The Summer Palace

It was a hot summer day in Beijing, and the emperors of old are like, 'Not dealing with this heat in the Forbidden City.' So they built this massive getaway spot - The Summer Palace. It’s basically their version of a luxury vacation home, but on steroids. Think grand gardens, a huge lake, and these gorgeous pavilions where they’d chill, write poetry, and escape the heat & hustle. It’s history, art, and nature all in one.

Try to go on a sunny day and enjoy the view of the lake and the palaces, you can take one whole day for this because it is beautiful. Arm yourself with patience because and try to visit on working days not weekends it is less crowded. But it is beautifull do not miss it.

As soon as I arrived in Beijing, I headed to the Summer Palace, my favorite place to visit. I took Didi from my hotel near Wangfujing to the East Gate of the Summer Palace. It took about 40 minutes on a weekday afternoon, and the drop-off was right in front of the gate, making it easy to find the entrance. Since I didn't have much time, I took a quick route: East Gate entrance - Renshu Hall - Jangrang - Buxiang Pavilion - Chuli - Nanhu Island - Shiqianggong Bridge - Xingian Palace exit. I looked back and decided to definitely climb the Buxiang Pavilion! Even if it's tiring, take breaks along the way. The view of Kunming Lake from above is truly breathtaking. I also recommend taking a boat to Nanhu Island and crossing the Shiqianggong Bridge!
