"I recently had the pleasure of staying at Swissotel Makkah, and overall, it was a truly comfortable and memorable experience. Check-in Experience: The check-in process was smooth and the staff was warm and welcoming. However, due to the standard 4 PM check-in time, there were long queues at the reception. To avoid this congestion, I recommend contacting the hotel in advance to arrange for early check-in, especially during peak seasons. If you’re an Accor member, the experience is even more seamless and rewarding. Ambiance & Cleanliness: From the moment you step into the hotel lobby, you’re greeted with a signature scent that flows throughout the lobby, corridors, and even into the guestroom — creating a consistent sense of calm and cleanliness. The ambiance is elegant and tranquil, offering a relaxing contrast to the bustling surroundings outside. Guestroom Experience: The room was spacious, well-maintained, and the highlight was definitely the breathtaking Kaaba view, which added a deeply spiritual and unique element to the stay. The bed linens were soft and luxurious, ensuring restful sleep. The air conditioning was perfectly calibrated, providing a refreshing escape from the intense heat outside. It made re-entering the room after a long day feel rejuvenating. The room also came equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay: coffee and tea facilities, quality toiletries, and other thoughtful amenities. Hotel Accessibility: A significant advantage of Swissotel Makkah is its location in the Abraj Clock Tower. Unlike many other hotels in the same complex, the lobby is on the ground floor, which means guests can access the rooms directly without switching elevators — a huge plus in terms of convenience. Service & Flexibility: The staff went above and beyond by offering us a late check-out while we waited for our continued stay at Swissotel Al Maqam. This thoughtful gesture truly elevated the experience and showed their commitment to guest comfort. Final Thoughts: Swissotel Makkah combines comfort, excellent service, and unmatched convenience, particularly for pilgrims and visitors seeking proximity to the Haram. Whether it’s the luxurious bed, the iconic view, or the little details that enhance your stay, this hotel delivers on all fronts. I would not hesitate to recommend it and look forward to staying here again."

"The hotel is too far from Haram. You can’t make by foot to Haram. However, there is shuttle at place which takes around 40m and still you have to walk another 20 min. Due to Ramadan shuttle don’t go all the way to stop and you will also have to change shuttle twice. The hotel is not recommended for an older age. There wasn’t any ironing facility, no coffee maker and locker. Hotel location is far it cost us minicab on way back to Haram. Would recommend to book somewhere closer to Haram. The hotel is not at walking distance as pencilled on website."

"I’m shocked, firstly they gave us a room on the 9 th floor which was rotted to the core (pictures will be provided). Then they gave us another room renovated said by Riyan, he was helpful. The luggage took an hour coming up. Unusual to see, one of my luggage was opened and the lock was inside the suitcase. When I complained, Mr Faisal was most helpful and said he will have the cctv cameras checked. And didn’t get back with me so after hours I spoke to the night manager he said we viewed the cameras, no one had opened the luggage. And in the morning when I asked to view the CCTV footage they said no! It seemed a dull answer! So I got in touch with the Movenpick hotel where we stayed a night too, they still said get a report from the police station and you’re welcome to see the footage! As the last picture we had of the suitcase was taken to show to the uber to show how many pieces we have in that picture it was clearly showed the lock is on! Then in Movenpick we did not open that suitcase and moved to Pullman. Now calling Pullman they kept referring calls, as I explained to the one who I spoke with if Movenpick said it’s okay to view the cctv after the police report, can I view your footage too! They kept refer the call. So I ended up reporting the incident to the Embassy. If this incident has happened to anyone go as far as the headquarters of Pullman, and report it to the Embassy. I’m quite shocked, nothing was taken seriously..! Take care of your luggage please!!!! Regardless it’s locked. The Asian staff are not to be trusted."

"Generally an excellent hotel. Some staff members would still benefit from further customer service training however it’s absolutely vital that I mention and praise Mr Amro Bin Malih. "Sure! Here’s a well-balanced review that highlights the overall positive experience while noting the issue with the furniture: ⸻ I had a pleasant stay at this hotel overall. The location is excellent—close to major attractions and easy to get around. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional throughout my stay, and the room was clean and spacious. One thing to note, though, is that the furniture in the room didn’t quite match the photos online. It looked a bit older and more worn than expected. While this didn’t significantly affect my comfort, it was a bit disappointing given the presentation on the website. Despite that, I would still recommend this hotel for its service, cleanliness, and great location. Just keep in mind that the room decor may not be exactly as pictured."

