 61. Comfortable nice room, very clean. The room has a kettle, cups, and tea bags. Girl from reception was so helpful. She has given a lot recomendation for visit attractions of Datun and has helped to find a transfer to Xuankong Si Monastery.

Very nice stay in the center Datong. Silent, big, modern room, very clean. The girl at reception could speak a little english too.

Ideal location and clean room, staff is very hospitable. Would stay here again. Only downside is that the room is not soundproof at all, so I was able to hear any conversation happening in the hallway as if the door was non-existent and probably vice versa.

The location is right at the center of the city. If you drive your own car, it might be challenging to live here as it's too central and always have traffic jam nearby. But if you are not driving then it's the perfect location. Many restaurants nearby, and a bakery right at the corner. there's also a cafe not far away, you can easily get coffee in the morning. Room is big enough for two persons. Some rooms are facing the main street, it's might getting noisy in the morning. If you mind this, make sure to send email to them in advance to check if your room is facing street...

Great place. Super helpful with the advice. They organised for us transport to the hanging temple. The tatami bedroom was super confi. Highly recommended.
