Willa Caro Museum in Gliwice

An example of a well-preserved residence built in the 19th century in the style of the Renaissance villa architecture of that time. Previously, the villa belonged to the Gliwice industrialist Oskar Karo, and in 1934 it was transferred by the city to the permanent premises of the museum. Built in 1882-1885, the two-story residence (the third floor was completed in the 1920s) has a large eclectic garden. Currently, the villa and the garden are surrounded by a faithfully restored stone and metal fence. Inside the villa, interior elements are well preserved: beautifully decorated ceilings, boiserie, parquet, door and window joinery. The building is used as the premises of the Museum in the city of Gliwice. Currently, the villa hosts a permanent exhibition of the interiors of the living quarters of the Upper Silesian industrialists of the 19th century.
