LUNARIS is a moonlit window overlooking Yancheng. Here, the warmth of the historic old town is set alongside contemporary aesthetics, inviting travelers to rediscover Kaohsiung’s landscape through the perspective of the moon.
Guided by the philosophy of “landscape as culture, moonlight as emotion,” the hotel serves as a gathering place for cultural travelers and urban observers. Every framed view and every trace of light becomes an extension of Yancheng’s nightscape.

The front desk staff were absolutely wonderful! Since it was my first time visiting Kaohsiung and I had no idea about any of the attractions, the ladies at the front desk were incredibly patient and helpful. They gave me excellent recommendations for local eateries that locals frequent. My first impression of Kaohsiung was truly fantastic, thanks to their warm welcome and thorough explanation of the check-in procedures. They were all so friendly and accommodating. Furthermore, the hotel's location is excellent. It's right next to two attractions and also very close to the MRT station, making it incredibly convenient to get around anywhere. This hotel definitely exceeded my expectations for Kaohsiung!

The location is great, right by the main road and not a far walk from the MRT.
The breakfast offered a decent variety of choices, not overly extensive but not too limited either.
The staff provided excellent service. One day, we had to leave the hotel early for a trip out of town, before breakfast hours. We asked if the hotel could arrange breakfast for us, and they kindly packed it in a lovely box. Many thanks!
The room was quite spacious and had a window. The price was very cheap, just over 600 NTD per night—even more upscale than a backpacker's room! The only downside was that it was a bit of a walk from the MRT station, which might be inconvenient if you're carrying luggage.
I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kaohsiung.
Located in downtown Kaohsiung, the hotel is close to the commercial center, train station, and highways, offering convenient transportation and excellent accessibility. The location is great, about a 7-minute walk from Cianjin MRT station. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful. The first room we were assigned was quite noisy, and we had to contact the front desk twice to change rooms before we found one we were happy with. The staff were very accommodating and helped us change rooms each time. Having a coin-operated laundry room was also very convenient!

A wonderful hotel with simple, if old school, design. You get all you need for a room. Location wise it's fantastic. Near major art and cultural spots in KH - KH historical museum, the pier and a hipster market. Bars around too.

The location is convenient, and they offer a parking spot with a $100 subsidy. For those who need to know, the non-subsidized parking lot across the street costs $300 for 24 hours. The soundproofing in the room is good, but you can hear conversations in the hallway quite clearly from inside the room. Toiletries can be purchased at the front desk.

Q21 Hotel, Kaohsiung
I had a great experience staying at Q21 Hotel. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly, accommodating, and always willing to help. The location is excellent—very close to the subway station and within walking distance of the beautiful Love River, which was a big highlight of the stay.
Snacks, tea, and coffee were always available, which was a nice and thoughtful touch. The only area that could be improved is breakfast; it would be better if there were more options for eggs and bread, such as boiled eggs or sunny-side-up eggs.
Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and I would definitely consider staying here again.

Great location, close to Pier-2 Art Center, and convenient for dining and drinks. The hotel is filled with artworks everywhere. The front desk staff are friendly and polite, and check-in and check-out are handled efficiently. The restaurant staff are very welcoming and enthusiastic, always greeting guests with a big smile. The buffet counter is always kept spotless, and the breakfast is fresh and light. I especially loved the sweet potato congee; the rice grains were perfectly bloomed.
The soundproofing in the room was a bit weak, the hallway lighting was a little dim, and the air conditioning only allowed for adjusting the fan speed.

The hotel was nice. The Bathroom was clean and nice hot shower. The water pressure was perfect. The beds were comfortable and the Air conditioning was nice. The staff were helpful. During my stay, I felt peaceful and there was no noise. The only thing I felt uncomfortable was the lighting. I felt the bathroom lighting was very dim. There were only 2 small light bulbs in the bathroom. I feel the bathroom should be well lit. The bathroom was dim and dark.

I had a great stay. The hotel is very clean, with housekeeping provided daily. As a light sleeper, I appreciated that the room felt private and quiet. Bottled water need to request from front desk. While there was a slight odor at the elevator, the room itself was perfectly fine.
The location is excellent—a 5-minute walk to the MRT (1 stop from Formosa Boulevard) and a 30-minute Uber to Zuoying HSR and the Dragon and Tiger Pagoda. A small Family Mart is right next door, and Hwada Milk Tea is just 200m away. McDonald's is nearby. I didn’t opt for hotel breakfast, and there aren't many breakfast varieties within walking distance. My only real complaint was that the pillows were too soft.

