Chengdu’s Wuhou Shrine, officially named “Wuhou Shrine – Shrine of Emperor Zhaolie of Han,” was first built during the Western Jin dynasty (265 CE). It’s one of China’s earliest and most influential heritage sites tied to the Three Kingdoms, and it primarily honors Zhuge Liang, the chancellor of Shu Han during that era. Originally standing side by side with Liu Bei’s Shrine of Emperor Zhaolie, the two were merged in the Ming dynasty, creating a rare temple in China where a ruler and his minister are worshiped together.
Zhuge Liang, courtesy name Kongming, was a central figure of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms era, renowned for his extraordinary wisdom and for loyally assisting Liu Bei in founding the Shu Han state. Foreign visitors must first present their passports at the main reception near the entrance and receive paper tickets if they have purchased them in advance. The museum is spacious, but it was incredibly crowded. Numerous statues are on display, each with a description of the person depicted. The descriptions are written in white letters on glass, so I almost missed them at first. There are several souvenir shops, and they have a wide variety of interesting cultural and creative goods. For some reason, they also have Koei merchandise. In addition to the Peach Garden Brothers, there is also a memorial hall promoting the "fish and water relationship," so there are plenty of things to see.

For those interested in the history of the Three Kingdoms, I recommend buying a guided tour. Even though I'm not very familiar with the Three Kingdoms period, I still learned a lot about the historical background and key figures, which was great. However, it was a bit inconvenient because you need to answer a phone call to receive the meeting information on the day of the tour (there were so many people that I ended up having to ask a passerby to help me contact the guide and find the meeting point).

It felt like a marketplace as old as the history of Wuhechi itself. It seemed that the scenery of the Ming and Qing dynasties would not differ fundamentally, except for the goods sold here. There were particularly many panda-related shops. If I hadn't already filled my suitcase with Starbucks mugs and other items, I would have bought more related merchandise. I was very intrigued by the "Fei Chang Bao Da Chong" (large intestine stuffed with raw scallions), so I tried one. It seems China isn't very good at getting rid of the gamey smell from small intestines and large intestines. However, the strong flavor of the raw scallions did manage to mask the odor. Curious about the taste of Chinese oysters, I bought a plate of grilled raw oysters. They contained a lot of garlic, so the garlic flavor was strong. Other items that caught my eye included grilled pig brains, grilled rabbit heads, and grilled rabbits.

Jinli Street is one of those places in Chengdu that’s worth seeing, especially if it’s your first time in the city. The old-style architecture, red lanterns, small shops, food stalls, and narrow streets give it a very different feel from the modern side of Chengdu.It can get busy, so I found it much more enjoyable earlier in the day or later in the evening, when you can actually take your time and look around. The street is quite touristy, but I still enjoyed wandering through the side alleys, stopping for snacks, and taking photos of the details along the way.It’s not somewhere I’d spend an entire day, but it makes for a nice couple of hours combined with the nearby Wuhou Shrine. The lanterns and traditional buildings are especially beautiful after dark when everything is lit up.A good place to wander rather than rush through with a checklist.

It seemed like it was always crowded in the evenings, no matter the day of the week. Not only tourists but also locals come here to relax, eat, and spend time with family.
We were here both during the day and in the evening. It was very beautiful and colorful. The large number of people only adds to the atmosphere of this place.

A very atmospheric and cozy place with a history. A park and museum dedicated to the poet, located on the western outskirts of Chengdu.
The hut in Chengdu became Du Fu's residence in the winter of 759. In the spring, with the help of friends, the hut on the picturesque bank of the Huanhuasi River was completed. He lived here for four years. In 765, Du Fu reunited with his family and moved here.
The park contains pavilions, gardens, ponds, and exhibition halls. It's a very peaceful place where you can wander for a long time and soak up the atmosphere.

It was impressive to see how many dynasties have gathered and conserved Dufu's collection of poems with such care. The great poet's home for only five years has been restored after the great storm and made bigger many times but yet the essence of the old times has been kept as if time froze. Peaceful environment and fresh air can be enjoyed while walking along paths bordered with ponds, creeks and amazing plants and trees. The many statues of the poet in different postures depicting his love for his horse were a delight to see. His poems about his feelings for his family and the suffering he endured during the storm showed how he was deeply affected to the sufferings of the people of his time during wartimes who were homeless.

While you can wander around at your own pace, it's still best to have a guided tour for a more immersive experience and a complete explanation. Otherwise, you'll just be rushing through and missing out. Overall, a guided tour is highly recommended.

