Ibis Marseille Centre Euroméd

This hotel offers excellent value during the August holiday season. Breakfast is open until 11 a.m. on weekends, which is great. It's open until 10 a.m. on weekdays. However, breakfast is often out of dishes and not replenished promptly. I strongly recommend adding a green vegetable to breakfast. 🥬 These past few days, I've had no greens at all. Fruit, yogurt, delicious madeleines, and fragrant crepes are all available. The room, while minor, was cleaned promptly. The area around the hotel is much safer than the old town. The only problem is that the room is on the side closest to the light rail. You'll definitely need earplugs when sleeping, and if you want to sleep in a little longer, you'll need Bose noise-canceling headphones. 🥲 Marseille is a magical place, a blend of chaos and beauty.

Much better than expected! The early flight arrived at 9 o'clock, and the room was ready! Victoria, the front desk lady, was very enthusiastic and spoke good English. She answered all kinds of questions carefully, including various matters about chartering a car to Nice. But the hotel's charter and taxi reservation are a bit expensive (50%+ premium vs. market, I chartered a car for 400 yuan, the hotel quoted 600 yuan; Uber 15 to the train station, the hotel charged 25 yuan...) This may be the only point that is not so ok, but this is an additional service outside of accommodation, so it is not included in this rating. The room facilities are very new, and the inner courtyard is very quiet, I like it very much.

The location of the hotel is excellent, it is in the Bourse building of the Old Port area and within walking distance to the port area and museums. Service is good, and the front desk staff is friendly and helpful.

We stayed in Sofitel Marseille for 3 nights in the summer of 2023. The hotel is located right on the periphery of the old port of Marseille where all the shops and restaurants are located. It takes about a 15-minute walk to get from the hotel all the way to the centre of the old port so the hotel is fairly insulated from the hustle and bustle of the old port. The exterior of the hotel looks a bit dated but the interiors feel very fresh, clean and bright. We upgraded our room to a deluxe room facing the old port at the reception and we thought it was worth it. We never tired of waking up to a view of the old port with a clear blue sky. The room itself was quite clean and spacious. There was enough room to open up two luggages and still move around comfortably. There is also a turn down service where the staff will put out the bedroom slippers and play some nice Jazz music when you come back. The bed was nice and comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. The only complaint we had was that the air conditioning would turn off in the middle of the night. The air conditioning control did not seem to work and it seems like the air conditioning is centrally controlled so the in-room controls did nothing. I could not sleep the first night as it was too warm and stuffy so we asked for a ventilateur (fan) the next day. That helped us to sleep better. Obviously, if you are planning to stay during the winter months then the heat at night should not be an issue. The staff at the reception were always pleasant, warm, friendly and polite. We were upsold the room with a view when we checked in so that should say something about how friendly the staff were. It was EUR70 per night for the room with a view and it included overnight parking (EUR27 per night) so it was really only about EUR50 extra per night. The valet and the concierge were all very helpful and nice and they all speak English well enough. If you intend to park here, do note that the roads within the hotel property can be quite narrow and the parking lots are quite narrow as well. It may be worthwhile getting the valet to help you park your car at least for the first day because driving from the car rental agencies at the Marseille train station to the hotel was stressful enough for us. We paid around EUR300 - 350 a night but we thought it was worth it and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Second stay at this hotel. Convenient for when traveling to / from the cruise port or airport. The hotel itself is very nice, small but great character and good facilities. We had a double floor mezzanine family room. Great room with comfy beds, clean, good amenities and nice bathroom, fridge, coffee machine etc so everything you need. There are two big downsides to this hotel that are out of their control. The old big French doors / windows look great but are not good at all for sound. We were on the 5th floor and heard cars, sirens, mopeds and people until the early hours and this does impact sleep. The second thing is the area, not a pleasant place at night. Lots of Homeless, rough sleepers and not a welcoming place. For us, simply going there to sleep and be comfortable and have a nice room it was good and we’d stay again, but it is expensive when you consider the area and noise at night vs some other better located hotels in Marseille

The location is very convenient. The hotel has access control, which is relatively safe. Free luggage storage. There are not many simple cafes around. Breakfast was added, which was very amazing. The staff are very polite

The biggest advantage is that the train station is very close. The train station is on a high ground. It is very difficult to pull boxes in the city, such as the old port. It is recommended that the subway taxi is closer. The whole Marseille has various heights and lows. ibis is mainly soundproofed. The sound of other neighbors closing the door is not loud outside the window. Breakfast is really good at this price hotel.

First time in Marseille. Fine to have stayed at this apartment but probably won't again. I had to chase for the access instructions myself. Also annoying to have to go pick up the keys from Ibis (collection itself was quick), which is a 9-minute walk to the apartment. The fob worked but the 2 keys attached did not open any doors. Email instructions, while clear, were not entirely accurate - referring to going right when in fact I needed to find the apartment on the left. Bit of drama one morning as I forgot my phone inside the apartment and had locked myself out. Had keys on me but the keys couldn't actually open the door, and of course I couldn't remember the super-secure 9-digit digital code! Only eventually managed to get in but asking a neighbour who thankfully was able to call the apartment manager. They should have given me working manual keys but never did. Apartment itself was very clean. Lots of linen. Comfortable bedding in the bedroom as well as hidden under the sofa bed. Basic toiletries included. Washing machine worked. Heating was plenty sufficient. No dishwasher but not an issue as I did not cook much. (2 induction hob rings right against the wall which I didn't think was conducive to cooking anything more than the super basic, but fine for me this trip.) Overall it was okay. Location super convenient, but I'd prefer somewhere quieter, where people and traffic noise wouldn't be so loud and go on after hours. Also somewhere without people relieving themselves next to large bins right outside the building's front door. Somewhere more pleasant...
