Sanpeiso was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The ryokan beautifully preserves the atmosphere of traditional Japan while offering excellent comfort and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and took great care of every detail throughout our stay. The room was spacious, spotless, and overlooked a peaceful garden, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. The onsen was exceptional — the hot spring water felt wonderful after a day of sightseeing, and the entire bathing area was quiet and beautifully maintained. Both dinner and breakfast were served in traditional Japanese style and were outstanding. Every dish was carefully prepared, beautifully presented, and showcased seasonal ingredients. It felt like a true cultural experience rather than simply a meal. What impressed us most was the authentic character of the ryokan. Unlike many modernized properties, Sanpeiso retains the charm and elegance of a classic Japanese inn. The combination of attentive service, excellent cuisine, serene surroundings, and high-quality hot springs made our stay unforgettable. If you are looking for an authentic ryokan experience in Atami, I highly recommend Sanpeiso. We would gladly return on our next visit to Japan.

Specifically came for the fireworks display, and the location was absolutely superb! We could enjoy the perfect fireworks show peacefully right from our balcony. It's very close to 7-Eleven, though parking is a bit of a walk.

The hotel is new and the room was decent. Location: It's quite far from Atami Station, and there are uphill and downhill slopes, plus stairs, which are extremely tiring when dragging luggage. There are many hotels along the way, and this one is a bit far from the beach as well. If you're considering coming, I'd recommend staying at La Vista, which is right across from the beach and just a few steps away. This hotel is also far from Kinomiya Station, and the uphill/downhill walks are exhausting. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to Kinomiya Shrine. The hotel's Wi-Fi signal is extremely poor, I'm genuinely fed up. I won't be staying here again.

The hotel was very clean, and the food was absolutely delicious. The hot springs were also wonderful, probably because it was a weekday and not crowded. I highly recommend getting the dinner plan. For breakfast, we were able to have it in our room, which allowed for a very relaxed start to the day. As other reviewers mentioned, the坂道 (steep hill) up to the hotel was quite something. We went by car, and at one point, we encountered another car coming down in a curving tunnel. Since uphill traffic has priority, the other car had to back up the hill to let us pass. After arriving, we enjoyed walking to the shopping street in front of the station, but on the way back to the hotel, we took a taxi from the station. Even the taxi driver radioed ahead to another taxi waiting at the top of the hill to hold their position before starting the ascent. It would be great if there were traffic lights at the top and bottom. There aren't many cars coming and going, so we just hoped there wouldn't be any oncoming traffic on our way back.

Facilities: Excellent! Most of the decor is wood, and the lobby is especially bright and open with large windows facing Tokyo Bay – the view is incredible. The room was huge and spacious. We booked a quadruple room for three people just for the extra space. The beds were large and comfortable; having one each was really nice. The bathroom has a three-piece setup but no bathtub, which didn't bother us at all since none of us take baths. The large built-in wardrobe by the entrance wall was great for stashing all our luggage. There's water and a microwave available near the elevators. For breakfast, we'd just grab something from the 7-Eleven downstairs and heat it up. There's a gym on the first floor for 1500 yen for 3 hours. The Haneda Airport bus stop is conveniently downstairs, costing 800 yen for adults and getting you to Terminals 1, 2, or 3 in a quick 30 minutes – much better than any subway option. Plus, there are lots of restaurants and an Aeon mall downstairs. Cleanliness: Spotless! Very clean and tidy. Toiletries can be picked up near the elevators, but we brought our own so didn't try them. The shower pressure was great. Environment: The address is Shinagawa, but it's quite a distance from Shinagawa Station. The subway downstairs is the Rinkai Line. While it's right above Shinagawa Seaside Station, the Rinkai Line is a bit isolated; you often have to walk ten minutes to another station (forgot the name) to get to most places. However, it's super convenient for Odaiba! There's a 7-Eleven and a Lawson downstairs. Service: Very good! The front desk staff speak English, English, English! We didn't need daily cleaning; fresh towels were left in a large paper bag by the door. Overall, a very comfortable hotel, just a bit inconvenient for transportation.

Take the free shuttle bus directly from Yugawara Station. The room is a single without a bathtub or shower, but there are plenty of outlets and USB ports. However, there are only two hangers. The food was delicious. The hot springs in the new building are mostly for day trips, and it can be uncomfortable when there are noisy groups of guests. The main building is a little old, but it is only for overnight guests, so it is more relaxing. The only hot spring with free-flowing water is the rock bath in the new building. I went there to treat a bruised leg, and I think it was effective.

I used this hotel for a trip with my girlfriend. The view, service, and amenities were all wonderful. The bathroom in the room was especially large and very nice. The amenities were all high-quality, and it was fun trying them all out. For this location and price, with a private bathroom in the room, I think it's a great deal!

Only 9 minutes from Atami Station, no stairs all the way down the slope, check out there is a shuttle bus up the mountain. Guests staying can choose their preferred yukata style. Breakfast is a buffet form, dinner is more old-fashioned Japanese food package, the taste is quite satisfactory. The hotel has more Japanese guests than foreign guests, who may only have 3 or 4 groups. The rooms are spacious and offer tatami-laying services, the sea view is excellent. The day of the fireworks festival will also open the rooftop for guests to watch, the rooftop is completely unobstructed very clear!

I stayed at this guesthouse in Atami last December and had a pleasant experience overall. The location is quite convenient, as it’s close to Atami Station. There is a short uphill walk to reach the guesthouse, but it’s still manageable. Overall, I would rate the guesthouse 8/10. The main thing to note is that, as it’s a guesthouse, the bathroom and toilet are shared. There is also an onsen available on-site, though it requires an additional fee (which is not expensive). The onsen operates on a time schedule since it’s shared between male and female guests. The host was friendly and welcoming. I didn’t really get the chance to use facilities like the dining area or the rooftop, but the dining area has a balcony with a nice sea view, which looked great. Another big plus is that the guesthouse is within walking distance of Atami Heiwa-dōri Shopping Street, making it very convenient for food and shopping.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip here. We stayed two nights and loved how spacious our room was. The private onsen overlooking the ocean was incredible and clean - the water seems to run continuously so it is always at the perfect temperature. The service was excellent and the staff either spoke English or used a pocket translator. Masa and his team were kind hosts explained all our food courses in delightful detail. The Japanese breakfast was incredibly good and authentic. We even got to meet the sous chef who explained some dishes and was so sweet. The dinners were multicourse and French style with truly impressive in-room service. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
