Weapons Square, full of historical heaviness
Weapons Square, like most South American capitals, every city has a "Weapons Square". But Santiago's "Weapons Square" is a bit different, there is a small garden in the center of the square, many locals chat and sunbathe here, even play cards, chess and sing. Facing the cameras in the hands of foreign tourists, they seem to have long been accustomed to, facing the lens with a relaxed and casual face. In Weapons Square, you can see patrolling with police dogs everywhere, and there are even mounted police stationed here.
The Presidential Palace of Santiago, the capital of Chile (also known as La Moneda Palace), was built during the Spanish colonial period. It was originally used as the private residence of the first lady of Chile, and it was not used as the presidential palace until the 19th century. It is usually open to tourists for free.
Like most capitals in South America, each city has a weapon square. But San Diego's "Weapons Square" is not the same as anything else. There is a small garden in the center of the square. Many local people chat here and bask in the sun, and even play cards to sing. Facing the camera in the hands of foreign tourists, they seem to have been used to it, facing the camera with a relaxed face. In the Weapons Square, you can see the patrols of police dogs everywhere, and even the Mounted Police stationed here, which suddenly made me feel safe.
As soon as I landed in San Diego, I went to the hotel and left my luggage and went straight to the center of San Diego, the Weapons Square. It is home to the most important religious, political and cultural institutions in San Diego. On the west side of the square is the largest and most magnificent cathedral in Chile, with the National Post Office, the History Museum and the San Diego City Hall on the north side. There are also folk artists' songs and dances, music and talk shows in the square.
The San Diego Arms Plaza is located in the urban area. When the Weapons Square was still colonized by Spain in Spain, the Spaniards used a lot of weapons in the Arms Square to shock the local aborigines.
Today's Weapons Square has become a place for local citizens to meet, shop, set up, and perform. It is surrounded by the most important religious, political and cultural institutions in San Diego. On the west side of the square is the largest and most magnificent cathedral in Chile.
Located in the old town of Santiago, the Plaza de Armas is surrounded by Santiago's most important religious, political and cultural institutions and is one of the most important squares in the region. When Spain colonized South America, according to Spanish practice, a weapon plaza would be built in the flattest and widest part of every colonial capital. In the square, there would be a gallows, symbolizing the royal power. And usually, churches, royal courts, state treasury, city halls, prisons, and the residences of the dignitaries are built around the square. Nowadays, the important buildings in the square are still there, but the gallows symbolizing the right has disappeared. Over time, the Plaza of Arms has finally become one of the favorite squares for the locals. On the west side of the
plaza is Chile's largest and most imposing main church in Santiago, and it is also Chile's most famous church, and the remains of the Archbishop of Chile are said to remain in the ground beneath the church.
The corner of the north side of the square, a white ornate building caught my eye, here is the Central Post Office in San Diego. When you walk into it, you can send a beautiful postcard to yourself or your relatives and friends. When you receive a blessing from the South America, the other party will be very happy. On the other side of the
square, painting booths are placed along the street. Everyone's painting skills are very amazing. If you have time, sit here and let these folk masters come to portraits, colorful and beautiful South American style. The style of painting is just like the city, and it is passionate.
