#chinatrip 🥰China's most beautiful glaze paifang, I'm completely amazed by this charming peacock blue!
China has countless paifang (Chinese-style archways), most of which are made of stone. There are only 13 glaze archways exist in China, with 12 located in Beijing and Chengde, and just one in Jiexiu, Shanxi Province. The Taihe Rock glaze archway in Jiexiu is the only archway entirely made of glaze, featuring a primary color of jade-like peacock accented with golden yellow and green glaze, making it even more vibrant.
The patterns on the glaze are vivid and rich in content, featuring dragon motifs, auspicious beasts, flowers, birds, fish, insects, figures, landscapes, and couplets, all embodying the good wishes for luck, longevity, and peace in. Various artistic techniques such as imitation line carving, high relief, and transparent carving have been employed in the glaze pieces, along with a wealth of painting techniques, making each piece unique. The glaze archway is truly a masterpiece without doubt among many archways in China.
