I wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese-style room typical of Kyoto, and I had a wonderful time. I was impressed by the earthen-floored kitchen.
It was a comfortable stay in a charming old house.
I used a private Japanese-style room on the second floor facing the shopping street. The Japanese furniture, such as the low table and clothes rack, was lovely and convenient.
Although I could hear conversations from other rooms, everyone was well-mannered that day, and it became quiet after midnight, so I was able to sleep without any problems.
The location is very convenient, right near Higashiyama Station. I stayed there for a concert held at the Rohm Theatre, and the convenient location made getting around very easy.
They offer free porridge for breakfast, which I enjoyed. I think the rice is delicious, as it was very tasty even without adding anything. If I have the opportunity to stay again, I'll bring some dried sardines and kelp!
I was very grateful that they allowed me to leave my luggage after check-out.
There is only one shower room, so I used a nearby public bath. Coffee, tea, and green tea are available free of charge. You can make it by boiling water in the kettle. Towels, yukata (Japanese robes), and toothbrushes are available for a fee, so guests need to purchase them or bring their own.
There are many delicious restaurants nearby, and I enjoyed trying various places like Shokudo Hayashiya, Marushin Hanten, and Kyoto Gion Bologna Coffee Shop. I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity.

Clean, spacious, professional. Really liked my experience there . Loved the bed, convenient. You can use it like a sofa and as a bed . Loved the mirror in my « room ». So grateful. Well located too.
Points to work on : put the towels and slippers on each floors. Toilet and shower doors too heavy, need some oil lol. Would put a tablette on the side of the bed for phone, charger, etc.
Nothing more honestly !

I really liked the hotel. The room was decorated in a traditional Japanese style. Shops, transportation, and attractions were all within walking distance. It was quiet, clean, and there was always hot water. A nice bonus was the breakfast with toast, butter, jam, and fruit. I was very pleased. I recommend it!

Here's an elaborated version of your hotel review:
I had the pleasure of traveling in January 2026, and looking back, choosing this hotel was without a doubt one of the best decisions I made for my trip. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in good hands.
The experience exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The accommodations were impeccably maintained, offering everything I needed to feel right at home — even while away from home.
Whether it was the quality of the rooms, the amenities on offer, or simply the overall atmosphere of the place, everything came together to create a truly memorable stay. It was the kind of hotel that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another booking.
If you're planning a trip and considering where to stay, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel without any hesitation. It perfectly blended comfort, convenience, and hospitality in a way that is genuinely hard to find. I will absolutely be returning on my next visit, and I encourage anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable place to stay to give it a try — you won't be disappointed!
Having stayed in many capsule hotels, this one offered the best experience by far. It has a large public bath and individual shower rooms, as well as a common lounge. Plus, there's a free lactic acid drink served in the afternoon. Most other hotels require guests to check out by 10 AM, but this one has no such strict rule, allowing residents to return to the hotel for a rest during midday, which makes traveling much more convenient and flexible. There's also a supermarket and duty-free shop nearby, which is very handy. The only downside is that the transportation isn't as convenient as I'd hoped. While it's easy to get there by bus, the bus frequency is quite low, and if you take the subway, it's at least a 15-minute walk. I'd definitely choose this chain of capsule hotels again!

The location is fantastic, with convenient access to public transportation, as the bus/tram stop is right next door. It's a straight shot to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and Nijo Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace are very close by. The hostel is within a 15-minute walk of the Kamo River and Hanamikoji. You can also take a direct bus to attractions like the Philosopher's Path.
The area is lively, with plenty of shops and malls nearby.
The room is quite quiet. The front desk staff doesn't speak Chinese, only English and Japanese. The main topics of communication were confirming accommodation details, collecting accommodation tax, asking if paid pajamas were needed, noting that one key card opens all locks, and providing the room number and floor (my female dorm was on the first floor, to the left of the elevator once you enter). Disposable toiletries can be picked up near the elevator.
Overall, it's clean and hygienic. The vanity area/showers/toilets/individual locker area/washing machine (not sure if it's coin-operated) are all available. The functional area signs aren't very obvious; the toilets are located within the washroom area.

Authentic experience, just what we were looking for!
The place was traditional and felt real. Toilets were good, as were the showers, all amenities were fine. I was a little apprehensive about the self check in but it was really easy and straight forwards. Japanese rice porridge was included and a nice touch. Overall, the stay was perfect, exactly what we wanted.

The reception was very warm; there was even a Russian-speaking staff member who gave us detailed information about the hotel's surroundings. Thanks to him, we were able to find perhaps the best cento of our trip. The room's downsides included the windows not opening, the combined bathroom and shower, and short blankets. The room's advantages included power outlets by the bed.

