Chengdu’s Wuhou Shrine, officially named “Wuhou Shrine – Shrine of Emperor Zhaolie of Han,” was first built during the Western Jin dynasty (265 CE). It’s one of China’s earliest and most influential heritage sites tied to the Three Kingdoms, and it primarily honors Zhuge Liang, the chancellor of Shu Han during that era. It seemed like it was always crowded in the evenings, no matter the day of the week. Not only tourists but also locals come here to relax, eat, and spend time with family.

Du Fu Thatched Cottage is really worth a visit if you're going to Chengdu. It is a really nice escape if you're looking for a tranquil time out of the bustling city. Although there are a lot of visitors, it feels spacious and green and you can sense the inspiration and seclusion by Dufu and learn more about the history of the place, the life and poems of Dufu, and his importance for Chinese culture as well. You can take a stroll, buy pretty souvenirs and have tea.

Definitely worth a visit. Very calm place that looks like a giant garden. You can wander around in it for hours and have a nice time. Plenty of amenities likes toilets close the the exits. Some shops inside to grab a little snack. Though the directions could be a bit clearer, we ended up getting lost multiple times. Nonetheless it doesn't take any of the charm away and wandering around and getting lost ends up being part of the experience 😁

Perfect for a leisurely stroll, sampling street snacks, and experiencing Chengdu’s culture. We bought some of the tea pastry and tea leaves and shop for some panda souvenirs there. We have our lunch in one of the Sichuan cuisine restaurant in the narrow alley which the food is pretty good. There is a cat souvenir shop named Mao Mao Yao which sells lovely handmade ceramic cat product. We bought some fridge magnets before going back to our hotel.

It feels like an ancient city that has been renovated to be modern. There are beautifully decorated restaurants and cafes, each competing to create unique gimmicks to attract customers. The prices are only slightly higher than usual, despite being in a popular location.

Also, room service deliveries aren't allowed to guest rooms, which I assume is for security reasons and is understandable, but it does mean a slight inconvenience for guests. And finally, you can't reach your room directly by one elevator; you need to transfer, which is a bit troublesome when you have luggage. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options, including both continental and very local dishes like 'Bo Bo Chicken' and 'Zhong Shui Jiao' (dumplings). Even though it's above a bustling commercial street, the room was incredibly quiet. I slept in until 8:30 AM on my first day! Check-in is on the 15th floor, but there's a concierge on the ground floor who provides excellent service; they were always prompt in opening car doors and greeting us upon arrival and departure. I highly recommend trying the all-you-can-eat hotpot on the 16th floor; the food is great, and surprisingly, my clothes didn't smell afterwards! Because of the hotel's prime location, the room felt a little cramped overall, especially the bathroom, which was quite small. 1. **Facilities are old:** This is unavoidable, as the hotel opened in 2007. Back then, it was definitely top-notch, but it's not 'old' in a negative sense.

3. **Excellent service:** A big thank you to the front desk staff – they were never impatient, no matter when we approached them. We drove to Chengdu, and since there are traffic restrictions based on license plates, having a parking lot at this hotel was incredibly convenient. The security guard was also very kind and welcoming. The front desk staff was diligent and responsible. The room wasn't huge, but it was very elegant, and the bedding was super comfortable. There are lots of great food options nearby, and it's really close to Chunxi Road. If you want to go to Sanxingdui, you can just take a bus from Chunxi Road. Chengdu truly is a relaxing city! The buffet breakfast was not just a perfunctory offering. The homemade yogurt was rich and creamy, perfectly complemented by honey, raisins, and banana chips – refreshing and healthy. The cold milk was also very fresh. In the hot dishes section, there were Sichuan-style stews and authentic spicy ox tongue salad, which was麻辣鲜香 (numbingly spicy, fragrant, and savory). Getting to taste the flavors of Chengdu so early in the morning was very satisfying!
First-Class Amenities 🏊
The constant temperature swimming pool on the third floor was absolutely amazing. The water was clear and clean, and when there weren't many people, it felt like having the whole place to yourself. After a swim, I went to the gym for a run, with views of the Global Center visible right outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. The yoga room had solid wood flooring, and with the sunlight streaming in, the whole space felt incredibly healing. I followed a yoga session with the smart mirror, and after a good sweat, all the day's fatigue vanished.

This Home Inn I booked for my trip to Chengdu was easily the best I've ever stayed at; the experience was truly fantastic. The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a lovely fragrance, which was incredibly pleasant. The front desk staff were also very warm and attentive during check-in, always greeting guests with a smile. Their service was impeccable – always available but never intrusive.
The hotel's overall decor has a distinctly British feel, and both the staff's attire and the interior design were excellent. The environment is quiet despite being in a bustling area; the whole place felt very peaceful.
The hotel breakfast was quite good, offering local Chengdu specialties like 'xiaomian' (noodles), 'chaoshou' (wontons), and 'douhua' (tofu pudding). The cleaning staff were also very friendly; the 'auntie' cleaning our room even brought us extra bottles of water when tidying our room during our extended stay.
The hotel is conveniently located in the city center near Xinnanmen Metro Station, just a 150m walk away. Having the metro so close made getting around and visiting attractions incredibly easy. Chunxi Road is just one metro stop away, and popular spots like Kuanzhai Alley and Wenshu Monastery are also easily accessible. There are plenty of dining options nearby, including 'chuan'er' (skewer) and hot pot restaurants. Just a short walk down University Road, you'll find even more local snacks.