Perfect for a leisurely stroll, sampling street snacks, and experiencing Chengdu’s culture. We bought some of the tea pastry and tea leaves and shop for some panda souvenirs there. We have our lunch in one of the Sichuan cuisine restaurant in the narrow alley which the food is pretty good. There is a cat souvenir shop named Mao Mao Yao which sells lovely handmade ceramic cat product. We bought some fridge magnets before going back to our hotel.

It was like an apartment with great features such as a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and drier, but with all services and amenities of a 5 star hotel as well such as room service, daily cleaning, and hotel breakfast. The room separation to the living area was a bonus for us with a toddler with an earlier bed time, and this hotel was was the only place during our travels where they provided a proper cot rather than a travel or foldable one. For my trip to Chengdu, I stayed at the JW Marriott Maoye, and I absolutely have to commend Michelle from Guest Relations! As soon as I arrived at the hotel to check in, Michelle greeted us warmly. She attentively listened to our itinerary and patiently helped us plan our sightseeing routes, recommending authentic local delicacies. This instantly made us even more excited about the city.
The entire stay was full of pleasant surprises. The welcome tea on the eighth floor was incredibly warming, and the mini-bar drinks in the room were complimentary. The turndown service included chocolates, a detail that really touched me [clever emoji]. For breakfast, the General Manager's handmade latte art coffee and the Sichuan-style noodles are both worth trying. You can even spot cute kittens at the JW Garden.
The room itself was clean and comfortable, with excellent soundproofing. Whenever we had any questions during our stay, Michelle responded promptly and handled everything gently and appropriately. It was her thoughtful and attentive service that made our trip to Chengdu exceptionally pleasant.

I had a wonderful stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu, where the service truly went above and beyond my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality and attention to detail were outstanding.
I was generously upgraded to a Club Suite, which was a lovely surprise. When I was feeling unwell, the team kindly arranged some ice for me, and when I slept in and missed the usual Club breakfast timing, they graciously allowed me to enjoy breakfast even though it normally finishes at 11 am. These thoughtful gestures made such a difference and demonstrated genuine care for their guests.
A very special thank you to Meria Pan, whose hospitality, professionalism, and kindness were exceptional. She made me feel genuinely looked after, and I cannot thank her enough for going the extra mile to ensure my comfort. She is a real credit to the hotel.
Another highlight was the excellent service throughout the property. All the staff I encountered spoke English and were friendly, attentive, and professional, making the entire experience seamless and comfortable.
The buffet at Spices Restaurant was also excellent, with an extensive variety of dishes to choose from, all delicious and beautifully presented.
What sets this hotel apart is not just the beautiful accommodation or excellent dining, but the genuine warmth and willingness of the team to go above and beyond for their guests. Located close to Chunxi Road(5 min walk) and Tianfu Square(10 min walk), exit at Exit E1 or Exit A from Chunxi Metro Station for nearest exit. The lobby is huge and clean, the single room also huge and comfortable. The breakfast variety is good for 4* rated hotel with noodle/salad/pastry station and hot dishes like Thai chicken curry, fried mixed vegetable etc, good breakfast to start the day.
The staffs are helpful but might hv some difficulty to understand some crucial request. I asked for no room clean but need water bottles and ended up getting none. I very like the carpetted room but I found few strains of hair left, the housekeepers could do abit more hard vacuum during cleaning I guess. Others were spotless.
There a lot of eateries and shops around the hotel and this is very convenient for guests. The local post office is nearby for someone love to postcross too. Very recommend this hotel for all travellers coming to Chengdu.FromSAR 88

You can walk to Chunxi Road and Tianfu Square, and it's also very convenient to get to other attractions by public transport. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and all the facilities were well-equipped. The bathroom's wet and dry separation was very well done. This hotel is situated at an excellent location right opposite metro station and near Chunxi Road Pedestrian Street with plenty of restaurants, shops and entertainment options, which makes our travel and stay super easy and convenient. Hotel staff are friendly and willing to help. Hotel restaurant is with nice decorations and mainly serves Chinese style breakfast and cuisines, however, they do have two coffee machines, which is a bonus. Hotel rooms are cleaned daily and the cleaning ladies are very friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and this hotel is highly recommended!FromSAR 192