Outstanding
GGuest UserThis hotel definitely deserves a special shout-out! My experience was fantastic right from check-in. For those who enjoy culinary experiences, I highly recommend checking out their 'one night, two meals' package. I loved the ice cream with nachos at the ground floor cafe. The evening snacks and breakfast on the second floor were also delicious. While it might not have the extensive variety of a typical star-rated hotel buffet, it offers a great chance to try various local snacks. Every single braised meat, minced pork, and topping was incredibly flavorful, and I especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of a rice cooker so you could serve yourself hot rice. You could really tell that the restaurant staff and managers were genuinely dedicated to service and food quality, constantly moving around and attending to guests.
The room was spotless, and the lighting was much brighter than what you'd typically find in comparable hotels. The bathroom was also more spacious. The only minor drawback was a gap of about 1cm under the room door, which made me think the soundproofing might not be great. However, I wasn't disturbed by any noise from outside during my stay.
MM60267****Taking the Red Line MRT from Kaohsiung Airport, it's a quick ride to Exit 2, and then an 8-minute walk to the hotel. It's really convenient to get around from here. The hotel is very new, and the front desk staff are super friendly and always have a smile when answering questions. They truly make you feel right at home.
GGuest UserOne of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Wonderful staff! Whether it's the concierge employees at level 1, or the check-in staff at level 20, or the breakfast staff, everyone is polite and helpful. Fantastic service and facilities. Breakfast is amazing. Everything is perfect, and I strongly encourage visitors to Kaohsiung to stay at H2O hotel!
GGuest UserThere's more than one Takahashi Inn around Kaohsiung Station, but this one is right across the street from the station, which was super convenient for me since I had a lot of luggage. The hotel breakfast was excellent; I particularly enjoyed the hot Chinese options like congee, stir-fries, and tremella soup. Their scallion oil crispy pastry was fantastic! (See picture 2). The hotel doesn't serve dinner, but the famous Liuhe Night Market is less than a ten-minute walk away (See picture 3). I especially loved the hotel's 24-hour self-service laundry room.
GGuest UserPAPO’A Harbor Hotel – A Charming Stay by the Harbor in Kaohsiung
During our trip to Kaohsiung, we decided to stay at PAPO’A Harbor Hotel, and it turned out to be a great choice for exploring the creative harbor district of the city.
The hotel is located just a short walk from Pier-2 Art Center, one of the most vibrant and artistic areas in Kaohsiung. The neighborhood is filled with street art, converted warehouses, cafés, and galleries, making it a perfect place to wander around both during the day and in the evening. Being able to walk back to the hotel after exploring the area was a big plus.
One of the things that makes PAPO’A Harbor Hotel unique is its character. The building used to be a harbor staff dormitory and has been thoughtfully renovated into a boutique hotel. The design blends industrial elements with modern minimal touches, giving the space a calm and slightly artistic atmosphere that fits perfectly with the surrounding Pier-2 district.
Our room was simple but very comfortable. The bed was cozy, the room was clean, and everything felt well maintained. While the hotel focuses more on design and location than luxury facilities, it provides everything you need for a pleasant stay. Some rooms even offer partial views of the harbor, which adds to the experience of staying in this port city.
Another great advantage is transportation. The Light Rail stop is only a few minutes away, making it easy to reach other parts of Kaohsiung such as Love River, Central Park, or connect to the MRT system.
Overall, PAPO’A Harbor Hotel is a lovely boutique stay for travelers who appreciate design, convenience, and a relaxed harbor atmosphere. It may not be a large luxury hotel, but its charm, location, and unique character make it a memorable place to stay in Kaohsiung.
GGuest UserThe room is clean and spacious, facilities are great, and the staff are super friendly.
The hotel is a bit of a walk from the train station though.
Since it’s converted from an old commercial building, you have to climb about 10 steps through the mall to get up to the hotel, not the most convenient if you’ve got big luggage. Also, at night some of the mall doors get locked, so you might need to ask security how to get in, which is a bit of a hassle.
Overall, it’s more suitable for business travelers than leisure ones.
DdkworksThe only good thing this hotel offers you is a stunning view of the Kaihsiung skyline, however cleanliness and staff could be improved. The hotel says it is a 5 star hotel, but in fact it only offers 3 star experience; hotel staff looks not welcoming, the rooms are quite outdated, the aircon cannot be switched for heat - it was super cold in the room and they turn the aircon for you before you check in - why? It is 15 degrees outside, why your aircon is at freezing mode?
PPairayaStaff is helpful.
Food is good nothing fancy.
Room is have mould in the bathroom, small but acceptable.
Location is good, near airport. If you arrive quite late time and need more rest. It's a good option.
GGuest UserA perfect budget hotel! Honestly it has everything you need, and the staff are so lovely and helpful. The room was very clean too. Very reasonably priced for such a great service
CCrabisgood888Overall the hotel was very nice. It was modern. The check in staff was very helpful and at least one person on staff always spoke English. Note that the staff at breakfast were super cute older ladies and they don't speak English.
Pros: Modern design. Newer hotel. Large beds (stayed in a standard quad room). The twin bed rooms were also bigger and nice. The shower was really great. It was super high pressure. Bidet for the toilet. Big bathrooms. You can turn on the vent and dry clothes that you hang to dry. The 13th floor area is nice with snacks through the afternoon and evening and coffee. They provide free sparkling water and regular water for the rooms. Very well designed with great storage since there wasn't much floor space.
Cons: Location wasn't really next to many food areas. There's a Starbucks. You have to walk around 5-10 min, which is fine, but it's not the usual vibes you would imagine having in Taiwan. Unlike Taipei, the city is a sleepy town. A lot of businesses are just randomly closed during work hours and regular business days. There is a 7-11. The night market nearby is small. The breakfast needs a little help. After 2 days, it's the same food over and over. We were there for 7nights, so you can imagine it was a bit tiresome. I hope they can provide more variety. Even the soup only changed once. So 6 breakfasts it was miso soup. 1 breakfast was a corn soup (good, but never came back). Another major con is the hotel has no direct email address, so you can't contact them directly. I had to speak with the Leisure group hotels via FB messenger. They never responded via the Line App.
We chose this hotel because it's newer and had the room arrangements that we needed for our group (12 rooms). Big buses can wait outside for you. You can't make much noise in this hotel. We got warnings every day and that was just when we were hanging out in the lobby waiting for the elevator.
Overall the hotel was good value and great for a soccer team since we had the 13th floor for our team meetings and for hanging out at night.