A cozy renovated house in the center of Kyoto, located in a quiet neighborhood with old streets and temples. The room was quite large and spacious, featuring a table, a mirror, a sofa, and excellent, comfortable futons. We slept so well, and the room quickly warmed up with the air conditioner. For convenience, there's a shared toilet on the same floor as the room, serving two rooms. The rooms are on the second floor, while the first floor has a bathroom with a tub and a kitchen where you can not only heat food but even cook, as it has everything you need: a stove, cutlery, dishes, and a large refrigerator. The stairs to the second floor are quite steep, but that didn't bother us since we only had backpacks.

The overall environment of the hotel is quite clean, but the check-out time is not a good time to remember, I thought it was an hour earlier than the domestic, 11:00 check-out, I didn't expect it to be 10:00
The room is quite small overall, but the overall feeling is not bad, experience the Japanese accommodation atmosphere, a novel experience, the surrounding is quite quiet, not very noisy, belongs to the residential area, it is convenient to go anywhere, walk about 7 minutes to the subway station, But after the evening, there are residential areas, there are no people activities, not even convenience stores, there are coin-operated self-service vending machines downstairs, everyone needs to pay attention to this

AAsh412222The location is very good, just a few minutes walk from the subway station, but there are not many food options near the hotel, only convenience stores, and the hotel does not have an elevator. Guests with large luggage need to pay attention, because they need to carry their luggage upstairs by themselves

Amazing
MMumutu0417My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha.
It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.
KKyoto GodFUGA STAY, true to the meaning of its name “fuga” (elegance and serenity), is a refined and peaceful hideaway tucked within the heart of Kyoto.
I personally love hotels that are hidden away from the main road yet still extremely convenient—just a 3 to 5-minute walk from Omiya Subway Station and numerous Kyoto city bus stops.
If you’re into cycling or using e-scooters, there’s a Luup rental station right in front of the hotel.
The room is spacious and very comfortable for a solo traveler. It comes with two double beds that you can easily move together to form a super king-size bed. The bathroom is also large, with no sense of tightness.
The front desk staff speaks Japanese and Chinese, so communication is smooth and easy.
Honestly, I’m hesitant to praise FUGA too much—if too many people discover it, the price might go up!
P.S. Just around the corner is Tendō Shrine, only a 2-minute walk away. It felt like a beautiful encounter by fate.
FUGA STAY
FUGA STAY,
GGuest UserExtremely clean, both the beds and the bathroom areas were spotless. The facilities are new. It's an all-female dormitory, so it's relatively quiet; no one comes and goes late at night. The environment is very elegant, and there's a reading area and a pantry on the second floor, perfect for sitting down with a book and a coffee. The price is absolutely perfect. It's about a six to seven-minute walk from the subway.

GGuest UserVery comfortable, spacious room, a sofa, a large clothes, washing machine, shampoo, clothes towels, clothes, hair dryer, ready to go to many The day is recommended here, not far from the train station, there are many restaurants, very close to the safety of the bottom, a little narrow, a very large soup, there are many restaurants, a little narrow, the cover is a little narrow.
AAnonymous UserI stayed for two nights at Hashidate Bay Hotel and was initially hesitant to book, thinking it might be too far from Amanohashidate Station. The nearest bus stop is about a 5–8 minute walk, and buses run only once an hour. But based on the reviews, it looked promising—and I’m so glad I went ahead with the booking.
To my surprise, I was upgraded to a much larger room, almost like a four-person suite. It was huge, and the view of Yoshino from my window was absolutely stunning. I was super happy with the stay—this upgrade felt like a real treat. They even provided bath lavender, which I thought was just for the first night, but they refilled it the next day.
Since I arrived early, I left my luggage at the hotel before heading out to explore Amanohashidate. When I checked in later that night, I was pleasantly surprised to find my luggage already placed in my room. That was a big plus—so comforting after a full day of walking.
I wish I’d told them I was arriving early—the locker at Amanohashidate Station was too small for my luggage. I ended up taking a taxi, which could’ve been free if I’d arranged a pickup with the hotel in advance.
The breakfast was good too—my favorite was the prawn tempura. And the lady who dropped me off at the station was soft-spoken and very pretty. Overall, a memorable and comfortable stay.
GGuest UserThe rooms were very good, very spacious, unlike typical capsule hotels. The bathroom was shared by both genders, which was a bit inconvenient, especially since it wasn't on the same floor as the rooms. So, you always had to go up and down. But at least it was clean. Maybe a few more shower cubicles would be great too. Otherwise, a nice front desk. :)
GGuest UserExcellent hostel in the heart of Kyoto! I really loved the Japanese-style common area (open 24 hours). Overall, it was clean, but I did see a cockroach in the kitchen, which made me lower my cleanliness rating! It's a shame they don't provide slippers and towels.
JJohnsonswsEveb though the hostel is a bit far from city, the facilities are very good, staffs are super friendly, breakfast that I pre-booked is worthe the value, overall a nice stay in this hoste