Amazing
IIntrepid Traveller8This hotel is next level unreal! The pictures of the rooms don't do it justice, it's way better in reality (at least in my case). We booked three rooms for 5 nights in Jan/ Feb 2025, were located in tower 3 - Al Falak Tower in rooms 708/ 6**/6**. The bathrooms were unbelievable, all stunning white marble with some super fancy design, so so amazing, the shower was so big you could fit like 7 people in there, I have never stayed in such a luxury room before. Ceilings are like 4 metres, really unbelievable. The colour palette for the room was muted greys and pastels, it looked very nice, suited the room and location. One thing that would be useful, can the hotel just install a Japanese bidet instead of a separate one, I think it's a waste installing a standalone bidet and the all-in-one bidet toilet is current technology, so it would be useful compared to the current setup (Toto toilet, etc). Now, the sad bit. The distance from the Haram is advertised as not far, and it isn't. But the reality is it's extremely difficult to enter the haram, because of the crowds, it is just heaving. The police close off the haram to outsiders as soon as the adhaan goes, so you can't enter (be aware), and you'll have to pray outside the boundaries of the haram if you are not inside the area before the adhaan (this may be subject to change, and I cannot confirm how they arrange their opening times etc, please confirm on your own travels). Inside the haram, there is ridiculous construction work going on, all entrances are purposefully blocked, so that huge traffic builds up (I remember 10 years ago in 2014 when I stayed at Bai Al Abraaj, you could just walk into the Ma3taf area of the haram in about 5 minutes, now it is impossible. ). I have no idea what the government is doing, but it seems to intentionally be closing off areas to stop people from entering, which is really a shame. It seems that the purpose is that you rather go to all the shops and malls outside the mall, or pray inside your hotel rather than venture out, this seems the goal of the current administration by closing off all entrances, or causing huge areas to be cordoned off so that getting in easily is impossible. I got so sick of the crowds that i ended up not wanting to go into the haram afterwards (the crowds inside are really next level crazy, they will push and drive wheelchairs up your legs and cut you - happened to me but maybe I was just unlucky). The hotel is exceptional and so is the buffet breakfast/ dinner - breakfast is between 90 - 119riyals, and dinner is about 149 riyals. Food is amazing, but it's sad that most people pile their plates with croissants etc, don't take a bite and throw it away, such a shame. I hope the hotel can have signs up to prevent such ridiculous wastage, or at least give this food to the outside poor people.

MMarziraHotel Review: Raffles Makkah Palace My recent stay at Raffles Makkah Palace was absolutely outstanding, offering a seamless blend of luxury, thoughtful touches, and exceptional service that made our experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the reception team and delighted with a complimentary upgrade upon check-in. The upgraded room was not only spacious with breathtaking views but also impeccably clean and beautifully maintained, reflecting the hotel’s high standards. A special thank you to the reception manager, whose professionalism and welcoming demeanor made the check-in process smooth and set a positive tone for our stay. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring our satisfaction were truly appreciated. One of the thoughtful touches that enhanced our experience was the provision of bath salts, allowing us to unwind and relax after completing Umrah. It was a small but meaningful gesture that added to the overall sense of care. The service throughout the hotel was exceptional. The housekeeping team was proactive, consistently checking in to ensure we had enough towels, toiletries, and other essentials, contributing significantly to our comfort. Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. The breakfast service team was attentive and welcoming, ensuring we were comfortable and well taken care of. They even provided a walk-around tour of the buffet spread, introducing us to the menu and explaining the dishes. The breakfast theme was thoughtfully curated, offering a wide range of delicious options to suit every palate. Desta and Sandhy stood out for their exceptional hospitality. They were incredibly helpful, attentive, and proactive in anticipating our needs, making us feel truly valued as guests. Hajar also deserves special recognition for her patience and creativity in resolving our requests with practical and thoughtful solutions. The in-room dining team, especially Farouk, provided excellent service. Farouk’s attentiveness and efficiency ensured that every meal was delivered promptly and with care, enhancing our overall experience. Raffles Makkah Palace sets the gold standard for luxury hospitality. With its outstanding service, thoughtful gestures, and exceptional team, it made our stay unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Makkah and look forward to returning for another incredible stay.

NNurAs per previous review. For this booking, thanks to Mr Haitam for assissting me. I got a room near to the lift. Thank you so much 🙂 On average, i waited less than 1 minute for the lift. Extra 2-5minutes from the hotel to reach Kudi bus station by the shuttle bus. 6-8minutes walk from Kudi bus station to the mosque. Going back from the mosque to the hotel takes a bit longer time during peak hours. Overall, i highly recommend this hotel.

