"We were very disappointed with our stay. The front desk staff were unfriendly and unhelpful throughout our visit.
Our room ran out of drinking water, and we requested more two or three times. Despite waiting the entire day, no one ever delivered it. When we went back to the front desk to ask about it, instead of offering a simple apology, the staff kept making excuses and shifting the responsibility elsewhere.
After flying for more than ten hours from the United States, we were already exhausted. We expected at least basic hospitality and understanding, but unfortunately, that was not our experience. The lack of professionalism and customer service made our stay very disappointing."

"The hotel is quite new but a bit far from the city center. The front desk staff seemed unsure about my two-night reservation and unfortunately only provided a key card for one day. When I asked if there might be other room options—perhaps not on the first floor or near the dining area, like room #4—I was told there were absolutely no alternatives. To make matters worse, no complimentary bottled water was provided on the second day. Overall, it was quite a disappointing experience."

"Good location on the south side near St Steven’s green. Nice breakfast in top floor restaurant. Small room with view of a building site next door. We stayed in the town house because it’s supposed to be quieter, further away from the disco next to the main hotel. Funny damp smell in the bathroom as there is no outside window or fan. Overall quite average for the price. "

"Frustrating Experience: Reservation Confusion

My recent stay was marred by an incredibly unprofessional check-in experience. Despite having a fully prepaid reservation, the front desk staff had absolutely no record of my booking upon arrival.
Instead of efficiently resolving the issue, the staff repeatedly insisted that I pay for the room again, despite my clear explanation and proof of prior payment. It was frustrating and exhausting to have to argue my case after a long journey. While the property may have potential, the lack of organization and poor customer service at the front desk completely soured the experience. I would strongly advise confirming your reservation multiple times before arrival or choosing a more reliable establishment."

JJunI recently stayed at the Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin and found its location on O'Connell Street to be exceptionally convenient for exploring Dublin's main attractions. The room was clean and featured a mini-fridge, which was useful for keeping drinks cool.
However, the breakfast experience was underwhelming. The selection lacked variety, and the quality didn't meet expectations. Additionally, the lobby area felt cramped during peak times, making it less inviting for relaxation.
While the hotel's central location is a significant advantage, improvements in breakfast offerings and lobby comfort would enhance the overall guest experience.

GGuest UserOur room was upgraded. It wasn't huge, but perfectly adequate, comfortable, and came with a small kitchenette and a Nespresso machine, which was great for us. There's a highly recommended bakery just around the corner to the right, and a supermarket two minutes to the left where you can buy daily necessities. Most attractions are within a 2-3 kilometer walking distance; Trinity College is only about 500 meters away, which is incredibly convenient. The front desk service was also very warm and welcoming.

SSolo traveler 0The hotel location was very close to the red line tram and several bus stops including the dublin express bus stop. It is around 20 minutes by local transportation from downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and had all you may need. The air conditioning was good. There’s a working space on the ground floor that you may use for free any time you like even after checkout till 5 pm. There’s a 24 hour reception. They offer luggage storage.

TTeacherTravelTimesI decided to ditch staying in the city centre based on my below par experiences there on my last trip. When looking on Trip.com, Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Dalkey was the same price as several dorm rooms in the city centre when I looked.
Getting there from Dublin Airport was relatively straightforward. I took and Aircoach from the airport to Dalkey/Ulverton Road and then walked for about 15 minutes. Up to the hotel entrance.
The hotel is fairly old fashioned but personally I found it very charming. The staff were well-trained in the art of hospitality, the rooms were clean, locals were in and out of the bar, restaurant and leisure centre.
Furthermore, the room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The tv had a nice range of channels and the bathroom had a working shower and an abundance of towels. One thing missing was a toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kit. I was told that you can get slippers on request as well.
Get the breakfast. It’s €16 and it’s a buffet style with a delicious selection of hot and cold food. There’s rashers, sausages, hash browns, pancakes, the works. I wish I could’ve eaten more! I loved that they had a wide range of ages working there as well. One of the staff tripped when she went to ask if everything was ok and she said ‘I’m fine, I’m falling for you!’ It was then that I knew that I was home.
The leisure centre is one of the best I’ve come across in a while. I’ve stayed in so many places where it’s literally an empty room with a few bits of old equipment but they had loads of weights, treadmills, bikes, etc. They do classes and physiotherapy as well. The pool and jacuzzi were also excellent. Plenty of ages in both as well but it wasnt overcrowded so you’ll get a few lengths in if you want.
Lastly, make sure to go for a walk about Dalkey and the surrounding areas. I spent the morning walking down to the Vico Baths, the Forty Foot (both swimming locations) and passed through Dalkey Village. Plenty of people will be out with their family and friends whether it be for a walk, bike ride, swim or a coffee and a chat. Ditch Dublin City and say yes to Dalkey!

DDaff GlezI went to the same hotel with a friend and absolutely loved it. The room was clean, and the shared bathrooms, including the showers, were also spotless. The lounge was my favorite spot because it felt so comfortable and cozy; it was our quiet place to relax after all the walking around Dublin. I adored that the reception staff tried to communicate in Spanish. On the other hand, the buffet was pretty good. I thought there might be more options, based on my experiences at other hotels in Spain, but for a simple and peaceful breakfast, it was wonderful. I also loved the garden. My friend and I are long-distance, and I met him in person at this hotel. I felt warmth and comfort there. For having met my friend there, who I'm going to miss, and for the trust the hotel gave me, even though I'm not one to share a room, I will always be eternally grateful and will never forget the place. Thank you so much. Bye bye Gardiner House Hostel, bye bye to my friend, and bye bye to Dublin. I leave with both nostalgia and happiness ❤️🩹

The friends I traveled with also ate at the breakfast and said the price was fair because the buffet was so good. 10/10 stay. Also just a ten-ish minute ride downtown and airport.

GGuest UserThe hotel was advertised with parking, the parking was an extra €18 per 12 hours and was 500 mtrs away in a public car park, which with all the one way streets took forever to access, there wasn’t even space to park at the front to unload bags except in a no standing zone.
The room was so small we had nowhere for our bags and you had to roll across the bed to access either side. It was also so hard the floor would have been more comfortable.
This hotel is definitely not value for money.
The tea and coffee making machine in the foyer made the worst tea I have ever tasted.

GGuest UserMy husband and I had been planning this trip to Dublin for quite some time. And when we found this beautiful boutique hotel online, we were so excited. As soon as we arrived And checked in, there was a lot going on in the lobby area, so it was a little overwhelming. We saw a lady at the desk, but we weren’t sure that she actually worked there because she didn’t greet us. Didn’t even look our way. It seemed like she had a general disinterest or disdain for us being there. I asked, “Is this the front desk to the hotel?” To which she responded in a monotone voice, “Yes.” I was shocked that this was the first impression of the hotel that we were getting. What made it worse was that my husband was told that we needed to put a card on hold and he proceeded to tap his card thinking that it was like all the other places we had been to in Ireland. But it didn’t work. Several times he tapped it and it showed nothing. He asked the lady, “does your tap work? Do you have tap?” To which she replied a curt, “no.” Mind you, she was standing there the entire time and could see the entire situation. This interaction was such a bummer, and this made our short trip to Dublin feel a little sour.
To be honest, not all of the stuff was like that morning. We woke up to get a coffee downstairs, and the gentleman that works at the coffee bar was very warm. A young Spanish speaking man. He was absolutely amazing; patient and willing to answer any questions About the items on the menu And the different pastries available.
Overall, the hotel was a mixed bag. It had a very chic vibe but outside of that lovely gentleman, their customer service can definitely improve!