We had a pleasant and comfortable stay. While the convenient location and comfortable room were appreciated, it was the genuine warmth, attentiveness and hospitality of the staff that truly made our stay memorable. Thank you for making our visit to Chengdu so enjoyable!
Location: The location is convenient, with around a 15-minute walk to Taikoo Li and IFS. There are also plenty of shops nearby, making it easy to explore the surrounding area.
Room: The room is clean and comfortable, and the bed is soft and cosy, allowing us to have a good rest after a day of sightseeing.
Staff & Service: The staff are attentive, polite and helpful, and they genuinely try their best to accommodate our requests. I would especially like to commend Xiao Mei for her sincere smile and warm service, which made us feel genuinely welcomed.
We also greatly appreciated the hotel’s flexibility in extending our check-out time. This thoughtful arrangement allowed us to leave at a more comfortable pace and head to the airport without feeling rushed, making our departure much more relaxing.
I was also touched by the helpful lady from the laundry room, who greeted us warmly whenever we passed by and was always ready to offer assistance. These small but thoughtful gestures made us feel well cared for throughout our stay.FromSAR 267

Convenient location, clean room. I was pleasantly surprised to find a massage mattress in the room. Arriving late for a business trip, I was able to relax with a massage and sleep soundly. Transportation: The hotel is very close to Wenshu Monastery. The white walls, wooden structures, and bluestone courtyards, complemented by bonsai, create a super healing experience when walking on the damp stone paths on a rainy day.
Service: The service was attentive and thoughtful, and the room was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast: Most items were freshly made, not pre-packaged meals, which was very enjoyable.
Regret: Unfortunately, my itinerary was too tight. I returned late in the evening and had to leave for Huanglong early the next morning. I didn't get to fully immerse myself in the slow pace of the courtyard, which is a small regret from this trip. I really liked the environment and the facilities. First off, my room was upgraded from Block D to Block E. While it's a bit further from the Ocean Park, it's still a very short walk. Plus, there's a hotel shuttle that runs between the lobby, Ocean Park, and the rooms, so no matter where you stay, it's perfectly fine. I also chatted with customer service manager Mr. Zhao about a 1-hour late check-out, and that was arranged smoothly. If you're two adults and one child, they offer a complimentary children's breakfast upon check-in, but you'll need to purchase an extra Ocean Park ticket for the child. This time, my kid spent two full days in the water. We checked in at 1:30 PM on the first day, had a quick rest, then changed into swimsuits and headed straight to Ocean Park. We played from 2:30 PM until 7 PM. On the second day, after breakfast, we changed back into our swimsuits and played until 2 PM, then came back, showered, and checked out. I feel like we could have easily stayed another day, as we spent all our time playing in the water and had no time for shopping.FromSAR 306

We drove to Chengdu, and since there are traffic restrictions based on license plates, having a parking lot at this hotel was incredibly convenient. The security guard was also very kind and welcoming. The front desk staff was diligent and responsible. The room wasn't huge, but it was very elegant, and the bedding was super comfortable. There are lots of great food options nearby, and it's really close to Chunxi Road. If you want to go to Sanxingdui, you can just take a bus from Chunxi Road. Chengdu truly is a relaxing city! After a long day of sightseeing, coming back and having some tea was just perfect. The front desk even gave us a Wenshu Monastery prayer bracelet with 18 beads!FromSAR 131

The location is excellent, very close to Metro Line 2 and convenient for buses. Kuanzhai Alley is also nearby and within walking distance. There are plenty of dining options in the surrounding area, catering to all budgets. The room was spacious enough, and it came with tea bags, soft candies, and cookies. In the hallway, there were cold fruit drinks and hot coffee available. All the hotel staff were very friendly. The hygiene was good, and the facilities were neither new nor old. I have to say, this is one of the most satisfying hotels I've ever stayed in. The lobby smells lovely, and there's free coffee and drinks! The service is also exceptionally good; the front desk staff are polite and helpful, and the housekeeping ladies always greet you proactively, which is very pleasant. It's also very convenient for getting around, being close to the subway and bus stations – just a 2-minute walk. It's also near Chunxi Road and Jiuyan Bridge. We chose this hotel because it was close to the zoo and panda base, and the receptionist, Xiao Shu, greeted us warmly as soon as we entered the lobby. She gave our child candy and even provided slippers and a children's toothbrush – very thoughtful! The hotel environment was great, and there were many snack shops, hot pot restaurants, barbecue restaurants, and skewers restaurants nearby, all with delicious food. The room was very clean, well-equipped, and the shower temperature was just right. The air conditioning was also very smart.
