This university complex, built in 2004, offers views of Arthur's Seat and is conveniently located near the Royal Mile, the Scottish Parliament, and the Palace of Holyrood. It features a 24-hour reception, 8 lifts, 3 cafés, a kiosk, a bar, and 2 restaurants with highchairs. Guests can also make use of 18 conference rooms, a public internet terminal (additional fees apply), and a laundry service (additional fee). Bicycle storage and free parking are available. The rooms include a bathroom with shower, direct dial telephone, TV, tea/coffee maker, and individual heating. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served buffet style, with a set menu option for lunch. Restaurants, a train station, bars, pubs and public transport are within 500 m, and shopping facilities are within 1 km. Edinburgh Airport is 12 km away.

"Check in was really straightforward. If you have any disabilities, they get you to complete a PEEP in case of emergency. They also have aids such as Deaf Alert (vibrating fire alert) that they lend for duration of stay. The room was a decent size, with an ensuite bathroom. Towels and soap was included, but not shampoo. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice ranging from a cooked breakfast to yoghurt, fruit and cereals. Location-wise very close to Arthur’s Seat, so if you had the time and energy could easily take a walk up there. Lovely campus with lots of plants and beautiful buildings. Location to Edinburgh centre - about 20-30 minutes walk. Easy to access transport if needed. Only thing I felt they could have improved on was better signage in building regarding exits and stairways as took a few wrong turnings whilst there and ended up going out of different door than intended."

We loved our stay at this hotel in Scotland. Perfect for a short trip—just a short walk to the airport. Breakfast was ready as early as 5am, which was such a bonus. Arrived before check-in time and the receptionist kindly allowed us to check in early. Everything was smooth and welcoming! Love!

We had a lovely stay at the Ibis on the Royal mile. Our room was modern, adequate in size. The temperature was just right and the bed comfortable. The location was excellent. We stayed at the back of the hotel and wasn’t bothered by a lot of noise. I would definitely recommend and will go back one day. An excellent choice and great value.

The only thing that was good about this hotel was the location- the most central. Everything else was pretty bad. I have requested a room with a nice view for our special occasion but was given a room with the view of the industrial back wall. Called the manager and he came and apologised and said there were no other rooms left. The room itself was outdated, looked like a hostel rather than a hotel. We have travelled a lot but this was the worst hotel we have stayed in. Our special occasion was ruined. The room was so tiny that it was difficult to squeeze a suitcase between the bed and the wall. The TV had no internet connected. There was no mini fridge. The bathroom entry door was a squeeze. The toilet was so close to the wall that you would be pushed into a wall. No toilet brush either. For the expensive price paid they didn’t even give us a bottle of water or a biscuit. The restaurant is under refurbishment this time and they provide tea/coffee and pastries on level 3 for breakfast free. There is a limited expensive menu to order from reception to your room if you need. The luggage storage facility is limited. When checking out many people were told there was no more room for the luggage storage and those people had to go and look for the pricey luggage storage outside. We met some people also complaining about the hotel. Will never come back to this hotel again.

The hotel is in a great location, very conveniently within walking distance of various major tourist attractions. The hotel itself has a charmingly antique feel and is close to Calton Hill, a great spot for sunset views. Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace are also within easy reach.

This hotel is ideally located right next to Haymarket Station, making travel super convenient. We were able to walk to all the city's attractions in just over ten minutes. Our room was compact but well-designed, spotless, and dry. The bedding was wonderfully soft and comfortable, the shower had consistent water pressure, and the smart lighting was a thoughtful touch. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and attentive, and check-in was a breeze.

Excellent Location, but Serious Security Lapses I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be a bit of a mixed bag. While there are some undeniable perks to the property, a few significant service and security issues made for a rather unsettling experience. The Highlights Prime Location: This is easily the hotel's strongest suit. It’s situated right next to Haymarket station, and there is a bus stop literally just outside the front door. Getting into the city centre takes no more than 10 minutes, making it a perfect base for exploring. Commendable Service: The reception team provided a decent welcome. I’d like to give a special mention to Shreyas, who was incredibly helpful and professional throughout our interactions. Quality Dining: We ate at the on-site restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The food was of a high standard, and the waitstaff were attentive and friendly. Room Maintenance & Tech Issues Unfortunately, the shine started to wear off once we settled into the room: Housekeeping Oversights: Despite this being a multi-day stay, the complimentary water bottles were never replaced after the first day. Faulty Tech: The in-room tablet was practically useless. It kept restarting due to a battery fault; ironically, it even cut out while I was trying to use it to contact reception. Privacy Concerns: When we requested extra toilet roll, the staff member who delivered it attempted to walk straight into the room using their key, rather than knocking and waiting for us to answer. It was a complete breach of basic hospitality etiquette. A Major Security Concern The most distressing part of the trip occurred on our second day. Upon returning to our room in the evening, we were shocked to find the main door open. It appears the cleaning staff had failed to secure the door after finishing their rounds. Finding your hotel room left open to the public is, quite frankly, scary. It’s a massive security fail that overshadowed the rest of the stay. While the location is brilliant, the hotel desperately needs to tighten up its staff training and safety protocols. Would I stay again? Only if I were certain that the security and maintenance issues had been addressed.

Holiday Inn Express EDINBURGH - CITY WEST by IHG

My stay was perfect. I am an IHG members as well, they took my number and said that will add rewards to my account. I didn’t know it was possible, was never offered to me before by my previous IHG Hotel stays🥲 10mins to City Centre, staffs were lovely and courteous. Breakfast same as all Holiday Inn, there was a staff who would assist you to breakfast buffet and refill your water bottle if you ask. Room was small but clean and nice. I was offered for a greener stay (they won’t clean the room or change the sheet if I opted not to, my choice, in exchange 500points to my reward -we’ll see?) Bus station and Londis were few steps from the Hotel.

My trip to Edinburgh was an unforgettable experience filled with history, culture, and stunning scenery. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the city’s unique blend of old and new, with medieval architecture sitting alongside modern shops and restaurants. One of the highlights of my visit was exploring Edinburgh Castle, which sits proudly on top of a volcanic rock. The views from the castle were incredible, and learning about Scotland’s history made the visit even more interesting. Walking down the Royal Mile was another memorable part of the trip, as it was full of street performers, traditional shops, and lively atmosphere. I also really enjoyed visiting Arthur’s Seat. Although the hike was a bit challenging, the panoramic views of the city were absolutely worth it. It was a great way to experience Edinburgh’s natural beauty. The food in Edinburgh was another highlight. I had the chance to try traditional Scottish dishes, and the local restaurants offered a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, my experience in Edinburgh was amazing. The city has something for everyone, whether you’re interested in history, nature, or simply exploring a beautiful place. I would definitely recommend visiting Edinburgh and hope to return again in the future.

The room was much better than expected, clean and comfortable. Self-service check-in and check-out were quick and convenient. If you don't know how to use it, you can call and ask for patient guidance. If you don't know how to use the access control, you can ask the staff. The location is far from the city center and various attractions, about 30 minutes walk, but you can take the bus. In summary, it is still a good choice. After all, hotels in Edinburgh are crazy expensive. I will stay in this hotel again.

My second stay here Great location at a good price, in Edinburgh you will be outside most of the day in this great city so you just need a comfortable sleep at a good location which this hotel provides as it's at the tip of the royal mile and only few mins walk to Waverley bridge where you can get the airport express bus and also the train station, rooms have good Balmoral view Just avoid the corner rooms cuz they have sluggish internet connection
