Hotels near West, Utrecht

"This hotel's location is quite good: about 10 minutes walk from Utrecht Central Station and next to a long street with shops (including food and Albert Heijn supermarket). The building itself is very charming and beautiful. While I was there, renovations were ongoing. This did not disturb me at all, except that the available signage to the reception was not sufficiently clear and there was no signage from the reception back to the exit. The hotel staff was friendly and seems to care about the hotel guests. However, the hotel room itself was poorly designed. The room was very cold as it only has a single air conditioning unit that serves as heating. This is inappropriate for the Netherlands given the humid and cold winter climate. The first night, I almost got no sleep because of this. The lack of warmth seems to be a common issue in the hotel given that another hotel guest reported heating in their room not working when I checked in. The room's floor is also very cold, and no slippers are provided (can't wear shoes inside as it was raining and the whole room would get wet as the room did not have a doormat). Another issue is that the room is tiny but also badly designed so that there is no proper space to actually sit and read a book or get some work done (I was traveling for work). My room was on the ground floor with big windows on both sides, which meant I needed to choose between zero privacy (open curtains) or a dark room (closed curtains). There was also quite a bit of noise coming in from outside the hotel. In the bathroom, there is no shower curtain, which means that the toilet gets completely wet once you take a shower, which is pretty inconvenient, especially given that only one big towel and one small towel is provided, so that I had no tools to dry the toilet after the shower (and again, without slippers, my feet would get wet going to the toilet, which is also not convenient). Altogether, unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel, even though I had been looking forward to my stay there as I had heard it is a beautiful place."

"The apartment hotel is useful for independent travelers. The rooms have both bedroom and a well equipped kitchen if you choose to shop and prepare your own food. The bathrooms are on the small side, but functional. The rooms are serviced only every four days, so make sure you dry your towels Facilities at the hotel include a bar restaurant, but this was often taken over by local events and parties - without any notice. There are not so many restaurants in easy reach of here. Overall, it’s a great base and although 4km from the city, there are very frequent direct buses and taxis"

"This hotel is far from the city centre, but there’s a bus from Utrecht Central Station (Bus 73). The hotel was cheaper than hotels in the city centre, that’s why we chose this instead, haha. The room style was retro 1980s, but everything is fully functional, so it doesn’t matter to us. The room size was big too, and there’s a bathtub. Breakfast was quite OK, and since it’s not easy to find anything to do in the morning in Holland since most shops and restaurants are still closed before 10 a.m., we just added this last minute for €19.50/pp. Next time, it’s better to book a room with breakfast when staying in Holland. I always forgot this."

"Was extremely pleased with the room - in fact, I have just booked the same for my next work trip. Very comfortable, stylish room. Small wardrobe for hanging clothes (seems obvious, but I had just stayed in a Hilton Hampton a few days before, and there was not so much as a coat hook). Great bathroom, with nice fragrance toiletries. Robe & slippers for relaxing. Important for me - desk / work place (although desk lamp didn't work) And of course, hotel is perfectly located near Utrecht Central, an important transit point. Thank you, team"

"Well…Someone entered our room in the middle of the night as they had a copy of our card (I don’t know how). After reporting it to their staff, we asked to change a room. He came up to understand the situation and told us to stay put and call him again if someone tries to enter again?! Of course, we rejected his proposal and demanded a change in room which he did do so. After all, we were offered free breakfast but 0 explanation or investigation into the matter even after probing. Room was pretty big tho"

"Het verblijf an-sich was prima. Kamer was netjes en schoon en de bediening vriendelijk. De prijs van de kamer was echter heel erg hoog. Dit terwijl de verdieping waar ik zat werd verbouwt en je eerst binnenstapt in een bouwval. Dit stond niet vermeld tijdens het boeken en was dus een onaangename verrassing. Bij het ontbijt serveert het hotel geen vlees. Domper. Maar wel de reguliere prijs wat in hotels gevraagd wordt. De prijs, het ontbreken van bacon bij het ontbijt en de onaangename verassing van de verbouwing hebben er voor gezorgd dat ik in het vervolg elders geen ga als ik in de omgeving ben. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar."

"Accommodation in Utrecht is really expensive, and this was the cheapest place I could find that was also relatively close to the train station. I didn't have high expectations initially, but when I arrived, I saw two very fancy outfits displayed at the entrance, and I realized this place was more than it seemed. It operates as a hostel, a bar, and a restaurant, and there's even a study area on the ground floor. A quick search revealed that this place is a converted church, and it's hard to imagine having the experience of staying a night in a church. Since I needed to work, I went to the study area in the evening and stayed until midnight. The restaurant had already closed, and everything was very quiet, creating a truly unique atmosphere. Then, when I woke up the next morning and looked downstairs, the ground floor was already full of people working – so diligent! P.S. Both check-in and check-out are self-service, making it an introvert-friendly hostel. If I ever get the chance to visit Utrecht again, I would definitely consider staying here."

"Schönes Hotel an einem Fluss gelegen mit Sitzgelegenheiten im Außenbereich. Die Zimmer sind geräumig, aber die Ausstattung ist schon etwas inbrünstig Jahre gekommen und sollten mal etwas modernisiert werden. Ansonsten war ich zufrieden mit diesem Hotel."