BBatista BombI recently stayed here for my first Umrah, and this hotel truly made the experience so much more comfortable. As anyone who has performed Umrah knows, it can really take a toll on your body, and having a place to rest properly is essential to regain the energy to pray in the best manner. This hotel gave me that comfort. The staff were very kind and friendly, always ready to help. The shuttle service to and from Haram every half an hour was a blessing—it made life much easier and saved us from the hassle of dealing with local taxis. Honestly, I’m not someone who enjoys bargaining, and some taxi drivers will charge whatever they can get away with. For example, one driver quoted me 70 riyals to return to my hotel, while the Careem app showed the same trip for only 18 riyals! Thankfully, I avoided being ripped off, but the shuttle service spared me from this stress altogether. Overall, I was very happy with my stay. The hotel played a big role in making my first Umrah smooth and comfortable, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for convenience, kindness, and peace of mind during such a blessed journey.

GGuest UserWael in reception was fantastic for organising my stay at short notice when I was struggling contacting hotels between 3 am and 4 am in the morning. He went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Also, I would like to mention Saif Islam from housekeeping who provided fantastic service and looked after my needs as and when required. I have stayed at the Clock Tower, Hyatt, etc in the past and while these hotels were a little closer to Masjid Haram, I would still highly recommend Sheraton mainly because of their exceptional customer service.

Mmoyo2 night stay for our first time at this hotel. So let's start with check-in. Not great. Just 2 members of staff, who didn't seem to be working particularly quickly through guests who were queuing up. Took about 25mins wait, which is not what you want. The room itself, a junior suite, with one king bed and one separate seating area, was by and by clean, but this may just be down to the fact it is not regularly booked, so underused and not worn out as much. The fixtures and fittings definitely could do with some refurbishment and upgrades. Mattress had no give and felt like a plank of wood, and the pillows were similar. The sofa was uncomfortable and sagged, as were the 2 small chairs, no cushions also. The curtains in both the seating room and the bedroom were on a pulley system which refused to budge and we're half open and couldn't be moved. Another fault we had to call down for was the actual wall/ceiling area on top of the main room door. The door would not close easily and needed a great big hard shove to close. On exiting I noticed that the plaster and wall around was cracking and the whole door frame was cracking. The reception staff sent a carpenter who came to look and said they would need to send a plasterer the next day. Needless to say no-one else turned up and the fault was still outstanding at the end of our stay. Neither did the cleaning staff hoover or brush up the growing pile of plaster and dust which accumulated each time the door was opened and closed. Another bugbear of the room was the soundproofing, or better put, lack of any soundproofing whatsoever. We were subject to noise from the next door room all night, conversations and television sound coming through whilst trying to sleep. In the adjacent seating area, there was actually a great big gap in the wall by the window frame which allowed light and sound from the neighbours on the other side to come through. Very disconcerting. The WiFi was woefully slow, to the point that we couldn't even load the qr code for the hotel services. The shuttle service, if you could call it that, seemed kind of pointless if you're able bodied. It was quicker to walk. Literally a one minute ride on the way out. My child was sick in the night and we needed a change of sheets for the bed. It took 2 phonecalls and then being put on hold and waiting 20mins, by which time I physically send down to reception to see what was going on. There was supposedly a kids club on Floor H, which also houses the gym, but it was abandoned and was a bare room. Ok let's put down something positive. The fridges in the room actually worked. The television sets were brand new slimline Samsung. But, annoyingly the actual channels and TV signal were not great. The lifts were fairly clean, if somewhat slow depending which set you were using. My wife commented that the reception area toilets were the cleanest she had ever come across and had attendants on hand to clean. The car parking charge is also annoying, you'd think it would be free for guests or cheaper than the close to 75sar daily charge. Access available cheap local food eateries, but may not be suitable for delicate constitutions. There are also a few shops in the hotel lobbies complex, selling clothes, prayer accessories etc along with a small mini mart for basic necessities, along with the obligatory barber shop and overpriced coffee shop/cafe. Would we stay again? Possibly, due to location being not too far from the Haram and relatively budget friendly price. Would not recommend for older or disabled travellers as it would be challenging to get to the Holy Mosque even if using the shuttle bus. Just be prepared for a noisy stay, so bring ear plugs if you don't want to know exactly what your room neighbours talk about during the night.
